Having slipped in rather UNNOTICED towards the end of the night, Ashley found herself a spot upon the floor at the local FAMILY VIDEO with several movies scattered about around her. She wasn’t typically one to make a mess, and had EVERY intention of cleaning up after herself, but since this was a time BEFORE the internet hit the world big, she had to do her research the old fashioned way. The red head muttered to herself softly as she wrote upon a piece of paper and soon enough she had lost track of time, not noticing just how LATE it had gotten. Surely some one would spot her soon enough in their attempt to close up.

Ashley did have a point there. If they stayed in their cabin the whole time, it might seem to the others like they were hiding. “Probably. But we won’t be. I just meant that if things start to get hairy at some point, we’ll go to our cabin and let things cool down for a while, before going back to them.” He said, his hand caressing Ashley’s back to reassure her. Mike didn’t want others to think they were hiding or ashamed of being together. Because he wasn’t ashamed. He really loved Ash and he was ready to show it to the others. Yes, he knew two of his exes were going to be there, but he had never cared about Em or Jess as much as he did care about Ashley. When the cable cart arrived, Mike pecked her forehead, before letting go of her. He opened the door for her. “Mi’lady.” He smiled.

Humming in agreement, there was a HINT of a whine at the end of the noise before she took the offered open doorway and stepped inside the cable car. How many times had she been in this thing over the years? It felt like a MILLION since that first year. And oh how the awe not warn off. To the others it surely had, but every time she STILL felt like she could cry at the views as she ascended into the mountain tops. It was just so BEAUTIFUL and she was just so LUCKY to have been invited. Ashley had been the nerd - the girl no one ever really talked to. 

But then came along Sam. And by extension, Chris and Josh. And then the shy little girl had friends - ones that WANTED her to be there. That wanted her to be a part of their group. Kids would have KILLED to be in her place growing up, and there was a SINKING feeling in the pit of her chest that she may have fucked those friendships over by choosing to be HAPPY with Mike. The red head smiled softly and sat down upon the cold bench before rubbing her hands together and shivering over dramatically. ❝So you’re telling me that at the drop of a hat you’d leave for the cabin if I asked you to?❞ There was a bit of HOPE in her voice and eyebrows rose in anticipation of his response. Ashley knew hiding wasn’t for the BEST if anyone was going to get used to them, but the idea was tempting to say the least.

“See? We’ll be fine. If things start to get out of hand with the rest, we can always walk back to our cozy little cabin and have our own fun.” Mike chuckled, heading to the cable cart. He fished out the key from his pocked and unlocked the door. He pressed the button to call for the cart to come down. “Now we just wait for it.” He said and put down the bags. He turned to Ash and wrapped his arms around her. “Leave the worrying to me, okay? I’ll make sure you have a great time and i won’t let any of them make you feel bad about us.” Mike smiled and pecked her lips softly.

TRUST. It’s something that came freely to the young red head. Overly so in fact, and so perhaps Chris had a point. Perhaps he had a VALID argument when it came to him saying that she was trusting the WRONG man. But that didn’t make him right. For no matter how many times she had been HURT in the past for trusting someone too much or too quickly, Mike was different. Mike had EARNED that trust long ago by standing beside her, and holding her up whenever she needed it most. So yes, she melted into his arms once they wrapped around her and she smiled against his lips once they were pressed against her own. Of course she had to LIFT herself onto her tip toes in order to do so, but once she dropped back down, her head was tucked into his chest and she sighed deeply. ❝Do you think it would make things WORSE if we spent the whole trip in OUR cabin?❞ Idly voiced, Ashley smiled at the thought. Yeah, she would be HIDING, but some fun would still be had. Though admittedly, Mike wasn’t the kind of guy to take the cowards way out, no matter how much he LIKED getting laid, so it was more than likely an idea soon to be shot down.
