Imma drop some WhiteRaven Rockstar Au lore here lol:
Basically Annabel Lee and Lenore are both part of rival bands. Lenore’s band “The Ravenheads” (Duke, Pluto, Eulalie, Berenice) are up-and-coming stars while Annabel Lee’s band “Ghost Bride” (Prospero, Montresor, Will) are considered the face of rock music.
So their bands HATE eachother.
And oh yeah, Lenore and Annabel Lee may or may not have some unresolved history??
I’m thinking childhood friends to lover to enemies to forbidden lovers 🤭🤭
Ask any me any questions about this AU if you like!! (I’m literally making this up as I go)

Maybe everyone that's in Nevermore are there because they got their lives interrupted so that's why they have the chance to live again? Everyone there was young, I believe below 18 at least and most (I'm not certain about Prospero) died somehow suddenly. So idk... I've been thinking about this lately

Yeah no, Pluto definitely did not die from suicide. At least, I don’t think so.
The world of Nevermore is very, very influenced by Edgar Allen Poe. For example, Prospero. In the original Edgar Allen Poe short story “The Masque of Red Death”, he was a prince, which could explain how prim and proper he acts in Nevermore, and he died from the Red Death, which at the beginning of the story is stated to be a plague. I wonder whose spectre is a plague doctor. Also, Fortunato, Duke’s stage name, was a character in the short story The Cask of Amontillado, who dies from being trapped in a wall. Sounds familiar? Anyways, my point is, a lot of names and deaths and details are inspired directly from Edgar Allen Poe.
Now, Pluto. Our beloved British catboy. Coincidentally, the name of a cat from my favorite Edgar Allen Poe story; The Black Cat.
The Black Cat is not one of the cuter stories of Edgar Allen Poe’s works. It starts with a man; he loves animals and finds a wife who loves animals too, and they both adopt a plethora of animals together. One of them in particular takes a liking to the man: a black cat, named Pluto.
The man’s life begins to go downhill when he starts becoming an alcoholic. He begins to abuse his animals just for the perverseness of it, and he becomes a lot more mean-spirited than the person he was before. One day, he comes home, and thinks that Pluto is ignoring him. In his annoyance, he forcibly picks up the cat, causing the cat to bite him slightly on the finger. This small inconvenience causes the man to become so enraged that, in his anger, he takes a knife, and gouges out Pluto’s eye.
Obviously, after this, the cat is positively terrified of the man. He avoids him as much as possible, but after about a week, it seems his eye injury has healed and is doing him no harm.
Then, just for the pleasure that doing the wrong thing gives him, one morning, the man takes it upon himself to finish the deed and hangs the poor car in cold blood.
That’s the end of the relevant section. If you want to know the rest of the story, I would recommend reading it-just search up The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe online and you can easily find it for free.
Anyways, what does this have to do with our beloved Nevermore Pluto?
Well, besides from the obvious similarities that Pluto shares with the Edgar Allen Poe cat, what stood out to me the most was the nature of the man. In episode whatchamacallitimtootiredtofinditrightnow, it is revealed the Pluto’s father is an alcoholic. Not only that, but enraged that Pluto wants to leave home and see the lights, he gouges out his son’s eye. Again, very close to the story. I wonder what the man did next to Pluto in that story?
I suppose it could be implied suicide due to the fact it was awakened in Pluto when he felt relieved, but remember in the story how Pluto’s eye injury had finally healed before the man killed him? It may be a far cry, but I believe that Pluto could have finally thought he was free from his father and that he made it out of his house before his father found him again and hung him. Finally relieved before it is yanked away from him. After all, that’s what he did in the story, and when he experienced the flashback of his death, he didn’t think or feel the thoughts of a relieved suicidal person (as memories of the time seem to slightly return during those flashbacks), but rather panic and fear, which would be odd if it was a suicide that made him feel finally relieved.
Also, he died wanting to go beyond the binds of society and what humanity deems is possible. If he had such a strong dream that he absolutely wanted to make happen, even present while dying, why would he kill himself and destroy his opportunity?
Honestly, I would also find it odd at this point if that wasn’t what happened. After all, the authors have been very accurate to the poems and stories of Edgar Allen Poe for the characters ripped from them. Again, Prospero and Duke, Eulalie has lavender eyes as described in her poem, and Berenice has a very heavy teeth theme like in her story. Not only that, but after following the story of the Black Cat for so long in Pluto’s backstory, I would find it odd if they changed the one thing that both Plutos were killed by if they were so accurate with Duke.
But who knows?
Perhaps I ramble like a madwoman.

I love how the more we discover about Lenore and Annabel's relationship when they both were alive, the more we realize it's exactly the same shit as of now that they are dead. Literally the way their story unfold in Nevermore Academy is practically exactly the same as when they were alive, except they switched role, because now Annabel is the despaired one who gave their literal life and identity away for Lenore, who won't ever return the favor because she has too much to lose.
You know what that means? You know it right?
We already know how this story ended. They both died. And they're repeating the same patern now that they're dead.
I could tell you about the parallel with toxic relationships and the circle of violence and the paterns that repeat but that's not the point right?
What we really want to know is how they're going to break that pattern.
And the answer is: they have to change. If they don't then their story will be a dead end and they'll have no choice but to part ways, definitely.
They have to identify this patern and change, to effectively break it.

If you ever think your thoughts can't get meaner remember that just like Annabel's spectre ability 'Kiss of Death' is the name of an actual chess strategy because Annabel liked chess, Pluto's ability 'Blink' probably comes from the fact that he had to hide and move extremely fast and discretely to avoid getting targeted by his abusive father when he was alive.

Do you ever think about how the first time Pluto truly felt alive was in death? Do you ever think about how he's spent his whole life just trying to survive and it's only now that he's dead that he can experience what living feels like? Do you ever think about it? Do you?

Theory about Annabel’s Death, hear me out it makes sense if you think about it.
I personally never believed Lenore was the one who killed Annabel. It never made logical sense to me, I can’t even see how it’d be an accident. “But, she was killed by the one she loved most” you may say. But that may not even be true, the Deans told her she was killed by the one who loved HER most of all. This could just be the Deans twisting the truth, but it does make sense, because there is one person who loved her most of all besides Lenore: Ira Whitlock, Annabel’s father. You’re probably thinking: “But he’d never do that.” Correct. He’d never do that on PURPOSE. I think it was an accident and the bullet was intended for Lenore. We know he approved of ‘Leo’ when he proposed marriage to Annabel, but over time he may have noticed things. Take this scene:
Tumblr media
Here, Ira is watching the lovers take a walk, but he doesn’t look all that happy. He looks like he’s thinking about something, looking suspiciously at ‘Leo’. I think Ira somehow found out ‘Leo’ was a woman and tried to tell Annabel, but Annabel (being who she is) simply wouldn’t hear it. So when the wedding day came, Ira resolved to shoot ‘Leo’ to ‘save’ his daughter. But when he took the shot, Annabel jumped in front of Lenore and took the bullet to the heart. This made Lenore so angry she drew her gun on Ira, but in her haste missed the shot, which gave Ira the opportunity to shoot her in the head, killing her instantly.

currently writing something but im noticing im getting stuck when trying to write a scene with two characters kissing/making out? do you have any advice on that?
hi anon!! Love that you’re writing 💛 make out scenes are some of my favourite to write. Def no expert, but here’s some thoughts I had about them!
-> build up (pre-kiss)
I love a good tension/anticipation before the kiss happens. Maybe it’s forbidden, or they’re pining but don’t wanna admit their feelings, or they’ve just returned from being separated for so long they’re dying to reconnect. Work out the dynamics of your couple, and the context of the kiss - it’ll set the pace and tone for the kiss itself, and words that you’d use to describe it.
-> actual kiss
kisses comprise of so many things - lips, mouths, tongue, (sometimes awkwardly teeth), but there’s also understated things which I think are worth exploring, for example:
breathing and sounds (do they pull away panting? Do they steal each other’s breaths? Do their gasps sync up?). I also think the inner thoughts of a character during a kiss - expressing doubts or even a confirmation of how much they want the other person - can make a kiss scene so much richer!
I love describing hands moving while the kiss is happening - from desperate groping or tender face cradling, all this can add emotional intimacy to a kiss.
Eye contact also makes kissing intimate - maybe there’s a teary, glassy quality in one of their gazes, because they’re being offered comfort in the kiss? maybe it’s fury and hatred mingled with desire because it’s a hate fuck, and they’re kissing the other to prove they don’t have feelings… when they clearly do.
Environment / setting can also elevate a kiss’ description. Maybe it’s a snowy day and she’s frozen to death, and he kisses her nose while pulling his jacket over her and doing up all the ties to keep her warm. Or maybe he shows up on her doorstep, rain-soaked and lonely and missing her and she immediately steps into his arms and gets all drenched too.
-> post-kiss (what now?)
Does the kiss lead anywhere? I don’t just mean sex, but it could be identifying what the kiss does to change your characters’ relationship or feelings with each other. Does it complicate the situation or does it put to rest some of the tensions that exist in the scenario itself?
I really find what helps is to also read more widely to explore what kind of scenes you personally enjoy (that’ll help inform your writing too!).
sometimes I watch kissing scenes when I’m stuck - that helps me write too! the nick/jess kiss from new girl is a personal favourite.
sometimes I trawl through Reddit’s romancebooks subreddit to look at their thirsty thursday recs- sometimes that helps with inspo too!
sending you lots of writerly inspo and luck! ✨💛
here’s another thing I did if you wanted to explore writing threesomes!

How to write a kiss scene
Tumblr media
requested by: anon request: How do I write a good kiss scene? As how do I describe it? What details or words would make it good?
What goes into the writing of a kiss scene?
details to incorporate:
the sensations in their stomach, their chest, and their knees
the way their breathing changes shortly before the kiss
the feeling of the other's hands
the texture of the other's clothing
the moment they realise they've reached the point of no return
the feeling they're left with after the kiss
words to use...
... to describe the kiss:
tentative
tender
hesitant
quick
soft
gentle
delicate
languid
feathery
familiar
exploring
hungry
heated
fiery
frantic
impatient
sloppy
messy
aggressive
... to describe how they feel about the kiss:
nervous
excited
giddy
anxious
apprehensive
ambiguous
surprised
reassured
certain
confident
relieved
eager
greedy
... to show what the lips do:
exploring each other
brushing over each other
locking
devouring
touching
sealing
pressing against each other
capturing
lapping
tasting
crushing together
travelling (the other's body)
trailing (down to the other's chin)
grinning into the kiss
caressing
lingering
... to show how their body reacts:
feeling warm all over
buzzing
humming
pumping/palpitating heart
clenching lungs
joy bubbling up
tingly stomach
warm chest
burning cheeks
sweaty palms
blood rushing through their veins
... to describe what their hands are doing:
tangling in their lover's hair
wrapping their arms around their lover's neck
intertwining their fingers with their lover
resting on their lover's hips
pressing into their lover's shoulder blades
cupping their lover's cheeks
touching their lover's chin
curling their arm around their lover's waist
resting on their lover's shoulders
grabbing their lover's collar
sneaking up under their lover's shirt
brushing over their lover's bare skin
lightly squeezing their lover's butt
focus on:
the sensations instead of what's physically happening. (the protagonists might very well not know themselves what is happening exactly, but they feel very precisely)
I hope this helps <3

Okay nevermore fandom buckle up, time for my personal theory about lenores spectre
Okay so i’m pretty sure a lot of you are familiar with the theory that the nevermore heart logo is a combination of Lenore’s and annabelle’s spectres
Tumblr media
Now the heart part is safe to assume comes from Annabelle’s Lady in white form, specially the heart shape hole in her chest , which leads me to believe that lenore’s spectre will have wings
Another thing that makes me believe that is this specific scene with the raven on the rooftop
Tumblr media
Now, my personal guess is that lenore’s spectre is a (classical depiction) Siren.
Tumblr media
Before the mermaid version of them became popular people depicted them as winged women or any form of woman bird hybrid so it would compliment the logo theory. but get this
According to Homer, sirens were known to lure people into their deaths, so in a way they would kill them. We know that in their lifetime Lenore and Annabelle were about to be wed but we also know that Annabelle was murdered by the person she loved the most (possibly shot, which is why i believe lenore has a handgun in her personal belongings).. all of this implies that during their lives (well the end of them) Lenore killed annabelle
HMN.

theory time: what unites all the students at nevermore academy?
tw: death, violence, blood, all the bad & sad stuff.
Tumblr media
considering that nevermore academy is a kind of purgatory, there has to be a reason why it holds such a small number of people. in this realm must be plenty of places where different people, united by one characteristic, end up after death. this was also confirmed by the authors.
for a long time now I've been following the theory that all the characters of "nevermore" are united by the way they died. namely, they all were murdered.
almost from the very beginning of the story we were aware that annabel lee was murdered. the same thing was stated in the latest chapters too.
Tumblr media
ada was clearly also brutally murdered by the nobleman she loved. the poor girl's body was probably never found. I'm afraid no one really looked for it though.
Tumblr media
recently we also learned that duke didn’t just drown. his magical performance was sabotaged by a person unknown to us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the cause of pluto's death was not specified in detail, but I'm inclined to believe that he was strangled by his tyrant father (and my baby felt a huge relief, I'm crying).
Tumblr media
berenice was hit by a car, but I'm pretty convinced that it counts (?), because she was running away from a bad person. especially if we take into account the story of the poe's character with the same name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh, and I almost forgot about montresor, although there have been a lot (too much) of him lately. well, he was thrown under a train. not much to add.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the only people who stand out from the general pattern so far are prospero and eulalie. eulalie died in a fire. the exact cause of prospero's death is unknown to us, but with a high probability it was caused by some kind of disease, presumably the plague. however, I wouldn't rush to write these two off. the fire could have been the result of arson. not necessarily for the sake of killing poor eulalie. but in any case it's a deliberately arranged action. remember, in the eyes of the public, duke's death also seemed like an accident.
and the final chord of prospero’s life could have been, for example, not the disease itself, but a medical “mistake” during the surgery or something like that.
phew, feels really nice to finally have a platform to share some thoughts! and what do y'all think? it'd be interesting to read your theories.
