I worked with toddlers and pre schoolers for three years. Sometimes I accidentally slip and tell a friend to say bye to an inanimate object (“say bye bus!”) & occasionally they unthinkingly just do it.

I am a woman first and foremost. I feel best and most comfortable when I am a woman passing and just one of the girls. I am not ashamed I am trans and I will talk about being trans with anyone that is respectful about my being trans but I will not apologize for being a woman first and just trying to pass and live my life as a woman. I am trans but my identity is as a woman not as a trans person. To those that identify as a trans person go on live your best life you have my support and I will fight for your existence just like I fight for mine.

Is it so hard to believe that when I talk about the positive benefits I'm experiencing from my transition, I'm talking about myself and not making sweeping statements about other people? I literally don't care whether other people pass or not, the only thing I don't tolerate is people being bigoted or acting like everyone should feel the same way about their bodies as they do. There were people telling me I was erasing my trans identity by trying to pass. I refuted that. That does not mean I think passing is required for everyone. Fucks sake

You know that study that found when doing a blind taste test the majority of people prefer pepsi over coca cola so coke changed their recipe to taste more like pepsi, and people actually liked the new coke a lot less because the people who were buying coke didn't want it to taste like pepsi they wanted their coke to taste like coke. when people say they oppose gender affirming surgeries because people might realize that they "were wrong about their gender" I honestly wonder what they would think if they knew me

I was a trans man for many years. I got top surgery. I later became a lesbian. I have absolutely no regrets about any of it.

I was talking about all of this with my mom today and she said "even if you did regret it now and want the surgery reversed, I remember how things were, and I honestly don't think you would be here today if you couldn't access top surgery." (I will add that typically less than 1% of people detransition, and those who do rarely harbour ill will towards the trans community) (also many gender affirming surgeries can be reversed, though again, very few people pursue that)

and that's what it comes down to. for so many people, gender affirming care is a matter of life and death. if you oppose gender affirming care, you oppose the trans community, and you endorse the suicide rate among unsupported trans youth.

it's an issue of bodily autonomy, of the right to decide what we do with our bodies, and of valuing our lives enough to respect said decisions.
