We are Southern Counties Rescue, a cat and kitten rescue. We saved this sweet little guy from a life on the streets. After a few days in his foster home, his foster mom noticed that he was breathing a little fast. She went into "watch mode", counting his breaths per minute. Normal for a kitten is 24-30; his was over 100. She immediately took him to our vet. After an examination and X-rays, the doctor sent the foster and Stevie to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with pulmonary edema caused by congestive heart failure. He spent the next 36 hours at the hospital with an IV and on oxygen. We aren't sure how bad he is so we are scheduling an ultrasound to determine a course of treatment. Right now, he is home with his foster mom and thanks to the medicines the hospital sent home with him, his breathing is much better. This kitten is only three months old. With treatment, he could live many years. In addition to his hospitalization, the upcoming ultrasound and whatever additional medications he needs, we have incurred a substantial expense. Money well spent in our opinion because this little guy deserves a chance at a life. Please help us give that to him by donating. No amount is too small. Tux was a bottle baby and it shows with his total love of humans. As one of the first kittens to the door when the foster opens up the kitten room, he is sure to ask for pets and love. Tux was a microkitten, most likely born with a 2-week shorter gestation period than his litter mates. While he has grown up into a sweet, handsome boy, he's still growing into his beautiful eyes - something we think makes him so special. While Tux is always one of the first to the doors, he is always the first to the food bowl when wet food is served, often bouncing between plates to find the perfect bite. He is as playful as he is sweet, which makes him a perfect balance for someone looking for a playful kitten who also wants to cuddle. His favorite toy is his brothers and cousins in the kitten room. Tux has been regularly exposed to dogs including a labrador and cocker spaniel and is very good with other cats. Tux would need a fur buddy. Junior is named after his likeness to his momma, Poppy. Junior was bottle-fed for a bit, so has a bond with humans that runs deep. He is one of the boys that runs straight to the door and bombards his foster mom when she comes in the kitten room. He's there waiting for love every single time. He also hangs out with the other bottle babies when the humans sit on the floor, patiently waiting for his turn to be kissed and hugged. He is playful and loving, and really likes to wrestle with the other boys. He really likes balls and can be found in a pile of kittens playing. Junior has been exposed to dogs including a cocker spaniel and Labrador that spends time in the kitten room. He does have a special connection with Tux on of the fosters. Cubby is the fosters partner in sweeping, mopping, and cleaning litter boxes. He is very interested in the broom and dust pan and chases the broom and always seems to be running through the dirt pile. He is also all boy and loves wrestling and playing at this point of kittenhood, but has been socialized so purrs when held. Besides the broom and mop, he really enjoys toys and especially sparkle balls. He has been exposed to dogs as a Labrador and cocker spaniel visit the kitten room often. Bo, or Bo Bo, is a sweet playful boy who loves wrestling and playing. He is all boy. With his beautiful markings and blue-green eyes, he's a stunner. Looking for a lap kitten? That's Jocelyn. Playful, curious Jocelyn, loves her siblings, Jake, Jesse and James and her human family. Jesse, also a lap kitten, loves to sleep in her foster dad's lap. Theodore, aka Teddy, is an incredibly sweet, cuddly boy and purring machine. Once he is in our arms, he lets his body go limp like a ragdoll and seems to relax instantly with the caresses. He has also made biscuits a couple of times while laying on top of my daughter as she pet him. Teddy is a bundle of energy when he is in play mode, jumps incredibly high and pounces with all his might... unlike his sister Grace who is more delicate when she plays. He loves his sister Gracie and would be happy being adopted with her or to be best buddies with your kitty. Dio and Arty, great Bengal tabby mix kittens. Dio is a comfort boy, he loves to cuddle and sleep whereas Arty is an adventurous boy and loves to explore and play all day. Clover was a bottle baby and given lots of attention and is a very special boy. He is one of the first kittens to the door when the foster opens the kitten room and always waits for pets and kisses. Clover is full of energy and is one of the most playful kittens of all. He loves to explore and is curious. With his gorgeous silver/gray markings, he is a stunner. Clover's best buddy of all is a large husky-mix. They bonded when he was bottle fed and Clover runs to the gate to say hello.
