Is the reason that you give vague answers when people ask you for the meaning behind some of you work (especially poetry), because what people experience and get out of your work is subjective and cannot be wrong (if it is different from what you felt while writing it)? Do you not want to give an ‘absolute’ interpretation, because there is none?

If I'd wanted to explain a poem I would have written something that wasn't a poem capable of different interpretations. If I'd wanted to write something, in poetry, script or prose, that wasn't ambiguous, I would have written something very different that wasn't ambiguous.

Normally, what I wrote was, to the best of my limited ability, exactly what I wanted to write, so I'm always very happy not to answer questions that ask me to elaborate, explain or clarify things that were intended to make people think, wonder, ponder or decide for themselves.
