American Airlines today operates the largest fleet of any airline. This is a mixed Boeing and Airbus narrowbody fleet and an all Boeing widebody fleet. Since the pandemic hit, it has been noticeably simplified. Looking back over its history, though, it has a much more mixed fleet. This includes Boeing and Airbus as well as several others – McDonnel Douglas, British Aerospace, Fokker, and Embraer.

There are many examples of jets in VIP or private ownership. Often these go unnoticed as they pass through airports in plain liveries. Some users, though, like to advertise their presence – and many music groups have done this over the years. The Rolling Stones took their turn with Boeing 737-400 aircraft in 2014 and 2015.

The World’s Heaviest Plane: The Story Of The An-225
The Antonov An-225 is the heaviest and longest operational aircraft today. It was built during the 1980s to serve a specific purpose within the USSR space program, but has gone on to serve a niche role carrying the World’s heaviest Plane of payloads. Already over 30 years old, it has just finished a further refurbishment, and we are likely to see it carrying out special missions for more than another decade.
