There is always next year.
This piece was left in the shop. Most everything else from the shop update sold. I will enjoy it for a week or so, then pack away for 2025. Probably, I was not ready to let it go.

These are spun cotton mitten ornaments. The yellow is Egyptian cotton, the rose mittens are Chinese nettle and the black are dyed & color washed poonies(cotton). I just opened a shop on Big Cartel. I like it so far. My first shop update went really well. It is a blessing to have supportive collectors. These will be in my next update.

We all need more Nature in our lives. This is Dear Deer Girl. Besides fitting the “Nature” theme, she is what I term a “cross over” piece. Cross overs are works falling under two or more holidays.

I’m creating a new spun cotton class on advanced armatures. This piece is the inspiration. It’s titled “the Egg Collector”. The newer version is slightly more complex as he has little toes and also wears a party hat.

These are made in a style called “Japan Rabbit”. At one time, in the USA, cupcakes were decorated with cotton bunny heads on a wooden pick. They can still be found, but have become expensive. These heads are made on a machine, cotton fiber- similar to coarse bath tissue, is spun on a dowel. The face is stamped on. I color the faces and add teeth. I make a body and add the ears. They wear little clothes made of cotton or paper.

Spun Cotton Bunny Girls. One has a tiny carrot charm, the other has an egg. The dark collars and cuffs seem to help the lighter colors *pop*.The tinsel thread adds a bit of sparkle.
