She wished for people to see the real person she was, the one that had real joy when fighting and not because it was expected but because her fondest memories were learning how to fight with her dad. She was very quietly sentimental. Not many people knew that. “I didn’t mean to put you on the spot, I apologize.” She paused. “I don’t….actually care. About that. I know and remember the issues my family has had with the fae over me and I don’t…care. They did what they could to protect me then, but I could very much hold my own now.”

“Ah, I’m….actually not sure.” If she was truly being honest, she wasn’t. She didn’t know what didn’t attract men to her. But then again, she did have high standards. Seeing her parents growing up being the ideal and example couple made her search for that exact fit. “It doesn’t feel like I do.” She admitted once Camile’s in her line of sight again. “But you’ve never been wrong before, I have no reason to think you’re lying to me. I like that analogy. Do you think that about me?”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­  her  tone  is  soft,  and  she  speaks with  a  gentleness and  vulnerability  that  seem  so  unlike  the  berry  he’s  grown  familiar with.  it  baffles him  a  bit,  and  makes  him  reconsider the  question  she’s  asking.  reconsider the  meaning  behind it.  he  searches carefully  for  words  that  would  not  insult, “…i’ve  never  had  to  consider it  before  now.  you’ve  put  me  on  the  spot,  miss  berry.  but  yes…yes  I  would  think  of  you  as  something worth  trying  to  outbid  everyone else  for. but  I  also  don’t  think  I’d  be  permitted to  be  part  of  the  auction  at  all. “  he’s  well  aware  of  his  own  reputation. there’s  a  reason he’s  remained  unattached all  these  years.

The red head whirls around, trying not to look like she’d had the shock of her life. “I mean, it’s not that I don’t think I can, it’s more like…I don’t know, I seem to scare men.” Though with good reason, she supposed. Jinyoung had taught her, she was his warrior princess, and she was a very substantial fighter. 

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­  camile  tilts  his head  to  the side  a  bit, as  if  to  attempt  to continue  to  see her  face  after she’s  turned  her back  on  him. with  a  small smile,  he  realizes might’ve  been  a bit  to  forward. they’re  inside  now, and  camile  sets the  painting  down on  the  nearest surface  gently,  “   are  you  to much  for  them, or  are  they not  enough  for you  ??  there’s something  to  be said  about  the way  we  frame things.  you  command a  high  price. not  to  place you  in  the position  of  property again,  it’s  just an  analogy  but …  “  he moves  back  into her  field  of vision,  “  when artwork  is  auctioned off,  it’s  easy to  see  it as  a  bunch of  rich,  selfish individuals  squabbling  to buy  a  trophy. but  in  reality, it’s  a  piece that  is  so highly  desired  and important,  than  people will  crawl  and scramble  over  each other  to  have it.  yes,  marriages  can  be  convenient. but  you  get to  decide  who it’s  convenient  for. you  hold  all the  power.”

“Yes, it’s to throw me to some man for power reasons. I never thought my mother would ever agree to this.” It’s a century old tradition and she knows it, but that doesn’t make it any better. “Hyunwoo is likable, so is Soren. They’re pretty boys that can get any girl to fall for them. And that’s fine. I swear, I don’t think there’s anyone that can match up to me.”

“I don’t know how much I like that we’re surrounded in drama. But I’m used to it, so it’s fine. I’m happy as long as I’m with my family. My family is family, Ethan is family, you’re family.” Leia blinked, surprised. “We’re going out? Isn’t it dangerous though?”

Berry raises an eyebrow, wild red hair tossed over one shoulder with a small eye narrowing. “Hey, I don’t like having to forcibly put on a dress. It seems…..ridiculous, really.” She tilts her head, looks at him directly. “Truly I think I would be more excited to do that. At least you’re not being auctioned off like some prized trophy.”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­   camile’s  brow  quirks, realization  striking  him,  “  ahh.  so  that  is  purpose of  this  party. “  it  makes  sense,  and  he  cannot help  but  feel  sympathetic.  presumably it  was  not  only  for  berry,  but  everyone  else  within  her  group  –  soren,  hyunwoo, eris  too  perhaps ??  he  doesn’t know,  and  he  won’t  ask,  “  i  understand  the  distaste  for  it  then.”

“Ah, my grandfather and grandmother sure keep you on your toes it seems.” Imagine, Berry Park being felled by anything or anyone? And here she was absolutely being felled by this art restorer. “My mother wishes to have some deliveries done before the gathering tonight. And then I’ll have to put on a dress and pretend to care. Surely you know I’m not excited.”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­  he  doesn’t  think  berry  the  gossipy  type,  but  he  still  keeps  his  own  thoughts  regarding the  affair  to  himself.  younger member  or  not,  she  is  still  a  park.  he’s  gotten  used  to  being  at  least  mildly  proper around  them  so  that  he  doesn’t  find  his  studio upturned  out  of  spite,  “  surely  i  did  not  know,  but  it  does  seem  to  be  in  character  for  you.  “  is  his  response,  a  playful  smile  on  his  lips,  “when  you  find  yourself  not  caring  and  bored,  remember that  my  job  for  the  entire  night  is  to  stand  around paintings  and  eventually auction  them  off.  you  get  to  take  part  in  all  the  enjoyable  parts  of  the  affair.  “

“I mean, yeah. But I mean…” He laughs, rubbing the back of his neck shyly. Well, there was one thing about the two of them; they had their focuses. He wants to eventually be a director, she wants to work with fish. “Ey, it’s not that impressive. My dad just always talked about it. Ever since I’ve known you, you’ve liked fish. I have very distinct memories of when we were kids and you always knew things about koi fish. I didn’t think fish were even cool until you started talking about them.” He tilts his head. “What’s that one called? Reef fish are usually good to have together, right? I do listen!”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­   “  the  yellow one?  that’s  a  yellow  tang.  “  she  shakes  her  head,  chuckling still  at  his  insistence  on  being  invested in  her  hobbies. it  wasn’t  something she  ever  asked  or  expected of  him,  “  yeah,  reef  fish  get  along  well  enough  if  there  are  no  predators for  them  to  wrry  about…you don’t  have  to,  y’know?  like  i  get  it,  i  talk  a  lot  about  this  stuff. it’s  interesting  when  you  look  at  it  in  context of  the  whole  marine  biology field,  but  on  it’s  own  it’s  just  boring  and  rambly.”

“And why not? It’s true!” Leia points out, just happy to have her friend in any capacity. She didn’t want to think about having to live her life at all without Namgi. She was so convinced that for awhile she’d have to continue as a very lonely art student again. Having him back was a beautiful gift. “It’s another issue with my dad. It always is. I…hope eventually Ethan and I can have a place to ourselves just to get away from this madness sometimes. You know, if anyone deserves some shred of normalcy, it’s him.” She shrugged. “I’m really excited to spend time with you, though. You’re just in time, I was about to bake the dorm out of existence.”

God, she’s annoyed. All of these things going on have her wanting to just run off. So today she’s in and out with her mother’s orders for herbs and such, and she’d asked her daughter to go talk to Yoobin. Of course as she’s about to walk through, she raises an eyebrow and turns to see Camile. “Let him in. You don’t want me or my father to discipline you for disobedience. Grandfather’s business is not any of your business, is it?” Her tone is clipped to the guards, motioning to Camile. “It’s been awhile, how are you? Come in, please.”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­   “  thank  you.  “  he  avoids  the  guards  gaze  as  he  steps  past  them  and  walks  alongside berry,  “  i’ve  been  well.  very  busy,  though,  you  grandparents  have  always  had  a  knack  for  keeping me  occupied.”  he  motions  to  the  parcel in  his  arms  –  a  delicately  wrapped painting  that’s  taken  him  some  number  of  days  to  restore,  “  this  is  going  to  be  auctioned off  at  the gathering this  evening,  i’ve  been  told.  so  there  was a bit  of  a  rush  to  have  it  done.  and you ?? “

Really, she hadn’t planned on doing anything except just stay in the dorm and read or bake. Stress bake, of course. Of which Ethan would probably gently chide her for making them all violate their probable diets for this new drama they were filming. So when she wakes up that morning and goes to make herself some coffee, she’s pleasantly surprised. “Namgi!” She’s thrilled, all of a sudden, tucking herself into him in a tight hug. The last time they’d seen each other was when Ethan was talking about taking him. “I missed you too. Oh my gosh, it’s so weird going to the library and not seeing you anymore. You’re doing well, though? I know nothing’s too hard for you, you’re awesome.”

“Please don’t think I’m stupid, but I know nothing about fish.” That was what he’d said to the tank guy when he’d bought that huge tank for Sky House. It’s a test, really. If Solbin likes this, then he can really start thinking about the huge tank he wanted to make for her to study her fish. It was…probably, the neatest way to propose. They’d been together four years, and this thing was still a long way off and still a concept and a dream, but for now he’s happy to have gifted the tank for their four year anniversary. And judging by her reaction, he did a good job, which has him with Solbin at a mart in Seoul. “Babe, this is a lot of…like, how do you even know where to start with this sort of thing? I thought I remember you saying that some fish can’t actually live together or they’ll eat each other. I don’t know how you do it.”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­   camile    is    not   surprised    by    the   increase    of    security   around    the    park   estate,    so    much   as    he    is   irritated    by    the   guards    barring    his   entry    into    the   main    house    to   drop    off    a    piece    of   work    for    damon,   “    he’s    expecting   me.  follow  me  in  if  you  like,  i  just  need  to  drop  this  on  his  desk.”  when  a  guard  reaches  out  to  touch  the  item,  agreeing  to  deliver  it  himself,  camile takes  a  step  back.  that  earns  him  no  trust, “  very  delicate  …  “  he  sighs.  and  then  his  attention  is  caught  by  the  fact  that  these  same  guards have  moved  aside  to  let  one  of  the  park  ladies  of  the  house  in.  berry  to  be  exact,  and  camile  calls  out,    “miss berry  –  “  he  said  quickly,  “  would  you  be  so  kind  as  to tell  them  to  let  me  in ??  i  have  something to  deliver  to  your  grandfather.”

[  🙤 · ┈┈┈┈┈┈ ·  ] ⠀ ━━ ­­   “  leia  ~  !!  “  there’s  not  a  huge  height  difference between  himself  and  leia,  but  the  manner in  which  he’s  managed  to  swallow  her  in  a  hug  gives  off  the  image  of  him  being  much  bigger than  her.  it’s  been  a  little  over  a  month  since  he’d  last  had  the  chance to  interact  with  her,  let  alone hold her.    he’s  making up  for  lost  time,“  i  missed  you.  i’ve  been  so  busy.  so,  so,  so  busy  it’s  amazing.  it  makes  me  miss  working at  the  library.“  leia  in  d:fi’s  care  isn’t  typically an  issue,  but  on  the  first  day  of  new  schedules,  it  became  apparent they’d  be  out  of  the  dorm  all  day.  and  so  ethan  had  solicited the  help  of  someone  he  knew  would  go  above  and  beyond to  keep  her  safe.
