Box Opening photos for my SartorialJ Elf Joshua. This guy is beautiful! His face is gorgeous and I adore his pronounced elf ears. And of course had to go with the grey resin. I went with the larger of the two 1/4th scale bodies, the 52.5cm Zeus Body. I’m really impressed with the elegance of the jointing, the shoulder and elbow is especially nice. However, I was disappointed to find no mobility joint and thought I’d made a mistake in ordering. But no, only the smaller body (51.8cm Athletic) comes with thigh mobility joints for some reason? 🤔 He also didn’t come with eyes. The gorgeous blue eyes shown in the promo images have to be ordered separately and I kick myself not realizing this before because now they’re sold out. Doh!🤦🏻‍♀️ Since he was a limited doll, I took advantage of their 6 months layaway so I wouldn’t miss him. Then it took about 3 months from there for him to come home. His certificate says March 22, 2003 he arrived on March 31st. Speedy! (Which I find impressive seeing how I have three dolls now trapped in New York customs) Overall I’m very impressed with this doll, SartorialJ gets an A+ from me! The resin is heavy and sturdy, it feels well refined and good quality. There’s no seams or sanding marks. The sculpting and engineering is very nice. It’s been almost two years since I did any knitting so it took my a few days to get back up to speed. Knitted this swatch to practice stranded color work again. The ribbing confused me the most, took me the longest to figure out how to keep all the strands on the backside. And I really kick myself not writing down the method of knitting my doll sweaters. Spent a lot of time messing with gauges. Felt like reinventing the wheel all over again. My sweet babies! We’ve been through so much with them the last couple weeks. Arwyn developed a bad episode of Gastroenteritis, she was vomiting and vomiting. A week later after Bloodwork, radiographs, hospitalization, fluids and meds she’s finally doing better. I’ll take more x-rays later this week to make sure she’s not having any complications like aspiration pneumonia. And then poor Lola. She’s been battling a worsening skin infection on her head and neck area. Wouldn’t respond to any antibiotics. Finally I performed a biopsy and culture. And it’s an antibiotic resistant Staph infection called MRSP. Essentially she has doggy MRSA. Because of course she does. And guess who shouldn’t be around an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection right now. Me. 🤪 So no kissing, hugging, cuddling my Lola. Treatment-wise since the infection is resistant to antibiotics, topical treatment with antiseptics is the only resort. So she’s getting daily bathing with Chlorhexidine shampoo for weeks and weeks, months even. Husband is saddled with that since I can’t touch her. She is improving but this won’t be over anytime soon. My mom took care of the laundry, basically all the dog beds and blankets needed to be washed, that was a big job just on its own too. A few months ago I sewed a bunch of different pants in different sizes but when my Levon came in none of them fit him. However, I knew some of them were missing, the ones that I’d sewn to fit my Fashion DollShe Khan body. Then chemo wiped me out for a week and I couldn’t look for them. And I really wanted to try those one before I made some for him. So I finally found them! And yes they do fit really well! ☺️ The boots are by Raccoon Doll and fit perfectly too. Today was my last day with most of my hair. I really was hoping to earl least make it through the rest of my work week first. Oye. And did you know you could flunk out of chemotherapy? Because apparently I’ve managed it. At least for this week. My WBCs are too low, so I wasn’t able to get my scheduled infusion. They’ll check again next week. So I went to work! Managed an entire half day. And will try working tomorrow and the next day too. It was actually nice to go back and feel useful again. Otherwise not doing too bad right now. Energy level is better and sleeping a lot better now too. That first week was pure hell though, I was beyond miserable. Had a relentless migraine for 4 days and zero appetite for the first week. I wasn’t vomiting but I sure didn’t want to eat anything. I think the most shocking part though, was the amount of pain I was in. That first week was just brutal, but things did start to improve after that. Now I’m just dealing with the mouth ulcers mostly. Which really suck. And hurt, especially when I try to eat something. What a happy and unexpected surprise! My Magic Mirror Levon arrived yesterday, I ordered him just a little longer than a year ago. I was at the hospital all day yesterday so missed his delivery. I watched the video on our Ring door bell of the mail man march up with this obviously doll shaped box…then turn around and take it back to the mail truck and drive away again lol. Nuuuu! But I got him today. ☺️ He’s lovely, the resin color is a lovely blue tinged grey and his faceup compliments it very nicely. He fits a lot of things I’ve made for other dolls too so that’s awesome. I think he makes a good match for my Minigenue girls. Survived my first Chemotherapy infusion session yesterday. We started at 1pm. Things were going good the first part with the Doxorubicin, which legit does look like Fruit Punch Kool-Aid. Happy Valentines Day! But yeah I was talking with my husband and the nurses came by to look at the doll clothes I’d brought to work on. I was like wow this is easy. Chemotherapy? No problem! But then then it was time for the big infusion with the Cytoxan and here I started to feel pretty bad right away. Starting getting a headache and couldn’t concentrate anymore. Eventually my whole body flushed terribly and I literally started stripping off clothes feeling like I was having the worst hot flash of my entire life. Guess this is a reaction so they turned it off and just ran saline for 20 minutes until I felt a bit better then started the Cytoxan up again but at a slower rate with more saline to help dilute it. And it did help but that horrible fever feel was with me ever since. It is poison after all 🤷🏻‍♀️ But yeah got home at 5PM, was able to eat a little bit, but I badly needed to lay down, so went to bed at 6PM. That awful hot fever feeling was constant and kept me from sleeping even though I was exhausted and it’s all I wanted to do. I got up every hour or two to tank up on fluids. Finally about 3am I was able to sleep. This morning I’ve managed to get a little breakfast in me. And drinking all the Gatorade. I have a headache and intestinal cramping but it’s pretty normal that I would anyways so it’s hard to interpret? They told me to just do all the normal things I would do to manage my conditions as I know myself best, but gave me certain thresholds to contact them over. I have two things I need to leave the house to do today including picking up my paycheck from work which is only a five min drive. But the post office has a package and that’s further. Now trying to decide to go now in case I feel worse later or go later because maybe I’ll feel better later? I’m a cancer patient now but also a chronic illness patient, and one of the things I’d been dealing with with was chronic recurrent tonsillitis. It’s been especially bad after I got Covid last June. I barely go a couple weeks without having another infection. Sore throat, nasal congestion, coughing, laryngitis. And it lit up my PET Scan yesterday like a Christmas tree in my neck and in my chest as well as my spleen. Which did make things a bit complicated to interpret in light of looking for metastatic cancer. But the consensus among the radiologists and the oncologist is that this does not represent metastatic cancer. And the risk of not starting chemotherapy on schedule outweighed risk of going ahead even without knowing 100%. Plus I admit I did balk at the thought of getting biopsies of lung lymph nodes. So we’ll be driving to the chemotherapy infusion center shortly this morning to start my first treatment. I’ve got some current sewing projects packed up to work on while I sit there. Was fussing about wanting to bring a doll to try on while sewing but decided against it. Maybe I’ll be too tired to even work on anything any ways. I’ve had such poor sleep the last week anyways with the stuffed up nose and coughing. And I’m told the anti-nausea meds in my IV will make me even sleepier. But I also feel I’m a professional sick person already and hate not having something for my hands, ha!😂🤷🏻‍♀️ But that’s the current state of things.
