The first time I went on book distribution, I was only 6-7 years old. It was in Moscow Bhaktivedanta Gurukula, the little kids would distribute Golden Age newspaper & the middle & high school students would distribute medium, big and maha big books. It was an awesome experience. I don’t remember actually selling even a single newspaper, but I remember meeting one Professor of Indian studies, and she was like, “Yes, I’ve heard about all your Vedas! Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, Atharva Veda!” And I was like, “Well, then why don’t you buy the newspaper then?” Sankirtana is always an unforgettable experience 🔥 One time Sanātana Rupa Prabhu in Suharevo distributed “The Science of Self-Realization” to me & showed that it’s also a wonderful thing to distribute books to devotees as well. So here we have Kamalini with her presents 💛 https://www.instagram.com/p/CTn_n7NB0OY/?utm_medium=tumblr

12. The mountains, although being struck by torrents of rain during the rainy season, are not shaken, just as those whose hearts are dedicated to the transcendental Personality of Godhead are never disturbed, even when harassed by great misfortune. Because a person who is spiritually advanced accepts any adverse condition of life as the mercy of the Lord, he is completely eligible to enter into the spiritual kingdom. Even though a person takes to the devotional service of the Supreme Lord, he may sometimes become diseased, impoverished, or disappointed by life's events. A true devotee of the Lord always considers these sufferings to be due to past sinful activities, and thus without becoming disturbed he patiently awaits the mercy of the Supreme Lord. Such devotees are compared to high mountains, which are never agitated in any way, even when struck by powerful torrents of rain in the rainy season. Rather, such devotees remain humble in spiritual enlightenment. Free from pride and envy, they easily gain the mercy of the Lord and go back home, back to Godhead. 🎙 Episodes 240-257 📖 "Light of the Bhagavata” by His Divine Grace Srila A. C. Real civilization means tapo divyam, godly austerity. And this tapasya begins with brahmacārī life, learning to control the senses – that is the beginning of life. Not “A-B-C-D” learning, and maybe your character is less than an animal’s, though you have a degree from the university. “Never mind. You have become a learned man.” No – that is not accepted. Even from the standpoint of basic moral instruction, we must ask: Who today is educated? The educated person is described by Cāṇakya Paṇḍita: mātṛ-vat para-dāreṣu para-dravyeṣu loṣṭra-vat ātma-vat sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ paśyati sa paṇḍitāḥ “The educated man sees another’s wife as his mother and another’s property as untouchable garbage, and he sees all others as equal to himself.” 📖 "Civilization & Transcendence” by His Divine Grace Srila A. Four Stages of Language
Tumblr media
This verse was mentioned in today’s Episode 381 - The Mind Fixed Unflinchingly (Teachings of Lord Caitanya, Chapter 1), so as I promised, posting the reference over here:  Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam   10.85.9 दिशां त्वमवकाशोऽसि दिश: खं स्फोट आश्रय: ।नादो वर्णस्त्वम् ॐकार आकृतीनां पृथक्कृति: ॥ ९ ॥ diśāṁ tvam avakāśo ’sidiśaḥ khaṁ sphoṭa āśrayaḥnādo varṇas tvam oṁkāraākṛtīnāṁ pṛthak-kṛtiḥ Synonyms diśām — of the directions; tvam — You; avakāśaḥ — the power to accommodate; asi — are; diśaḥ — the directions; kham — the ether; sphoṭaḥ — elemental sound; āśrayaḥ — having (ether) as its basis; nādaḥ — sound in its form of unmanifest vibration; varṇaḥ — the primeval syllable; tvam — You; oṁkāraḥ — om; ākṛtīnām — of particular forms; pṛthak–kṛtiḥ — the cause of differentiation (namely, manifest language). Translation You are the directions and their accommodating capacity, the all-pervading ether and the elemental sound residing within it. You are the primeval, unmanifested form of sound; the first syllable, om; and audible speech, by which sound, as words, acquires particular references. Purport In accordance with the general process of creation, speech always becomes audible in stages, which proceed from subtle inner impulse to outward expression. These stages are mentioned in the mantras of the Ṛg Veda (1.164.45): catvāri vāk-parimitā padānitāni vidur brāhmaṇā ye manīṣiṇaḥguhāyāṁ trīṇi nihitāni neṅgayantiturīyaṁ vāco manuṣyā vadanti “Discriminating brāhmaṇas know of four progressive stages of language. Three of these remain hidden within the heart as imperceptible vibrations, while the fourth stage is what people ordinarily understand as speech.” Read the full article

1) My dear mind, you have not thought of this! You have not thought of this! You are very wicked! (Oh, you are deeply sunk in the poison of worldly sense gratification!) You are overwhelmed by lust, anger, greed, illusion, madness, and so on! (Oh, you are under the sway of the enemy!) 2) You are attracted by a thirst for hearing mundane news, enjoying material sense objects, and seeking liberation! (Oh, you think that nonsensical talk sounds very pleasant!) You have become crushed by the desire for fame, as well as by hypocrisy and crooked dealings! (Oh, you are not very simple or straightforward!) You are completely surrounded, dear brother, by all these inauspicious signs of death! (Oh, these are indeed your deadly enemies!) 3) If you do not give up all these things, then how will you attain Radha and Krsna? (Oh, carefully abandon, just abandon them!) Other than the association of sadhus, where else is your real benefit to be found? (Oh, just keep the company, keep the company of saintly devotees!) Just immerse yourself in the lotus feet of a Vaisnava, and all unwanted things will disappear! (Oh, just think about all of this for once and see for yourself!) Vyasa-puja Offering to Srila Prabhupada
Tumblr media
Dear Srila Prabhupada, Please accept my humble repeated obeisances at the dust of Your lotus feet, All glories to Sri Guru & Gouranga! All glories to You! I had so many ideas, so many things I wanted to say, to glorify and express my gratitude to You, Srila Prabhupada, and the occasion is so gigantic and grand, but now thinking how I’m supposed to write it all in one homage makes me lose my breath and leaves me dumbfounded, unable to write a single word. Rarely do I find myself speechless, but in front of You, Srila Prabhupada, I am. In the past year Sravanam Diaries Podcast have read 20 books, published 376 episodes that were played 7080 times in 49 countries. As they say “it’s not much, but it’s honest work.” Today I would like to humbly present the Telegram Channel of Sravanam Diaries (t.me/sravanamdiaries), where we uploaded the first 100 episodes, categorized by books in different channels (more to be uploaded later). In this way anyone can “stumble” upon Your books on Telegram through searching & immediately have an opportunity to listen or buy your books. When I think of this small initiative of ours, Sravanam Diaries, I am in double mind. On one hand it is a very personal project, as the name suggests, it’s my personal reading diary, as I really want to nicely study and know all of Your books. And I don’t feel comfortable advertising it much, it’s like coming up to random people telling them “Please read my diary!” It’s uncomfortable in one sense:) But on the other hand it is very much a preaching project. I am aware that these episodes are published for anyone and everyone to listen, that articles I write on the website are to be read by anyone and everyone, my husband’s brilliant idea to include links to buy the books turns it into somewhat book sankirtana experience. And I know for sure that I have few grateful regular listeners who are appreciating this podcast. And as statistics say, many people do come across our podcast or click the link to buy the book. Yet, this is more of an unexpected blessing, rather than a calculated strategy. The way my life has changed in the past year is unbelievable. Thank You, Srila Prabhupada. As long as I remember I always wanted to please and serve my Guru Maharaja. And one of the first instructions he gave me was to study Your books. And on the day of my initiation, he instructed me to study and teach the science of Krishna consciousness & dedicate my life in serving in Your movement, just like he did, just like his glorious godbrothers did. And the more I try to follow this instruction the more I realize that it all goes back to You, to reading Your books & following Your instructions, fulfilling Your vision and developing Your movement which is meant to save and uplift the entire world for the next 10 000 years. I know that I can’t do anything myself, I am highly incompetent, useless, I often refer to myself as being “pathetic”. But I pray and will always pray to be Your instrument, to be my Guru Maharaja’s instrument, and I’m sure by the inconceivable power of Your mercy, one day, I would be blessed to actually act as Your fine instrument and thus please You, really please You with my endeavors. One of my favorite chapters of "Nectar of Devotion" are chapters 21-22 where the 64 qualities of Śrī Kṛṣṇa are described. The list starts with the first quality being "1. Beautiful features of the entire body" and it ends with "64. He has a wonderful excellence of beauty that cannot be rivaled anywhere in the creation." It’s like it starts with "He is very beautiful!" and ends with "He is SO wonderfully excellently beautiful!" And I felt like sharing some of the qualities that “comfort” and inspire me: 12. HIGHLY INTELLIGENT A man is called intelligent if he has a sharp memory and fine discretion. [...] Kṛṣṇa’s fine discretion was exhibited when He was fighting with the untouchable king who attacked the city of Mathurā. According to Vedic rites, those who are untouchable are not to be touched by the kṣatriya kings, not even for killing. Therefore, when the untouchable king seized the city of Mathurā, Kṛṣṇa did not think it wise to kill him directly with His own hand. Still the king had to be killed, and therefore Kṛṣṇa decided with fine discretion that He should flee from the battlefield so that the untouchable king would chase Him. He could then lead the king to the mountain where Mucukunda was lying asleep. 13. GENIUS A person is called a genius when he can refute any kind of opposing element with newer and newer arguments. In this connection there is a statement in Padyāvalī which contains the following conversation between Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā... 19. EXPERT JUDGE OF TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCES Kṛṣṇa was very expert in dealing with people according to circumstances, country, time and paraphernalia. How He could take advantage of a particular time, circumstance and person is expressed by Him while... 20. SEER BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE SCRIPTURES A person who acts exactly according to the tenets of scripture is called śāstra-cakṣus. Śāstra-cakṣus means one who sees through the eyes of the authorized scriptures. Actually, any man of knowledge and experience should see everything through these books. For example, with our naked eye we perceive... Today is a wonderful day to think what qualities of Krishna out of those 64 attract or inspire you:) (at Sri Mayapur) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTMRFfqg1b6/?utm_medium=tumblr

Happy Janmastami !! 🌸 Let us all gift Lord Krishna something that He would love to receive from us: 📖 Kṛṣṇa is begging us: "Try to love Me. Learn how to love Me. Offer something to Me." "Sir," we may say, "I have nothing to give You." "Oh, you cannot collect a piece of fruit, a flower, a leaf or a little water?" "Oh yes, why not? Anyone can collect this." This then is the method of Kṛṣṇa consciousness which allows one to make friends with Kṛṣṇa. We can enter into any number of relationships with Kṛṣṇa. We can become a direct servant of Kṛṣṇa, or in the highest stages we can become Kṛṣṇa's father, mother or lover. Kṛṣṇa is prepared to establish a loving relationship with all living entities. In actuality this relationship is already there... 📖 from "Krishna Consciousness: The Matchless Gift” by His Divine Grace Srila A. C. That mood when you just want to cuddle with the book “Light of the Bhagavata”, listening to rain and loud thunder ⛈⛈⛈ Text 6. On hearing the sound of the torrential rains, the frogs come out of the mountain caves and begin to chant, like brahmacārīs who chant the Vedic hymns by the order of the spiritual master. Purport: In this age of a godless civilization, the sages of world-recognized religious sects who believe in God must come out of their secluded places and preach the science of God, the Supreme Will, to the people in general. Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and the members of the other sects that have convincing faith in the authority of God must not sit idly now and silently watch the rapid growth of a godless civilization. There is the supreme will of God, and no nation or society can live in peace and prosperity without acceptance of this vital truth. The warning is already there, and responsible leaders of religious sects must meet together and form a common platform of a league of devotees of the Lord. There is no need for self-realized souls to live in a secluded place. Perfect self-realized souls, engaged in the service of the Lord, are unafraid of māyā, just as law-abiding citizens of a state never fear the police. Such fearless devotees of God always speak scientifically about the existence of God, even at the risk of death. Such devotees of God feel compassion for the mass of people, who have completely forgotten the Supreme Lord and who engage in the false pursuit of happiness that ends in the sense pleasures enjoyed by the hogs and dogs. 🎙 Episodes 240-257 📖 "Light of the Bhagavata” by His Divine Grace Srila A. #grateful #spreadtheword Anyone reading our Krsna book, Nectar of Devotion, Teachings of Lord Caitanya and Bhagavad-gita will certainly become a Krsna conscious person. Someway or other we have to push these literatures, whether through schools, colleges, libraries, membership or ordinary sales. In your country practically there is no illiteracy. Everyone can read and write. So when they will read Krsna book, certainly they will enjoy this as a story or as philosophy, morality, religion, etc. and gradually they will become perfect in Krsna consciousness. 710318 - Letter to Karandhara written from Bombay March 18, 1971 Los Angeles (at Sri Mayapur) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTHDh9vAXOx/?utm_medium=tumblr
