"Thanks," she said. Wyatt smirked. "Really? You don't have many regulars who know how to ride her?" she asked. "That's actually kind of sad. Don't worry though," she said. "I will be sure to give a good show with her, just for you. I mean, after the drink, but still," she added with a small laugh.
Tumblr media
"You got it," he said with a smile. He started to mix her drink together, before looking back up at her as she spoke about Millie. He couldn't help but laugh a little bit at her words. "Well, then. I guess go for it whenever you're ready. It's not often I run into someone who knows what they're doing with her, after all."

When he told her he'd never played, a smirk graced her features. Scarlett could have fun with this. "Is that so?" she asked, moving closing, reaching forward to put a hand gently on his shoulder. "I'm sure I could teach you a thing or two," she told him softly, her eyes flicking to the table briefly before letting them scan him over from head to toe. "What do you say?"

——- Austin was always one to go a bit hard when he was at a bar and at least get a bit tipsy — unless he had a means home before he'd go hard enough to be drunk and slurring his words. it was a wonder how he hasn't gotten taken advantage of in his new uncaring means — usually just flirting his way to get laid. blueish green eyes look towards the woman at the pool table, rather impressed til she spoke to him. ❝  oh, i never really played, ❞ he admitted as he gently walked towards her, offering a friendly smile.

"Come on," Scarlett said, taking a few steps closer. "You're really that afraid to lose?" she asked. He should be worried he'd lose, because she was that good. Still, she liked a challenge, and that's what he was giving her right now. "What's a broke guy doing at a bar where they serve clearly overpriced drinks?" she asked.
Drumming her fingers on the pool table for a minute, she grinned. "Let's find another prize then. One that.. doesn't involve any buying of anything," she propositioned.

No one had ever accused Tallahassee of being a man of grace, and he would be the first to tell anyone who would listen that he lost his last shreds of dignity back in 2006 when he fell head-first off a stage in Santa Fe. Fucking Santa Fe, of all the places to leave your self-respect. And no self-respecting addict ended up sitting at a bar – especially not under the guise of 'testing their willpower.' But Tal did it once every few weeks, just to call the universe's will into question. He did it with a chip in his hand, and spending so much goddamn money on Dr. Thunder or whatever off-brand soda the bartender poured him that he had started to (unconvincingly) try to tell the bartender he was a designated driver to get it for free. (He dropped the bit when the bartender called bullshit and Tallahassee tried to prove him wrong by giving the remnants of a bachelor party home, and his poor Bronco paid the price. Karma was a cruel bitch indeed.)
Then Tallahassee received a proposition, and if the universe were actually testing him, he wasn't going to fail an open notes quiz. He laughed, shaking his head like she'd just challenged him to the New York City Marathon. "No way. You're a goddamn shark, and I can't swim. I may not be a smart man, but I am a broke one, so I know a hustle when I hear it."

Marina couldn't help laughing while she stood back and watched her sister paint. She hadn't yet made her presence known, but it was fun for her to see the other woman doing a mediocre job at best, given how seemingly perfect she was at everything else. Finally standing next to her she shook her head. "You've never been good at this, Ellie," the younger woman stated. "Seriously," she continued, pointing up at a spot she'd watched her paint. "Did you try at all here or did you just give up and decide to be a hot mess?" she teased.

Community Mural at the Brooklyn Art Festival | Open starter | @bhqextras
It was rare that Eleanor had a weekend off from the hospital so she thought she'd make the most out of her weekend. After making plans with her sister and her boyfriend, Eleanor found that she still had some free time on her hands. She heard about Brooklyn's annual art festival and the event was only a short walk from her brownstone. After stopping by a couple of stalls, she found herself at the community mural. She grabbed a tin of paint, a paintbrush and a number and started to paint inside the lines the best she could. As a surgeon, you'd think she'd be better at this but the messiness of the paint was proving otherwise. Stepping back from her spot, she looked over at the person beside her and flashed a smile. "I honestly didn't think this would be that hard," she admitted, looking down at her now paint stained clothes. Luckily she hadn't worn anything too expensive nor that she was too fond of. "But as you can probably tell by my clothes, I'm not doing that good of a job."

"As my brother, you're supposed to take my side and encourage the poor guy," she said. "I'd do it for you." Scarlett let out a cold chuckle. She knew to expect this from Adam. He was judgmental, and she always knew that he was like that. "See, this is why I don't talk to you guys. You barely know me but you're always swift to make a snap judgement over my every move," she said. "I live here. In New York, I mean," she explained. "Needed a change of scenery after I got released," she told him, not specifying from where. "And for the record, I only really disappeared, what, twice? That one time when I was a teenager, and then when I was in my twenties and moved away with my boyfriend. The second time just happened to last almost a decade."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Maybe I was just looking out for the poor guy who was about to get scammed for a bottle of beer." Adam wished that he could be surprised about what Scarlett was doing, but it seemed to be right on brand for her. "I guess we're both just full of surprises. I show up at bars and you disappear out of the blue, without a trace in order to engage in your drug fuelled benders." Adam snapped as his harsh words came out like poison. He wanted to be sympathetic, but he was slowly starting to run out of empathy for his younger sister. "What are you even doing here Scarlett?"

Katie had only ordered a breakfast croissant. She had a day off from doing shows,, and that day off meant doing some errands, and treating herself to the flaky, buttery baked good that this place did so well. She picked it up at the end of the counter once it was packaged up for her, and she was going to just head out when someone began to speak.
"I do," she told her softly. Looking at the second drink in her hands, she smiled slightly. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Because I'd appreciate it a lot. There's so much to get done today."

location — a café in manhattan.
much like a majority of the population, andrea needed a good, strong coffee to start her day off the right way. her employees learnt in the early days that she could barely function without a caffeine hit, which was what lead her waiting in line for coffee, her eyes were glued onto her phone onto her name was called.
once at the counter, she saw her name on two takeaway cups, despite only ordering one. of course, she wasn’t one to complain and seeing as the establishment was practically bursting at the seams, she turned her head to person closest to her. “hey, do you drink lattes with one sugar by any chance? they accidentally gave me two, but there’s no way i can drink both. you’re so welcome to take it if you’d like?”

"You can be, because I know that after I walk out of here later, I won't hear from you for a week. You'll drop off the face of the Earth, and that is why we aren't together anymore," Wyatt pointed out. It was a little passive aggressive, but she wasn't wrong. "A-and this," she said, her breath hitching in her throat as Abigail kissed her neck. "This is cheating, because I can't be mad at you as much when you do that," she added. "Mm, that sounds nice, I guess. I could go for one of their burgers for sure," she admitted.

The feelings were always there, but they could never seem to make it last for more than a couple weeks at a time. "You're at least going to buy us takeout now, aren't you?"

"Come on, for real?" Daisy asked. "You want to come play that?" she asked. The blonde wasn't expecting the other woman to even entertain such a suggestion, but she nodded. "You let me know what Saturday works best, and I'll see which works best for me with the club, and we'll make it happen."
Tumblr media
Liz laughed along with her before shaking her head. Maybe it was just her special skill? But she realized she was only good at it when she's had a little alcohol in her system. At Daisy's suggestions, Liz smiled, "I would actually love to play that game. Maybe one of these Saturdays when I don't have to go into work the next morning? And the idea of playing Hungry Hungry Hippos is so nostalgic right now. I'd love that, really."

Scarlett admittedly was not expecting to see her brother there. So when he approached her and spoke the the man she was speaking to, she wasn't sure how to feel. Of course she knew he was probably standing there judging her with a look of disappointment. She downed the last half of her beer as if it were just water, before setting the bottle down on a nearby table. Watching the guy walk away, she rolled her eyes. "Thanks for that. I haven't bought a drink for myself all night, and you just had to scare that one away," she snapped. "It's been a while, Adam. Didn't think this kind of bar was your scene."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Eleanor busy all night at work, Adam found himself battling boredom at the bar. As a bit of a workaholic, the male struggled when it came to just sitting at home doing nothing. Sitting at the bar, Adam ordered his third whiskey for the evening, thanking the bartender as he brought the rim of the glass to his lips. His eyes focused back on the muted football game that played on the small TV screen behind the bar, when suddenly he heard a familiar voice. For a moment, Adam felt like he was hearing phantom voices, what were they putting in the whiskey? With furrowed brows, Adam shifted on the stool, looking towards the pool table as he saw a brunette talking to a disinterested guy. Adam's heart sank as he quickly recognised her, trying to process quickly that his younger sister was there. Discarding the whiskey, Adam walked over towards her. "I wouldn't bother, she's practically a world champion when it comes to pool." Adam warned the guy, when in reality he could never shake off the protective brother trope.

"Really really," she said. "I wanted to be able to help people. And I did," she said. Scarlett sighed. She didn't know what her sister was thinking. She had her assumptions though. "It's fine. You're judging, but it's fine. I've lived my life under scrutiny for the shit I've done," she said. Scarlett shook her head. "It's fine. You're giving me housing for the night, I guess it's the least I can do so you're not letting a total stranger crash at your place" she pointed out. "You can ask questions, you know. I'm not necessarily going to answer depending on what it is, but you can ask."
Tumblr media
"Social work? Really?" she asked, trying hard not to sound surprised. In all actuality, Liz shouldn't be that surprised. Their mother was so loving and kind and instilled that into her children at a young age. Liz grew up wanting to help people and so did Scarlett. They actually weren't that different after all. "That's amazing," Liz started but she paused when Scarlett chuckled. As her sister started to finish her story, she frowned. She hated the way her story was turning out. Liz had heard of Secondary Traumatic Stress Disorder and how prevalent it was in the social work community. She wished her sister never had to experience that but she couldn't go back and change the past. Looking over at her sister, she noticed her bouncing leg and that she was picking at her nails. She didn't know if she was making her anxious or if it was something else. "We can talk about something else, you know?" she offered. "I don't want you thinking I'm forcing you to talk."

The Broadway performer knew she shouldn't have cigarettes on her, but she did. It was so bad for her, for her lungs and her voice. But she couldn't help it. She liked having one or two socially. "I do," she said softly, reaching into her bag to subtly hand him over the pack. "Yeah, sure. A drink would be nice," Katie said, offering a small smile.

"Pardon me, love, I hate to trouble you—" Except that's not true. "But, do you have a cigarette you can spare?" For how often Mikala finds himself with a cigarette between his lips, he seldom carries a pack of his own, preferring to bum them from a stranger or familiar face. "I'll buy you a drink as thanks," he offers, as if to sweeten the deal.

a bar that has pool tables
Scarlett was several drinks in, and she had a solid high going thanks to the drugs in a baggie in her front jeans pocket. Over the last few hours, she hadn't bought herself a single beverage. She'd won every single one by challenging people to pool. They win, she buys, she wins, they buy. It was simple, and the was her game. She'd been playing pool in bars for a long time. Even now after being out of prison, she wasn't rusty. It was her special talent, and she loved when she could use it to her advantage. When another patron eyed her and the table, she took a swig of her beer and smirked. "Fancy a game? I'll buy your next round if you win," she challenged them.

"Thank goodness," she said. Katie didn't know why she got nervous in front of people in a setting like this, almost everyone was drunk and it didn't matter. In her job, logically she should be more nervous, but she wasn't. But she knew what she was doing there, this was stepping into something she hadn't rehearsed a million times. "Surprise me," she said. "Seriously, you pick. There's words, I'll follow along."
Tumblr media
Abigail smiled when Katie finally agreed to sing with her. "I promise next time we'll go to a normal bar," she said, laughing a little as she looked through the song book. "How about something upbeat like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun? Or we could go for something slower like Purple Rain?"

"It's just your special skill, I guess. Your party trick, so to speak," she joked. Daisy chuckled softly, but shrugged. "I have no idea. I can't think of anything I'm actually that good at, unless you want to play a game where I make you drinks I made for my friends in college and see how long it takes for you to pass out," she said. "Or unless you want to come over and play Hungry Hungry Hippos with my son and me," she added.
Tumblr media
"I don't know why I'm strangely good at bowling," she shrugged, sipping her drink. She did play a few times as a kid but was never great at it. She laughed, "Yeah, fine. I'll let you pick the activity next time. What do you think you'd want to do?"
