In case anyone needed a reminder that our so-called "justice" system was set up to protect the interests of wealthy white men, one need look no further than the news about Harvey Weinstein today.
If he didn't want people testifying against him, he should have kept his pants on.

Honor Blackman undoubtedly helped increase viewers' interest in The Avengers. Despite having fewer resources, she paved the way for Diana Rigg. All the elements that contributed to international success were developed between 1961 and 1964.

Dear men whose blogs consist of whingey posts about how much you hate Taylor Swift and Beyoncé alongside pix of women with ample bosoms: you are not the cool edgelords you think yourselves to be. Rather, you are insufferable and will be blocked on sight.

Also the issue of when you figure out you're autistic and suddenly people are willing to accommodate you because now you have a name for it, and you're like "why couldn't you have done this when I was a kid, I'm literally still the same person with the same issues."
Any other late-diagnosed autistics out there go through a stage of being ABSOLUTELY ENRAGED about having been treated horribly their whole lives for having what's turned out to be a medical condition? Because I now want to fight my entire family of origin, a bunch of doctors, several professors, many former "friends," and my ex.
I wasn't lying. I wasn't exaggerating. I wasn't a shitty person. I was and am and always will be autistic. And I deserve to live.

And I've found that this can change as one gets older. Thirty years ago, I could listen to songs that had words and write at the same time. I can't do that anymore.
I can do art and listen to things with words, but I cannot word and listen to words simultaneously now.
Neurodivergent lightbulb
Lately, I have been having these neurodivergent lightbulb moments. They always follow the same pattern:
1. I have a question about human behavior. Example: How can people call and/or listen to music while riding their bikes?
2. I will, slowly , realize that this behavior is caused by other people NOT being neurodivergent. Usually, this realisation is something along the lines of: gosh dammit, it's impossible for me because I have disorders.
I believe this is a new phase in my journey towards full neurodivergent acceptance. I think I will call it "Oh, right, I am Different(TM)."

I get the impression that Izzy Hands would sign his own kids up for conversion therapy.
OK, OK, but, like, even IF Ed was depressed and in need of help, in WHAT FUCKING WORLD is "stop being gay or I'll kill you" a mental health intervention?!

We're glad you're here. Hope this helps!
Could I get a hug thread going?
I am dealing with a lot of personal things at home and online that I am feeling really strained from... I'm at the point where I just wanna hide away and never come back online and I could just really use some hugs from folk and tell me it's okay to stay. I feel very alone... and I know I'm not alone, so I'm trying to reach out and ask for some hugs.

Yes, but ... if the ship is from Spain, this actually isn't a terrible idea? Maybe somebody on board is current or former clergy or was subjected to a Jesuit education, or both, and someone like that will have at least some Latin.

Twitter users are defending their right to assume Picasso was a renaissance artist. Tiktok users think watching any film made outside the US makes you a snob. “Replace classic lit with YA and fan fiction” discourse is flourishing. I think we’re just living in anti intellectual times.
