Ok so.

I wanna talk about this now that its been a week, and maybe its a bad idea to bring this all up again but I don’t care bc I’m pissed.

I wanted to go on a little rant about the whole “but watcher doesn’t *have* to produce high quality shows!¡!¡!” Argument, bc its making me mad that y’all disregarded the work - and money - that goes into their videos

Alright. Let’s say they agreed to just produce your “lower budget” videos. Ghost Files is immediately gone, forever. Travel costs way too much for a low budget channel. That means little to no tours either, so we can kiss Food Files goodbye too for the most part. That new season of Weird Wonderful World y’all keep begging for? Not happening either. Even if they just kept it to LA, its still a lot of money to go to and film in places considered tourist attractions.

Now, Mystery Files would probably be okay, and Too Many Spirits probably would too - as long as the ingredients needed for the drinks weren’t to pricey. Puppet History on the other hand would be jeopardized, because I doubt the materials Shane uses to make the puppets are cheap - either he’d have to recycle old puppets over and over again or there’d just be no new songs at the end of every episode, which I know y’all would complain about. Are You Scared? Probably alright, depending on how much they pay their artist (shout out to Mollie Ong <3) for the drawings in each episode.

Dish Granted would also never get renewed, although clearly none of you care about that because you have a deep festering hatred for Steven - which is absolutely disgusting, by the way.

Anyway, yeah. Just wanted to let y’all know that you should think before you say shit like that. And also, Shane, Ryan, and Steven should be able to make what they want and not have to bend to the whims of advertisers and their whiny immature audience. They left Buzzfeed for that exact reason, so turning around and asking them to “just make it lower budget” is straight up disrespectful of their entire career and livelihood.

If you agree with me or wanna add more insight, great. If you wanna bitch at me for pointing out the obvious, fuck off, I’m not listening. If you’re tired of the drama, ignore this post and sorry for ranting or whatever, just needed to get this off my chest.

what is very annoying about the vast majority of batfam fans is the very surface level approach they take towards calling out racism in dc canon and fandom. yes, you want damian to be brown in the comics but do you care about how his mother’s character was butchered due to post 9/11 anti-arab racism? yes, you want cass and duke to be featured more prominently in comics but would you be okay with them displacing your own faves in order to do so? do you even read the comics they ARE featured in, or are you content with just reblogging their one panel cameos from your fave’s solos, extolling how much you “love” them (so long as they are second fiddle, that is)? you want jason or dick (whichever you prefer) to co-parent lian, all the while sidelining jade - you are content relegating jade and talia and shado and shiva to a joking “assassin moms” punchline when you talk about their kids while not realising the implications of their race and how it plays into their portrayal by dc.

you can’t just reblog a vague post about colouring damian correctly and wanting representation and then uncritically reblog another post about how evil his mother is - you’re playing into the exact same racism you claim to denounce, while feeling like you’re being so very progressive while doing it. it’s not like i’m expressing a particularly novel sentiment either, and i’m aware i probably sound like a broken record right now but it’s just so irritating
