        sure, kaworu might be the one with a paying job that keeps a roof over their heads and food on the table, but he still feels like his young roommate is doing a bit too much. there’s no need for shinji to work so tirelessly.

Still rolling the remover zealously over Kaworu’s forehead, Shinji chews his lip.  So Kaworu hasn’t been growing out a unibrow.  “Why?  Don’t you have a cat already?  I have my own.  They don’t like being replaced, I am telling you.”  He dusts off the shemhazai’s shoulders.  NERV U makes some nice uniforms.  All Shinji ever got was a white button-up, undershirt, and slacks.  Kaworu should try to appreciate his things more.

        “i do. but it’s not like i’m adopting them. it’s only until they’re old enough to find homes. which... should be soon.” kaworu waves away the roller, scrunching up his nose. but he grins out of the corner of his mouth. “i think he just wants any excuse to be angry with me.”

        at least his relationship with the cranky feline has... sort of grown better. “do you want to meet the litter? so they can have someone else to drool on for a bit.”

Shinji has the solution. He gets out his trusty lint remover, and gets removing. "What happened to you?" he asks casually, as if he's not doing something as supremely weird as rubbing sticky paper into Caworu's face.

        he suddenly takes note of the fact there’s a lint roller on his face. kaworu blinks, furrows his brow, stares at pochi long and hard. “... i’m taking care of an abandoned litter. it’s a lot of work.”

A frown sets deep in the Rogue’s countenance.  Lilin have bizarre sayings, but they are hardly that bizarre.  “No, you must be mistaken.  Horses are not known for their health.  They are frequently made into glue and shot when their legs are bad.”

These mirrors!  They act all-knowing when they know not one bit of the culture they claim to admire.  Tabris will set them straight.

With the utmost nonchalance, Tabris slings an arm over the Watcher’s shoulder.  “I can teach you many things about these people,” murmurs he.  “We can begin with a lunch date.  You seem to need knowledge if you believe that one’s mistrust in me is a sign to trust that one.”

        his first instinct is to shake off the arm around his shoulders, but he finds it within himself to refrain. though his molars do grind together in mild annoyance. fine, kaworu will go along with this. for now. but rest-assured should this rogue try anything just the least bit funny then the shemhazai will have no hesitation with summoning his eva.

        “a lunch date? all right. but since you’re offering, i’m expecting you to be paying.” like hell is kaworu going to use his own hard-earned money from his job at the local music shop to pay for this mirror’s food. and as much as he makes him inwardly seethe, he does well to keep himself ( mostly ) composed outwardly.

        the rogue is not someone to underestimate. he is no joke.

        “you can tell me as many stories as you like.”

Very belated surprise welcome back gift art for @shugousha.  I hope this finds you well!

I tried to match your description of Tama as closely as I could.  I liked the way you drew his hair and tried to replicate it, but I also wanted to use Caworu’s oficial model sheets as a guideline so I had to compromise.  I hope the scars came out okay???  I was going to put the leaf in his hand, but it would have crowded out the core and make that area look cluttered so now it just looks like he’s gesturing towards his core.  This is why you should plan your drawings better, kids!
