My favorite pass time is looking at pictures of hyena cub and going "Banzai and Cheezi“ or "Ed and Cheezi“ and then sometimes you see cubs playing together and think of Janja‘s clan

Hyena cub? Oh yeah! He IS a hyena cub! But! He’s got a name. He should tell him. Which he is trying to do but it’s a bit of a garbled attempt and nothing comprehensive comes out of his mouth due to his excitement- but perhaps because he is also a bit nervous now, although it was not exactly visible due to his current hope.

It doesn’t matter. Name is not important. What’s important is that he is going to see his family again - that’s all that matters.

Cheezi had always been someone who picked up on the emotions of others. His mother‘s impatience and stressful nature. Shenzi‘s nervousness when first babysitting him. His grumpy uncle who sometimes worries. Perhaps that’s why the situation suddenly got less desirable but … that didn’t matter right now. He will be back with dad who usually helps him staying calm. It’s okay! The thought of daddy licking it all better means he can endure a bit of impatience. It’s gonna be okay afterwards, that’s the only thing that currently keeps him levelheaded.

So the cub is doing his very best to keep up with the lion! On occasion he had to jump to keep up with the large creature, usually stumbling over his bow legs, but he would usually get up quickly to run after the lion. He knows where home is so he had to keep up!

His excitement made him also trip a few times, he just couldn’t wait to see his family. Keeps him going. Makes him able to keep up, even if he is staying a bit behind.

Which … aw, man. After a while. he wasted his energy. Due to being born as a sickly cub during the drought, he spend most of his time sleeping. Daddy did manage to raise him in a better shape but he generally tires himself out just as quickly. Even though he is not sick anymore. Not as much, anyway.

He already walked all the way over here searching for a while, getting lost, then the zoomies and now trying his very best to keep up with the lion. They did walk for a while, maybe a little rest? So he goes slower.

No, no. He can’t rest now. Not when this was an opportunity to find them again. So he picks up the pace again but becoming even more tired so he had to sit down. Eyes slowly closing but he shakes his head. Not now! There is no time for sleep.

He squeals after the lion, who was still a bit ahead of him. Short break, maybe? But...that would mean waiting even longer for daddy.

Confusion got expressed on his face as Simba was looking at the cub. Okay, he could walk, there was no doubt. Also, the lion didn't think he would make a hyena happy one day. Weird, isn't? If Simba was softer, maybe he even would think this cub is cute. And indeed, Cheezi was harmless. Innocent. Had done nothing wrong yet, he was just like any other animal in the Circle of Life. Yes, Simba should have seen him as such, however, he was not able to that. All he could see was the seed of Evil.

Who, moreover, was very annoying. Come on! They should be going faster than that! Simba didn't have time for these... zoomies. He should have already been at the Water Hole by now! How would he able to take his daily schedule today? He should finish the morning patrol by mid-day, then he should meet the Elephants, then marry an aardvark couple, then discuss the water problem with crocodiles and hippos -- oh, an not to mention that he could run into Thruston any time who would defenitely be slowing him down.

"Aaah," Simba sighed. "I don't have time for this." Frustration burst out, but he muttered to himself rather than to Cheezi.

"Come on, hyena cub," his voice was louder now. "Let's go, let's go." Cheezi just showed how perfect he was in moving, so Simba knew that walking faster shouldn't be a problem. However, the lion hoped he wouldn't have to carry him in his mouth.

By the way, what would the others think if they noticed him escorting a hyena cub? Should Simba feel ashamed? He is the king, so he can do whatever he wants right?

The distance didn't decrease so fast, and a minute felt like a year. Also, the more Simba thought about his tasks, the more impatient he became. Oh, this journey was going to be longer than he thought.

Cheezi core honestly

#ooc #he doesn’t really care about how hyena stuff works he is doing his own thing #ed had kept him away from the rest of the clan when he was sick #and then he grows up with a clan who’s just winging it #he doesn’t know how an hyena clan actually works and he also does not really care #Cheezi is playing by his own rules #look he can be nice but it doesn’t change the fact that he is a rowdy teenager #i need to do more with that jerkish side of him to begin with

Cheezi and Chungu not understanding the "outta the way“ song despite the fact how simple it is and then only getting it later when they carry out the plan is actually so valid because sometimes you just gotta experience that stuff first to get it

Speaking of - even for all his abandonment issues, even as a cub Cheezi already figured that this has nothing to do with his dad or uncle leaving him behind. He has thoughts "why did they leave?” yes, but he also figures that this has something to do with the fire and the animals that chase them out of his former home again, blaming them for preventing him to see his dad.

It’s a tiny bit more complicated as a teen. He spend years thinking that Janja and Chungu were the only family he has ever known when suddenly two hyenas appear that feel familiar with everything and turn out to be his father and uncle - and yet he has forgotten them. It's why not rushing the reunion is so important.

He already has to process that and come in terms with it. If you try too hard to bond with him, become to hasty with him, ask him to join them instead that only drives him further away from you. He doesn't blame any of them for what happened, he is not mad at them, but you can't expect him to be onboard with the idea after everything that happened.

If anything he is mad at how everything turned out.

On top of that, when the memories DO come back he just feels uncomfortable about it. Because that begs the question for him: how different would have things been if he never got seperated from them? Having the memories back will be a lot more painful for him.

Cub Cheezi probably found the den at some point again because he was so stubborn and kept coming back, remained in there and waited for Ed and Banzai to return but others eventually were alerted about his presence and had to drag him out kicking and screaming (':

Playing around with the dialogue for where they found each other after the fire for both cub and teen and it's just? He definitely managed to be a tad more sassier
