He took a careful breath, still eyeing her. “I’m gonna need some time.” He glanced down at the book again, turning the page. “Not too long but enough to do some research. I want to make sure I find the right thing.” He flipped another page, still staring at the book. He could find the spell, right? He could at least find something that worked. Meddling with Isak’s head seemed cruel especially with the damaged that he’d already caused but this one act could save his entire family and he wasn’t about to pass that offer up.
“I understand.” He explained. “I’m asking because I do take this seriously. Very seriously.”

An Unexpected Visit II Spencer and Tatyana
Tatyana knew how much weight her offer held, for both Spencer and for herself. It would give Spencer something she assumed that he had figured he would never get again, and for her it would rob the vampire of the loyal witch family she had had by her side for years. Finding another witch wouldn’t necessarily be difficult, but finding one with the abilities of Spencer would be, not to mention that it would take her years to feel any sort of loyalty again.
And yet, it was a decision made without a second thought, something that she knew would be worth it if it meant that Isak was fixed. The offer certainly wasn’t one that she gave without knowing of the consequences, it was just something that she needed so badly that she was willing to give anything. “If you’re able to get me my family back, then you can have yours as well,” she confirmed, “I won’t bother you again.”
Although she knew that Spencer was positive of the huge gift she was giving him if he succeeded, she still felt the need to drive it home one more time, “You know this is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” she reminded him, “This isn’t the kind of thing that comes around twice.”

Spencer doubted she’d go through with it because despite how strong she was appearing here there was something about her that was soft. It was like she hadn’t yet been broken by the world, hadn’t yet had her hope squeezed out of her. She acted like she still saw a future. Maybe the analysis was all wrong but from Spencer’s perspective thats what he saw.
“The name of the spell.” He repeated. “If I gave it to you then you might try again and we already have enough trouble on our hands as it is.” He exhaled. “It’d be irresponsible and reckless for me if I did so once again I’m going to have to refuse.” He hesitated a moment. “The bracelet however I can be motivated to part with. I understand the value of sentimental objects.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “I’d be willing to trade it in exchange for spell books.”

Spencer hesitated, unsure what to say. Oliver had always thought highly of him, something Spencer had always thought was misplaced. If he was as important as Oliver said then he wouldn’t have managed to get himself into this mess in the first place.
He nodded. “I’m fine.” He said, his breath a little shaky as he forced a smile. “Besides I’ve got it all under control. I just don’t want to risk anything in case things go sour again.” He bowed his head a moment before looking up at him. “Of course. Thank you for the offer.”

“But—” Oliver started, though, he dropped his hand from the other man’s shoulder and let out a sigh with a nod. He knew he shouldn’t push further than what he needed to, but still, something was nagging at him to get more information out of him, especially after him mentioning that it just seemed to be a huge mess. “Spencer Blake Redmond…” He started, using his middle name in a stern tone.
“Of course I understand, but…that doesn’t mean I accept it. You’re too important to let yourself get involved into shit like this— whatever it may be.” Oliver rubbed at his temple and shook his head. “I’m not just going to let you walk away like this. If you need anything, let me know.”

Spencer rolled his eyes, smiling ever so slightly. “Thats one take on it.”

Antonia turned to see the man, a smile relishing at her lips. “Doesn’t matter what I am. As long as I look good doing it.”

Spencer cocked his head to the side. “And why are you telling me this?” He rolled his eyes. “Surely it’s not just to inform the masses.” He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning backwards in his seat. “What’s your play?”

He smiled, “I knew you were able to see what I saw in you, well not the darkness of course. It’s more of this annoying white light.” he said as he shunned away from him. He looked back at the other, “I’ve been practicing dark magic for as long as I could remember. It’s become my form of light, you know?” he explained to the other warlock.

Spencer nodded. So there were elements of both though he figured it was moreso the latter than the former. Spencer nodded, understanding. He was sure if something had happened to tarnish his family name then he’d be quick to find some way to defend it. Still he couldn’t imagine Simon doing anything bad.
Spencer paused at Oliver’s touch, turning to face him. “I-I can’t.” He muttered, not having the strength to just get up and go like he should. “I can’t because if I do I’ll involve you in all of this shit and I can not have someone else to worry about in this whole mess.” He explained before he even had a chance to second guess himself. “You understand, right?”

“I want to be on it because I think I could be a good addition.” That was a lie, and he knew it. “And because I know it means a lot to my family legacy. It’s important, and sometimes you have to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Plus, I can’t just let the Heaton name go to waste with my cousin’s abrupt departure.”
Nodding back, Oliver understood those words. Things were always complicated, weren’t they? And he didn’t need more explanation than that if Spencer wasn’t willing to give him anything more. “I’m not worried, I trust you Spence.” He stated, taking a hand onto his shoulder. “Hey… hey…don’t leave, we just got reconnected again, at least let me give you my number so we can meet up again if you want? It has been a long time.”

“Technically. But if I’m already walking somewhere then it’s not really making me go out of my way.”

“But you have to walk around to catch Pokemon? So the only difference is that it’s more work.”
Tumblr media
“It’s easy to play, you can kind of play literally anywhere. So you know, that’s probably why it’s so popular.”

Spencer stared at the phone apprehensively. “Right, I’ve heard that. Promotes healthy outdoor exploration or some shit.”
Tumblr media
“Right, well it’s a fun game that can be played on the phone. Makes it a lot easier to play and also has forced me to actually go outside.”

“My childhood didn’t suck thank you very much.” Spencer replied curtly. “It’s not. I just wonder why so many people are obsessed with it when Pokemon has been around for years.”
Tumblr media
“Sorry your life sucks and you’re childhood was miserable.” Zachary said sarcastically with a roll of his eyes. “It’s a simple game that amuses me. It’s not that difficult to get.”

“No, it’s the sound of somebody who outgrew his Pokemon years ten years ago.” Spencer countered. “I just don’t get the appeal.”

“I literally don’t care. Move, I’m gay and according to this, there’s a Jigglypuff nearby.”

He shrugged. “Politics have never interested me.” He lied. “Plus I’m far too busy for any of that. Work, classes, I have way too much going on to keep up with all the drama.” Spencer rolled his eyes. “Must not be worth your time.” He stated. “Can’t say I have too much experience in that department.” That wasn’t a lie. Spencer hadn’t had any time for anything other than work and he’d never dated anyone man or woman.

“Cynthia.” She answered as soon as he asked. She wasn’t sure what the young man’s intentions were, but maybe making new friends wouldn’t hurt her. It would actually benefit her. “Oh, you’re not? How come?” She asked, not knowing if he would give an answer or not. She chuckled at his reaction. “Something like that. It’s a funny story, but apparently he didn’t remember meeting me the first time. He called me a filthy blood sucker the second time.” She laughed it off, and shook her head. “Boys, you know?”

Spencer cocked his head to the side. He’d known something was up with the council but he hadn’t know how bad it was. So a new government was forming? “Why do you want to be on it?” Spencer asked, feeling like he was asking a dumb question. Moreso he just wanted to know if Oliver wanted to be on it for political reasons or just to correct the association with his family name. In the Supernatural word and the human one names carried weight but especially old families it seemed that one persons actions could define the whole line.
Spencer felt guilt settle deep into his stomach at the question. It’d been selfish to have this moment, to give himself the opportunity to have this talk. “It’s complicated.” He muttered, swallowing hard and avoiding eye contact. Spencer had always been a good liar to strangers but with family or friends you could see right through him. “Nothing to worry about though. You know what I should go. I’ve already taken up too much of your time.” He turned to go, feeling the nerves grow in the pit of his stomach. He’d fucked up. He’d fucked up bad.

At his question, he only shook his head with a short chuckle. Still, seeing his old friend was something he had never thought would happen again, so it was a nice afterthought before he added, “I’m not on the Council, yet. It’s more so because my family name is in shambles because of my cousin’s betrayal in just leaving everything behind.” He stated. “I would love to be on the future one, though right now, there’s been a lot of controversy with it all.”
At the admittance that he and Simon weren’t really friends, a brow lifted in confusion, wondering if something had happened between the two siblings to give them a sort of fallout. “Spencer…why can’t he know you’re here?” In a sense, he still felt like Spencer’s older brother, and hearing that worried him.

He didn’t bother to correct her that he wasn’t in fact the person that’d started this mess. Tatyana had been the one to bring this storm over all of their lives not him. He’d been roped into this just as she was. “You’re threatening to tell people? I’m sure they wouldn’t be too pleased about your involvement either or your friend, Nicholas’s for that matter.” He gave her a look, tilting his head to the side as he waited for her to somehow counter the statement.
“Well what I want depends on what you want. Clearly you have something I mean you’re the one who stalked me down the alleyway. Just the bracelet or something more?” He asked. At the mention of her bracelet he rolled his eyes. “I don’t remember right now but if I had a look around I’m sure I could find it.” He knew exactly where it was, cabinet in the bookshelf, top shelf, next to the doodads he’d collected to help with spell work. He wasn’t about to give it up and certainly not for nothing.
