From left to right in the top row is; Lemon, Cez, Theta, Celeste, Soule, Matcha, Patch, and Tefkat. Lemon is a tan rabbit-like furry, Cez is a light skinned person with antennae and dark hair, Theta is a dark humanoid creature, and Celeste is a light skinned person with auburn hair. Soule is a stout brown skinned person with small horns, Matcha is a tan skinned person with ginger hair along with pointed ears and antennae, and Tefkat is a grey skinned humanoid with cat ears. In a cycle of the animation, Theta and Soule change to different casual outfits and looks, with Soule being a dark goat-like furry in the iteration.

From left to right in the bottom row is; Lemon clone, Zella, High Priestess, The Fool, Mar. Ina, Aranda, Cel, Matcha, Patch, and Tefkat. The Lemon clone is similar to Lemon but desaturated, Zella is a quadruped wisp, High Priestess is a bug-like fae creature, and The Fool is a dark humanoid creature. Mar. Ina is a shark on a scooter device, Aranda is a light skinned person wearing a mask, and Cel is a dark wisp. Matcha, Patch, and Tefkat share the same appearances as their post-game look but with outfit and hair style changes. /End ID]

came back wrong trope but the character knows that they came back wrong. they’re so acutely aware of how different they are now from how they were before that it drives them fucking insane. they’re stuck trying to return to somebody that’s long dead. they can never be the person they once were. everybody around them knows it. deep down, they know it too, but they’re trapped in a cycle of their own making. of trying to revive someone that no longer exists.

YEAG SO TRUE.. #THE MOST TROPE EVER !!! #i also really love that it can be interpreted as a fantasy parallel to someone coping after traumatic events- #LIKE... the distant yearn to be your carefree silly self from before shit went down?? #but u can't cause these events have rooted themselves so deep into u- its essentially made u into a different person than how u used to be #its like AUGH AUGH.. #then this slowly treads to the trope of the character learning to accept and love their new identity- embracing this new start- #bonus points if with the support of a new found family :] #anywho just realized thru typing this that all my most fav characters from media are this trope wheeze- #(i say this and its just. 2-4 characters sfsgFHD but then again i dont usually follow too much media-) #anywho anywho :] reblogging here for normal reasons #tfj oc type #(new tag for these kinds of posts now so folks can be spared from my tag rambles fhdSGDH o7)

considering.. in addition to being fluid with outfits they're also fluid with their human/true form appearance and are much more often either 'partially' shifted with traits from the two or casually swaps both forms more naturally depending on how he feels like presenting :]

extra bonus commentary and notes below WAAUGHH..

aze thinks ppl 'respawn' since theres still a leftover but unconscious memory of when they were still traveling around the game world as soule (ie back when he was aware he was trapped in a game hence 'video game' mechanic mindset)

prev: unfortunately for him ppl don't actually respawn :[ (cringefail moment)

when aze said this claim to adventurer- they didn't believe him but didn't dismiss him to not be rude, ie went along with it (hence why adventurer at the end was horrified before meeting their fate :[)

at the end aze assumes adventurer is conscious and alive at their 'respawn point' and not died deaded killt- the guilt they feel is a deja vu one of failing someone + being abandoned as a result :pensive: (they get the 'i killed someone' guilt/blame later in early post after recovering their memories)

also on a meta note i thought it was funni calling this 'The Dragon and the adventurer' with the 'dragon' part capitalized and the 'adventurer' part not capitalized to emphasize how aze was a former hero/player and the adventurer was just an '''unimportant''' game npc of many (it sounded cooler in my head hsdjkSD..)

anywho mainly wrote out this fic as a brainstorm practice for ocs i don't make physical content of much and also to sorta build more lore/beliefs/worldbuilding with them? (that and also wanted to have more fucked parallels with aze to azel'ec/past soule since cel already has some)

for this one also tried to expand on aze's relationship/ties with the wisps, the danger of the forest and obstacles- also wanted a main reason for why/when aze started isolating from the forest more (aside for mar. ina- tho i personally think the lab incident only made them isolate from her rather than the forest hence this fic event)

that said uh uhh

*eggman alfred voice* i miss adventurer. i miss them a lot.

The Dragon and the adventurer

Most, if not all, were hapless victims to the twisted dark woods of the Crumbling Castle.

Whether it were for pride or innocent curiosity, the reason for these travelers' venture into the forest never mattered in the end, as it always ended in the same fate: disappearance.

Eventually... there was one who came that proved to be "quite" different than the others before them.

They had a playful happy go lucky attitude, treating the dangerous woods as if it were a mere sports obstacle. An attitude that could've been easily mistaken for foolish ignorance.

Despite this, they've shown to be clever- clearly having experienced similar feats beforehand.

And despite the dragon's efforts... the adventurer still remained.
