The Teen-Drama film and TV influence on teenagers
The teen-drama film and TV genre has had a significant impact on teenagers in various ways. Here are some of the ways in which this genre has influenced teenagers:
Identity and Self-Discovery:
Teen dramas often revolve around themes of identity, self-discovery, and the challenges of adolescence. These stories can resonate with teenagers who are going through a similar phase in their lives, helping them navigate their own journey of self-discovery.
Social Issues and Awareness:
Many teen dramas address social issues such as bullying, peer pressure, mental health, substance abuse, and relationships. Exposure to these themes through media can contribute to increased awareness among teenagers and encourage discussions about these important topics.
Representation:
Teen dramas often feature diverse casts and characters, showcasing various backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. This representation can be empowering for teenagers who may see characters on screen that they can relate to, helping them feel seen and validated.
Relationship Dynamics:
Teen dramas often explore the complexities of friendships and romantic relationships. While some aspects may be exaggerated for entertainment purposes, these portrayals can still provide insights into the challenges and dynamics of interpersonal relationships, helping teenagers navigate their own social lives.
Peer Influence and Pressure:
Teen dramas frequently depict scenarios involving peer pressure and the consequences of making certain choices. This can serve as a cautionary tale for teenagers, highlighting the importance of making informed decisions and resisting negative influences.
Fashion and Trends:
Teen dramas often influence fashion trends and styles. Characters' clothing choices and overall aesthetics can impact teenage fashion trends, shaping how young people express themselves through clothing and appearance.
Digital and Social Media Influence:
Many modern teen dramas incorporate elements of digital communication and social media, reflecting the role technology plays in teenagers' lives. This can influence how teenagers engage with and perceive social media, as well as the potential impact on mental health and self-esteem.
Coping Strategies:
Characters in teen dramas often face challenges and adversity, providing opportunities for viewers to observe and learn from different coping strategies. This can be valuable for teenagers in real life as they encounter their own challenges and seek ways to cope with stress and difficult situations.

I was lucky enough for Euphoria to be screened AFTER I left high school because I watch the way it has influenced younger children i.e. the "TikTok" generation. Even my dad's youngest who is 16 looks older than I do. Gungey makeup, ripped fishnet stockings, eyebrow piercings, a different hair colour each week (she isn't emo just very creative/confident/alternative with her fashion and appearance choices) but all her friends look the same. Most of them have voluptuous body features at sixteen and presenting themselves in such a way is "normalised" and i feel like this movement has all been because of teen-drama series that are highly materialised and sexualised. (I am going down a bit of a rabbit hole with that one)

Another one of my favourite teen-drama movies was "Mean Girls" which I actually reference in my essay already; referring to some really mean girls at my highschool as "mean girls that wear pink on wednesdays". This stemmed a thought for me that relates to all teenagers - how we go into highschool thinking it's going to be all fun and games, but when we get there and really get into it - its really not.
In my formative essay, I write about how we aren't prepared for all the awkward things like puberty, hormones, boys, friendship fallouts, and mean teachers at school. But for some reason we think it's going to be shopping after school, endless parties, no school work... why do we think this? Because we WATCH IT.
Film and televsion has influenced so many aspects of teen-hood which is not such a great thing.

Undefined Grief and Expressive Arts: Practises for Creating Meaning
"Where do I begin to talk or think about grief? And when does grief end? Narrative scrapbooking engages bereaved clients at any point in their journey of grief.

"The images chosen are meant to answer the question: Who am I? Clients arrange the images in a pattern that feels right to them."

"The term legacy typically refers to that which one leaves to family, community, profession, or society, often referring to accomplishments, values, or progeny… I view legacy work as a personal, emotional, and spiritual exploration of one's place during the time of a life transition in addition to oral histories stories that often inform through metaphor who we are and what we value."

Creative Nostalgia: Social and Psychological Benefits of Scrapbooking.
This is an academic article that I found to use and reference in my essay. The main points I took away from this article are as followed:
A growing body of research indicates that nostalgia is a cognitive and affective experience that involves mentally revisiting personally meaningful life events and that this experience has positive psychological and social consequences.
Scrapbooking is an activity in which one creates a photo album to memorialize special events or people
Creative activities, like scrapbooking, benefit mental health
Constructing personal scrapbooks within a group can amplify positive effects through the experience of connecting with others.
