A lot of demigods have "weird" things that happened as children which they can't explain until they realize their heritage. Kayla doesn't have a big event like strangling a snake with her bare hands, but she HAS always had a special connection with crows. As a kid, she'd often play with the crows in her yard, and much to her mortal dad's dismay, she's sometimes offer up whatever shiny things they had to the crows - coins, necklaces, she's even "lost" a few pieces of cutlery. One time, Darren caught her on their porch eating dinner, with several crows casually resting on or around her.
