Okay, so, I just finished Yakuza 3, and I have many, many mixed thoughts and feelings. I'm sure someone has said this before but I want to talk about the "parallelism" between Mine and Daigo (in Yakuza 0), because I just realized it and I'm okn't. If they did this on purpose, they are sick.
I'm sure we all understand the ending of Yakuza 3 by now. I mean, it's pretty straightforward. Not being able to establish any genuine relationship was creating a void within Mine that was getting bigger and bigger.
In his childhood he was unable to make any friend because for other people he had no value. This must be very hard for a child's development, but during adulthood it didin't get any better. He earned a lot of money so more people started approaching him, obviously in a interested way. That must have really hurt him and so his "beliefs" solidyfied and he didn't even try any more to connect with people. We know that, he literally says so.
So, in the "Family Heir" substory (Yakuza 0), Daigo talks about how he's experiencing something similar. It's more like what Mine experienced when he was an adult; everyone approaches him out of interest, for his money or his status, but the conclusion is the same; two children incapable of forming genuine relationships/friendships with the people around them.
The difference? Kiryu Kazuma threatening to beat him up (will work with me to, not gonna lie). I choose to believe it's on purpose. RGG really like their connected by fate gays, don't they?
The speech he gives to Mine is similar, a little faster but I mean, Mine was pointing a gun at him lol
And he proceeds to beat him up! That's Kiryu's love language I guess
The sad thing is that in the end he got it, the seed to change was there. It really seemed like he wanted to change but the feeling of "not deserving something real" won, especially after betraying one of the few persons he ever loved. I went into this fight hating this man and ended up crying.
Mine was right, I wish he had met them a little earlier in his life (difficult with both Kiryu and Daigo in prison lol).
And to be honest, I think it worked better with Mine than Daigo because if you look at Kiwami 2, it didn't look like he had any friend (does he have any now? Majima and Kiryu don't count, they're his parents)
In conclusion, being gay in Japan (2009) must have been hard enough to justify going to therapy, I can't imagine dealing with this on top of that.

Hanging out with Haruka time! I love her so much!!
Hanging out with Haruka is always a highlight in this games, I don't trust anyone who doesn't like this mechanic
Like look at her! She's my baby I'll do anything for her! (except playing mahjong, sorry but learning how golf was enough. I feel like a middle aged rich man)
She's actually better at bowling than Nishiki lol (let's be honest, anyone is). Can you imagine Kiryu taking 8 kids bowling? I definitely can, what a chaotic night. Throw Daigo and Majima in there and you can call it family night <3
Why are you scared? I did it first try!
This girl is developing a gambling problem and Kiryu doesn't have enough functioning neurons to realize it. He probably thinks it's normal because of his life, even though I don't think he's that much of a gambler.
Quite embarrassing but I had to get the keys that I was missing... Obviously they were the ones in adult places ugh I'm sorry you had to see Kiryu walking into that DVD store Haruka!
I love them so so much! They are both very caring yet both refuse to ask for help until it is completely necessary. This game has a lot of that "I MUST do this alone" Kiryu mentality. I'm not a big fan (neither was majima or date or rikiya or nakahara or any of the children in morning glory or…)
Oh no she's caching Kiryu's furrow. I think they look kind of similar here, that's cute. Kiryu is ready to break legs and crack some skulls and so am I lol
Such a good dad :(((
Let me add a few things here from substories (I'm sick of that couple)
They looove a good gossip they are so funny. Again, very similar reaction, cute.
The way he looks at her!!! I've been using the word love a lot but he really really loves her so so much. She's his light, his reason to live… well maybe not that, Kiryu is pretty self destructing, let's be honest.
She's the reason he keeps trying and that's enough for now
Yakuza 3 has changed my life forever, byeee
Anyway, I adore their relationship, can't wait to see them in the next game <3 At the same time, haruka's growing up so fast… make it stop please :'((

So I make yakuza presentations for "Powerpoint Nights" with my friends and sometimes I think I'm funny
I mostly make them for myself because meeting your friends as an adult seems impossible, so I laugh alone. I just want someone to talk to about my hyperfixations, is that too much to ask?

If they ever do a Yakuza Kiwami 3...
I hope they add a way in which I can explore the town with the rest of the children and not just with Haruka. Let me commit to being a dad!
Like maybe Taichi will ask you to fight him or to teach him new moves. If you go out with Izumi, she will stop next to the M store and aks you to buy Mame dog food or a toy!
Riona would definitely ask you to take her to play darts or pool, because those are mature games or something like that. And maybe we can take Mitsuo shopping so he can finally get a t-shirt he actually likes...
Koji, easy, he'll ask you to play baseball 24/7 hahaha. Shiro likes math, so maybe he likes to go to the casino to gamble! Only to be disappointed, like: "Having such bad luck… shouldn't be statistically possible uncle Kaz..."
Ayako is the responsible one, she probably takes you to the market to help Haruka with the shopping or asks you to fish the dinner (maybe she has you running around town to exercise lol)
And Eri is so shy and quiet. Kiryu should dust off his toy cars and get her into pocket circuit races, she need to socialise more.
And as group activities, maybe Kiryu could invite them all to dinner. There is a restaurant in Okinawa that has huge tables. They feel empty when Kiryu is the only one eating.

Kiryu doesn’t smoke when Haruka or Rikiya accompany him around town either!
I expected that with Haruka but I glad he had the decency not to smoke next to other people <3 He should have taken the opportunity to quit during his time in prison tbh
I should stop looking at every corner and actually play the game

He doesn't smoke when Haruka accompanies him around town either! Or at least I haven't gotten him to do it.
It makes me want to see if he didn't do it in Yakuza 1 and 2 either.
It seems that Kiryu does not smoke in the orphanage
He has two idle animations, both can play in the down town but I haven't been able to get the one where he smokes in the orphanage.
I know he smokes in some cutscenes, but I think it's cute if he tries to avoid smoking around the kids.
