Gen 3. Aurora #25 Morgyn's Next Journey
On the way to his new jewelry and crystal shop, Morgyn ran into this cat outside.
She kept following him, so ... he adopted her right away.
He named her Luna.
The cat is originally Shiva by EA ID pugowned on the gallery.
Morgyn was almost ready to open his shop.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
On opening day outside his shop, Morgyn decided to test out his Plumbob jet ring. Nothing happened... oh well.
He went inside to open the shop for business.
By the way, Morgyn wouldn't let Briar Rose come to the shop. "Too many weirdos out there, maybe wait till you're an adult," he'd say. She'd already given up on going to the beach by now.
Morgyn was pleased with the number of customers that showed up.
As he was making his sales pitches, a fearsome guest arrived.
Guess the ring worked after all!
Morgyn bribed the Grim reaper with a gift to make him go away (it was a Hopper MySims trophy, if anyone's curious).
Back to business, it looked this young man was going to buy a ring.
Eeek, thank you game! I didn't/couldn't make this happen on my own, but it works perfectly.
Morgyn was about to make another sale when Father Winter came in. Oh right. It was Winterfest in the human world. He might as well ask for a present.

Gen 3. Aurora #24 The Curse of the Sweater
The next day, Briar Rose was back at the treehouse, a little earlier because it was so cold. She even resorted to her mother's knitwear at L.'s bidding.
That was when Philip came by to listen to her singing. He was a bit off that day, a little bit dirty, and something seemed to be freaking him out.
Having completed her teen aspiration of Passionseeker, she decided to focus on her love life.
These two teen aspirations are by SimmerJohn and updated by ilkavelle. High School Sweetheart requires 5 gold dates and the exchange of promise rings, and given only 1 week left and how difficult it was with Ella to get gold dates, I'm not confident Briar Rose will attain it.
Unfortunately, Phillip seemed to be having moment. Was this sweater cursed? Briar Rose regretted her outfit choice that day; maybe he was terrified of her hideous sweater.
"What's the matter Phillip?? It's me! Briar Rose!"
Phillip calmed down somewhat, but... they only got a silver date. It was just not going to happen that day.
"Listen, I've got to go. I'll ... see you next time, maybe?!"
Poor Briar Rose already got this milestone at this point, even with Phlilip all stinky & crazy!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"I HATE this sweater! Why did you make me wear it today??"
"How dare you be ungrateful toward your mother! She sacrificed so much for you!"
"Wha- what do you mean?! What happened to my mother? Why would she sacrifice herself for me?"
After Briar Rose ran away sobbing, Simeon was about to cast Ivy Wrap on L. but he stopped himself just in time... he was trying to reach "Good Fairy" alignment.
Morgyn was a bit more diplomatic and just scolded L. instead.
Actually, I don't think it was really the sweater since it wasn't given to or by a significant other, but I had no idea what was wrong with Phillip that day. Let's just go with the game's chaos.

Gen 3. Aurora #23 The First Snow
"There was a boy in the forest!"
"What boy?! Make sure you don't talk to him. He might be a creep. You should just keep to yourself."
"Umm.. I didn't talk to him!"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
She went back the next evening to check on Maisie, and hoped...
It looked like Phillip had the same thought.
They passed the evening chitchatting.
"Look, the first snow!"
"I'll see you tomorrow?"

Gen 3. Aurora #22 The Meeting
While exploring the forest, Briar Rose stumbled upon a well and made a wish.
The cowplant had blossomed so she stopped by to feed Maisie.
She wrote about her dreams of meeting someone.
She took shelter in the treehouse when it started to pour.
Phillip, a teen boy who was visiting Glimmerbrook with his royal family, didn't mind the rain at all. He was exploring the forest when he found Maisie.
Briar Rose had never seen someone in the forest before. Intrigued, she went to introduce herself. She figured Maisie could eat him if he turned out to be a bad guy.
Phillip was besotted.
Actually, Briar Rose felt rather like she had been struck by lightning as well.
Glimmerbrook weather is so hard to deal with, dark screenshots :(

Gen 3. Aurora #21 Making Gains
Morgyn was on a roll.
He was bringing in enough money to buy a storefront. He just needed a little bit more, maybe around $2500.
"Morgyn, can I have this gnome? It's so cute."
"It'll make you Brave, so ... you can have it."
L. was getting ready for afternoon tea.
"What on earth...?"
"It's just Briar Rose... she's dancing because Morgyn gave her the gnome."
"Woohoooo!"
Morgyn went back to his room to draw more power from his crystal.... Looks like he'd have to craft just a few more items and he needed the focus.
*~*~*~*~*~*~
He quite liked the design, so he made two similar rings with his Jet crystals. Selling one would be just enough to get him his lease on the storefront. He decided to keep the other ring for his own for testing, when Briar Rose wasn't around.
There was indeed something to be thankful for this fall, but Briar Rose was wishing for more ... she wanted friends her own age. She was now a full-fledged Teen.

Gen 3. Aurora #20 The Charm
Briar Rose learned to cook from L, the resident foodie.
"Simeon said what?!"
"Yeah, he said we could go to the beach and look for mermaids one day soon!"
"Are you crazy? Why would you promise such a thing?!"
"Look--we just need to avoid needles. Why would there be needles at the beach??"
"Just... don't do it. Make up excuses. We can't run into her family or Gabriella anywhere with Briar Rose."
Dressed for the day, Aurora was ready for more singing and dancing, maybe some forest exploration, or maybe even...
"So... can we go to the beach today? You promised!"
"Uh.. umm... not today, Briar Rose. I've got to fix the toilet."
Indeed, Simeon wasn't lying. Everything was breaking around the house these days, and Simeon became the resident repairman since he was taking a break.
Briar Rose didn't mind... she was mastering her dancing with these new lightsticks Simeon had given her for her birthday.
I've pretty much always ignored the dance cardboards because they're such an eyesore... didn't realize you could do all these specific moves on them. I've never seen these lightsticks before.
"Sorry this is late, Briar Rose... I was trying to perfect it!"
"It's gorgeous!! I love it!"
"Make sure you always charge it before you wear it!"
"Why?"
"It'll protect you from harm."

Gen 3. Aurora #19 Fireworks in the Forest
I just wanted to put this screenshot here because I'd never seen a rainbow in-game after the rains. This is the Nero Guest Castle, where Ella and Henry had their honeymoon, and new residents would be moving in quite soon!
These fairies had to remember to hide their Fairy Form whenever they came home. All of the retired Sages seemed to get more lackadaisical about minimizing their magic use at this point... which made no sense as Briar Rose was entering adolescence. But they hadn't seen Gabi for years at this point, and that odd encounter seemed a lifetime ago.
Thankfully, Briar Rose was mostly oblivious, as she could always be found singing or dancing...
It was now summer, and they wanted to celebrate National Spirit Day for once.
These two were still not getting along that well. As always, Briar Rose tried to smooth out their relationship.
Briar Rose loved the cozy atmosphere and didn't want the summer bliss to end.
That night, Morgyn finally completed his belated gift for Briar Rose.

Gen 3. Aurora #18 Phoenix Fire and Fairy Power
After changing into more age-appropriate clothes, Briar Rose calmed down and rejoined everyone for the meal.
These occult recipes by @tianasimstreehouse are so fun :) I wasn't expecting side effects!
"Briar Rose, Morgyn and I will be heading out on a trip to just decompress a bit and get more materials..."
"Wait, really? Can I go with you? I'm always stuck here..."
"Sorry, not this time, but one day we'll take you somewhere fun. Maybe the beach?"
"Really?? You mean it? I always wanted to see the beach. Maybe we'll find some mermaids!"
"Yeah, of course! We'll go hunting for mermaids."
"Simeon, you are my favorite."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Simeon and Morgyn made the trip out to the Forgotten Grotto that L. had discovered.
Being surrounded by crystals helped to replenish Morgyn's powers.
Buoyed by Briar Rose's words, Simeon had figured out his new aspiration, and was casting positive spells to make Morgyn stronger.
They practiced more sparring.
Before heading home, they decided to visit the Sylvan Glade.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Meanwhile, Briar Rose was back home practicing her singing.
It was really hard, though, because she kept spewing fire while recovering from the effects of the Phoenix Pie.

Gen 3. Aurora #17 The Gift
"Happy birthday to our Briar Rose!”
"I love this cake, L.!"
"We have a special present that your mother gave to us when you were born. She made it just for you. Here, go try it on…”
Briar Rose couldn't believe this. Maybe she didn't have anything in common with her mother after all... but as her parents had died long ago, she would never find out. She tried her best to appreciate the gift.
After a childhood of play, Briar Rose was kind of lazy when it came to chores... but without hours of school, she had time to really hone all her skills (except the social skill, since she only ever interacted with her 3 guardians.).
Now she really wanted to focus on mastering singing and dancing.

Gen 3. Aurora #16 These Last Childhood Days
Briar Rose's birthday was fast approaching now.
Sometimes she felt forlorn, especially after she'd had a dream about beaches, castles and princesses, but when she asked her guardians about her real family, they wouldn't given an inch.
Sometimes she played Simblr with the adults, but when it got to be too much people-ing, she would play outside or go to the forest to play on the mysterious ship she found there one day.
By now, Briar Rose had completed the 4 childhood aspirations that made sense for her personality and isolation.
She also continued journaling a lot. Simeon also was taking time now for himself.
He got back to his roots and gardened quite a bit around the house.
He helped Morgyn with his aspiration by cultivating a Magnificant Crystal Tree.
Speaking of Morgyn, he had been doing well enough making gemstones and jewelry and selling on plopsy.
By now he was thinking about purchasing a storefront because he missed interacting with the public as an Outgoing Sim. He needed something more.

Gen 3. Aurora #15 Simeon's Woes
Another morning, another day to slave at work, another day to deal with L.'s annoying presence.
Briar Rose spent many-a-day trying to fix the relationship between Simeon and L.
It seemed like the only thing that kept Simeon going was Briar Rose's antics. The reason he hadn't been around was because he was always at the Simsonian Institute for work.
Unfortunately, he had to keep working to reach level 3 of the archaeology career for his Jack of All Trades aspiration.
He got a promotion, but earned Brain Block at the same time.
"I'm going to do it...."
"Get yourself together, Simeon. Do what you gotta do..."
He did it.
Quite honestly, this game mechanic from Growing Together would be really annoying usually, but it worked out perfectly for Simeon who wants to be Jack of All Trades and had get to level 3 of 3 careers.
Briar Rose was a bit oblivious, as she just worked on her typing skills.
At dinner that night, Morgyn asked L. to lay off teasing Simeon a bit... but she was busy studying fairy magic.

Gen 3. Aurora #14 The Award Ceremony
That evening, L. went back to Tartosa for the Starlight Accolades.
TBH I almost forgot about this with all the fire stress.
Ella was also in attendance, and was dying for any updates about Aurora.
L. couldn't help it. She had to tease Ella a bit.
Ella heard about the fire and freaked out a bit...
But L. calmed her down a bit with updates about how well Briar Rose was growing up and all her achievements. Ella smiled wistfully, relieved...
This is my first time ever getting a Starlight Accolade in the game!
"Thank you, thank you... I owe it all to my little muse back home."
"Congratulations, L. You're amazing! This is for you."
"Thank you, Briar Rose."
“You’re welcome! You know you’re my favorite, right?”
L. hung up the drawings Briar Rose had given her on the wall, placed the feather Briar Rose had found in the forest on her nightstand, and admired her new trophy. She was satisfied.
I couldn't help but feel sad for Ella when I saw her at the ceremony :(

Gen 3. Aurora #13 Fire & Frost
At some point, Morgyn had developed this fear so when the fire broke out...
I can't remember when he got this fear. There must have been a kitchen fire I didn't bother to screenshot.
He ran away first.
By the time he came back with the extinguisher, the fire was huge.
L. gave it a go as well, but ...
She caught on fire.
I was sweating that my main Sims would die...
Morgyn tried again... but this fire was too strong.
Finally, Simeon tried to put out the fire, which saved L.'s life, but...
This fire just kept spreading!!
Morgyn couldn't take it anymore. He used his Frost Affix spell just as Briar Rose had come to see what was happening.
***Mutters spell***
She ran away again....
In the end the only thing that worked against this magical fire was the frost spell.
As Briar Rose helped clean the mess, Morgyn fretted about whether she had seen his spellcasting. He regretted setting the table on fire in an attempt to overcome his fear. Considering L. had almost died, he would take this secret to his grave. 🤭

Gen 3. Aurora #12 L.'s Adventures
L. had come to the Sylvan Glade to learn more magic from the Ethereal Guardian.
She decided to draw on the Power of Darkness for more power to combat Maleficent if she needed to.
She tested out her sparring abilities on one of the fairies.
With all her mischief and voodoo, L. became aligned with Evil once she drew from the Power of Darkness (though she really meant well for Aurora...!).
This mod is so cool and detailed. @sp-creates fairies vs witches mod
Before heading back to Glimmerbrook, L. decided to look for more metals for her alchemy potions in the desert.
She came upon this barely hidden passage.
I almost forgot that she had to be Handiness level 10, but thankfully, she could just fly through this as sprite!
She fished...
Played with frogs...
And dug for metals.
Upon her return, she told Morgyn about her newfound powers, and Morgyn couldn't help but be concerned.
"It's fine, Morgyn, don't be so uptight. You guys need to be practicing your dueling skills in case Maleficent ever comes back.
By the way... I found a cache of crystals and metals. You and Simeon ought to check out the Forgotten Grotto one of these days."
These two thought L. had a good point... now with Aurora spending so much time in the forest, they took the opportunity to spar a bit.
No matter how much she practiced, L. made miniscule progress on her alchemy skills (not sure if it's bugged, at least the learning alchemy potions and aspiration part).

Gen 3. Aurora #11 You're My Favorite
As the snow started to melt, Briar Rose grew a bit tired of her indoor toys.
Morgyn played a bit of soccer with her, but soon she had a great idea.
"Remember that half-built treehouse in the forest? What if we finish building it?!"
"Oh, you're right! I'd forgotten all about it. Let's do it."
"Morgyn, you are my favorite!"
As they worked on the treehouse, L. came by to tell Briar Rose that she would be leaving for a short trip and would be back the next day for the Starlight Accolades ceremony.
Briar Rose didn't mind... she had a brand new treehouse to play with!
She felt quite at home in the forest, even though it didn't have any bathrooms.
It also had a perpetual pot of mac and cheese. She didn't question where it came from... it was just always there. Briar Rose was still constantly furrowing her eyebrow (I had no idea why since her emotion was fine); perhaps she was subconsciously missing her real parents.
Briar Rose found a table to sit for journaling, to let out all those subconscious misgivings. There was even a little baby cowplant nearby. She wondered what it would look like when it grew up. She quickly finished the Creative Genius aspiration in the forest.
Here's the forest:
It was quite the magical place for Aurora (and her guardians) to take care of their adventure and aspirations needs.
Rock Corner by EA ID gatochweg, with lots of modifications by the Sages during their time at the cottage. (I'm too lazy to place down all those trees...) It's a National Park so no townies ever visit... perfect for Aurora!

Gen 3. Aurora #10 Winter Blooms
Morgyn and Simeon's crystal tree was finally blooming. Morgyn drew his powers from Crystals.
Simeon drew his powers from Nature, so both were reaping the benefits of this tree.
Briar Rose was just loving the snowy days.
The unlikely family spent their winter days just like any other household,
even celebrating the New Year with a countdown.
Around this time, Briar Rose completed her Mind and Body Aspiration.
Unfortunately, just as Simeon had started climbing the Career ladder in archaeology, he started to get mental fog. Even the jewelry Morgan had given him to combat burnout didn't seem to help.
What would the spring have in store for Briar Rose and her guardian fairies?

Gen 3. Aurora #9 The Barely-Kept Secret
Briar Rose wasn't allowed to leave the cottage except to the surrounding forest.
She didn't notice that the adults never got older... as fairies, they aged a lot slower. They also ate different foods, like these Pumpkin Pasties (@tianasimstreehouse Occult recipes).
They still had to exercise to stay fit though.
At this point, L. wanted to become a Master Alchemist, but she was lacking all the ingredients.
She headed back to Magic Realm to gather ingredients, and ran into Gabriella, or rather Maleficient, who inquired about Aurora's whereabouts.
After a frustrating encounter playing dumb, L. tried to bind a new voodoo doll to Maleficient, but she was too strong to be bound. L. took her frustration out on Morgyn instead...
Exploring the realms, she gathered a few magical ingredients.
L. returned home to work on her alchemy skills, but she really needed to figure out a way to counter Maleficient. She needed more power.
She didn't really hide the alchemy from Briar Rose - in fact, she got her an alchemy set to play with to show her that it was just chemistry.
@syboubou Enchanted Dreams
Briar Rose loved hearing the Fairytales from the book that the 3 adults were always reading.
She lived quite the easy, carefree life.
And she didn't notice the oddities that the adults displayed from time to time when they forgot to hide their magic.
