So I've decided to make a point. I know hundreds of writers on here have been trying to bring this to the attention of audiences, but it doesn't seem to be getting through. So I'm gonna try. These are the likes, comments, and reblog ratios on some of my fics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't get as many notes as some authors do on here for most of my work, but you can see how out of 447 people that it's underwhelming to receive no comments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even on my more popular fanfictions, the comments and reblogs don't even compare to the amount of likes on a post.
And here is a fact that might startle some of you;
Likes mean nothing. They mean nothing on any social media app, and at the end of the day, they mean even less here. Writers want kudos, comments, ideas, and constructive criticism. Writers want your thoughts on the work you just read. Even if it's just a simple red heart emoji or a keyboard smash, that tells us so much and gives us inspiration to write similar content for you and others to enjoy. Reblogs are even more important than comments and most definitely likes. Reblogs allow our work to reach different sides and circles of tumblr. If it's on your mutuals dash because you reblogged it, then more people will see it, read it, and hopefully enjoy it. Reblogs matter, because writers are pouring their heart, soul, pussys, and dicks into these fics and are brave enough to post them. For free. You get to read these fics for free. And the least you can do is drop a comment.
Reblog a fic to your blog if you loved it. Even better, Reblog with tags or write your comments with the reblog. We see all of it, and it makes our day. Please, you're wondering why writers for your favorite fandoms are dwindling here. It's because there is no support. If you support your favorite writers, artists, gifmakers, etcetera, then we might just stick around and continue making free content for you all.

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.
*Yes, this is a blog post, but it's a blog post filled with links to news articles. If you can click one link, you can click another.

If you're lamenting the fact that you used to be able to shoot through a 500-page novel in like a day when you were in middle school and now you can't, it's worth bearing in mind that a big part of that is because when you were in middle school, your reading comprehension sucked. Yes, mental health and the stresses of adult life can definitely be factors, but it's also the case that reading is typically more effortful as an adult because you've learned to Ponder The Implications. The material isn't just skimming over the surface of your brain anymore, and some of the spoons you used to spend on maximising your daily page count are now spent on actually thinking about what you're reading!

The situation of the Congo Genocide is complicated because we are all implicated in it. We can’t ascribe it to a foreign policy state interest as we can regarding Palestine. It is something we, as consumers, all have a hand in and given the ubiquity of the resources involved, a lot of us are caught off of guard by this premonition of the type of wars to come. This is that nasty intersection of neo-colonialism and hyper capitalism that pits the Global South against the Global North. It’s a war of sustaining a way of life means imposing slavery and genocide on others. This is an instance of global capitalism and hyper consumption as a lifestyle and convenience is being pitted against the humanity of those we deem expendable.

So apparently some people new to Tumblr think a repost and a reblog are the same thing, so when they see creators asking for people to not repost, they're thinking the creators are saying to not reblog 😭
Y'all, a repost is when you copy/download the work and create a new post using the work making it seem as if it's yours. A reblog is you using a site provided feature to share the creator's post directly from the creator so that it's still credited to them and they still get all of the traction/notes from the work.
Please, reblog fics/art/etc. that you enjoy! Reblogging is not reposting! Creatives need support too, and reblogging is a way to do that!

This is the cutest! Very on brand for Pero!
send me a made-up fic title and i'll tell you what i would write to go with it.....
"Kissed by a Rose"
I’m unclear if you’re sending me the title and want me to write something about it or vice versa. Or (much more likely) my brain is playing tricks on me and this is actually more direct than I think it is. 😆
Tumblr media
“Kissed by a Rose” reminds me of husband Pero Tovar and his spouse from my Spring Prompts last month. Likely when the first met or the few first meetings.
Pero is used to dealing in brothels and those who are very offering themselves to him and he likes his fill of many things.
He had to talk his future spouse into a walk among flowers and gave them a poppy flower. He thought the red suited them and they kissed him, making him promise that they’d get a rose the next time.
“As sweet as your lips are amor, I’ll find you the reddest rose I can. Then I’ve earned more kisses from you.”
Pero in fact came back with a dozen of them and collected his kisses slow with some added exploration. 👀🥰 Hehe
I either answered this correctly or was total sidetracked 🤭
Thanks as always @megamindsecretlair ❤️❤️❤️
I’m gonna add @tinytinymenace @avastrasposts @604to647 and @soft-persephone because they are Pero enthusiasts and should weigh in.
Also @morallyinept because I still think of the “Grumble Grumble” giflet from time to time. Yes I remember the name. I pay attention….sometimes. 😗

you wouldn’t last an hour (piecing throwaway lines and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details together to form a coherent characterization for an underdeveloped character) in the asylum they raised me (comic book fandom)

Difference between the Moon Knight series and comics
Warning: violence
You know what’s weird? That they decided to make Jake Lockely more violent than Marc Spector when literally Marc Spector used to carve crescent moons into his enemies’ faces. He also has cut off one of his enemies faces and held his skin over his own face as he looked into a mirror completely unhinged. (Pretty sure it was Bushmans face).
He also stabbed Midnight through the head with a clock hand after Midnight tried to remove his vertebrae with a pair of pliers. Then when Bushman was revived Marc impaled him with a machine gun.
Marc has cut Deadpool into pieces with a blade that made Deadpool have to be surgically stitched back together. He has fought and beat to near death almost all the Avengers then proceeded to steal their powers all in the name of Khonshu. Moon Knight also caught and held Thor’s hammer then used it to kick his own ass.
He cut his own brother’s throat out, Randall Spector after being deceived into thinking he was ‘Khonshu’s chosen one’ it made him feel special so Randall created the persona ‘Shadow Knight’ and went on a killing spree trying to go after his brother, forcing Marc to kill him.
In my opinion the ‘Moon Knight’ series didn’t do Marc justice, now don’t get me wrong I still did enjoy it but…the comics are my babies. I just don’t think they gave Marc enough credit, yet with like a handful of scenes Jake Lockely is the most violent?
Here is one of the comics of the crescent moon carvings:

for fanfic writers and readers
as a black girl who loves a lot of different movies and shows, fanfic allows me to read stories that put me in the middle of my favorite things. however, fanfic often (unintentionally) excludes girls who look like me.
i am so sick and tired of reading a fanfiction and having to rewrite it in my brain because a character description immediately implies that the reader is white. if you don't know what i mean, here are some examples.
"your skin turned pink" or "you blushed": black girls and women with darker skin tones CANNOT blush. our skin does not just turn pink
"pulled your hair into a messy bun": my 4a hair cannot be pulled into a messy bun at random. i may be able to do a ponytail if i have braids in, and i might be able to tie it up if I have an old twist-out, but a "messy bun" is often not possible.
"he ran his hands through your hair": yeah...unless my hair is in a silk press (and an OLD silk press), that's not happening
there are a plethora of other examples that would make this post insanely long, so let me get to the point. there are very easy ways to make fanfic a bit more inclusive; all you have to do is tweak a few character descriptions. OR, put in your pairing or warnings that the reader is implied to be white.
and finally: please, please stop tagging your DARK fanfictions "xblack!reader." i am tired of searching for fluff under the black reader tag and finding non-con, dark themes, etc., ESPECIALLY when the fic ends up being for a white reader💀.
the goal of my page is to create a safe space for black girls who love reading fanfiction. i am only one person, so if you'd like to help, here are some ways to do that!
send me fics (preferably marvel and stranger things to start) that are with a black reader
comment some other things in fanfics that imply that the reader is white or that make the fic a little less accessible
