It's real for us

Hermione was a muggle born witch, who until her Hogwarts letter, knew nothing of the magic world. You know how a lot of people say that if they went to Hogwarts they would be stoked to do all the wizard homework all the time? That WAS Hermione! She looked forward to doing homework about magic. She was so excited about magic that she was able to get a TIME TURNER with permission of the Ministry just so she could take MORE classes. Hermione is my hero because she never lost her fascination with learning about something she was years behind in discovering and had no problem whatsoever in showing everyone how devoted she was to this new world.

She made sure all of her studies were put to use when the need arose, from reminding Ron the proper way to use the levitation spell to take out the troll, to using pure logic to discover which potion would take Harry forward to Voldemort and which to take her back to send for help, researching every book she could to find out how a monster was travelling through the school, going into the past to save lives with the help of Harry which ultimately helped him foster a beautiful though short-lived relationship with his godfather, helping magical creatures she felt were treated like slaves by giving them a chance at earning wages and their freedom if they wanted, fighting along with her friends to not just fight the Deatheaters, but create a society to instruct those willing to become better wizards, helping to discover how Voldemort was able to live for so long after he had been destroyed so many times, and GIVING UP HER EDUCATION AND LIFE AT HOME for the moment in order to rescue the world and, in turn, Hogwarts from a killer set on destroying everything that she loved about her new life. Hermione didn’t just exist in a world she had no idea she was born into, she changed it.

When JK Rowling said that we did go to Hogwarts, that it is real for us, it’s because she gave us Hermione, a character so entranced by the magic world that she everything she could to keep it moving forward, and improving it along the way.
