truly just learn the phrase "I did not like this" instead of trying to give some moral or ethical reasoning behind why it's actually evil and morally wrong and problematic. you are allowed to just not like things because they're not good in your personal opinion, they don't have to be problematic you can just not like them

children bother me for sensory reasons and so do adults. it should NEVER be a reason to complain about and try to exile children from public spaces. children deserve rights and spaces and love and respect just like the rest of us, as do those adults who are socially ostracised. they are a part of the world too.

sensory issues, though not anybody's fault and not controllable, are our responsibilities. when i become overwhelmed with the children in any space, i take some time out – i go to the bathroom, i step outside, maybe i leave early, whatever i need to do. i have earplugs, headphones, ear defenders. sometimes i will have a meltdown or shutdown anyway and that’s just an inevitability of life: that i exist in the world and that the world is full of noise and movement. (to touch on what you said, i am not the main character! the world is bigger than me!) we cannot demand that some people do not share in those spaces because of our issues. the world is for all of us

In the end, if children bother you for sensory reasons and that's why you don't want them to be in the same public spaces as you, there are disabled adults who can and would cause the same sensory issues for you. Adults who are loud, who vocally stim, who have poor boundaries, poor hygiene, who cry in public, etc etc etc. And they're already socially ostracized for all of this.

So actually yeah, it's the bare minimum you can do for the group with the least human rights on the planet to figure out how to accept children as part of your public community without hating them for it, even if you are child-free yourself.

it’s okay if you can’t go from 0 to 100 on chasing your dreams or just a healthier life overnight. it rarely ever happens that way. it’s okay if you need a few days or even weeks to mentally prepare yourself for this change you’re about to make. get up in the morning, do your best, and give yourself room to breathe. 

#for me it's like. taking weeks or even months just to put one new healthy habit in. and that's better than not!

I'm in awe of how we ran historical revisionism on the civil rights movement so bad that people truly believe it was quiet self-sacrifcial non-disruptive christ-like activism that forced progress and not — like — the incredible economic pressure of boycotts and outbreaks of illegal civil disobedience
