today is the day the Flash allegedly vanishes after a fight with the Reverse Flash.

In other news, has anyone seen Barry Allen today? He didn't come into work this morning.

#the flash #the best way to write a cover up as to why barry vanished is to make other people die or vanish during crisis #sorry to those other people it’s either that or barry went MIA during the universe shift and nobody else did #the logistics of ‘we can’t pronounce barry allen dead in case he comes back but we don’t really know’ #anyway iris and cisco get close and weird about it in the aftermath #does he come back in a year? does he come back in a decade? does he never come back? all drama #and my favorites of those are the first or third option #oh or maybe almost 30 years just to be cheeky like irl

I will continue my life happily never thinking about anything from the flash post season 5 (aside from exactly five minutes in season 8 where we had eobard/iris bad future) but

Still absolutely insane that they did crisis on infinite earths as a crossover, and made it entirely about jerking off Oliver Queen. (Who they made the specter but didn’t have the decency to pout him in the speedo.) Eobard never showed up! (Which, sure, he never shows up in OG crisis but I always liked him being there in some capacity. Not leading the charge, crossovers always lost the eobard plot entirely there) like, sure, I did cry about them wrapping 90s flash but not having our barry vanish felt insulting!

Imo it works far better as a nebulous “this will happen at some point in the future after the show is over” vs…that

If I write more flash things past, uh, today, I’m a bit caught up in irl stuff, please give me some grace, the future newspaper still makes me insane all these years later

It finally arrived and I’d almost forgotten

The CW Flash’s universe hinges entirely on a future that no longer exists outside of Gideon’s memory bank and Eobard’s memories. And Gideon has been quiet for years.

I know the show did a paltry…something with CW Gideon but I’ve been attached to the idea that Gideon only knows /a/ future, not /the/ future, or that her archives - the real thing, not just what Barry uses to leave his dying message - can only be accessed by exactly one person not named Eobard Thawne.

Almost forgot I had so many feelings about Gideon, almost entirely vis-a-vis her role in connecting the original flavor comics timeline and the paradoxical existence of the CW flash timeline. Barry invented her! And he may well have done it again, one day. Or perhaps not.
