And... he was on the run again. Or rather, flight. He just wanted to fly to the next city, but it didn't quite work in his favour; a couple trainers flying by on their Pokemon had noticed him and they were now giving chase. The thunderbird dove deeply towards the rocky area below them, hoping the tight spirals would throw them off. He had to escape... he couldn't let himself get caught.

Nearing the ground, he pulled up from the dive, changing into his human form as he landed. He glanced around, glowing feathers cascading around him.

Oh.

There was a human right in front of him, relaxing with his team. 

"H-hey, mind if I, uh, pass through here? Haha..." Smooth.

It was sundown already. Volkner was exhausted as he closed his gym for the night, and headed somewhere away from home. He removed his jacket allowing the last of the sun beams warm his cool skin. What a nice night it was, no one was really out. His feet led him on a familiar path toward the outskirts of the city. There he would relax for a while, quietly unwinding with his Pokemon after a long day of battling. Raichu was always by his side, and then Luxray. The two were like his children. They all had just settled to watch the sun set, when Luxray’s ears perked to a sound he obviously couldn’t hear. Nonetheless it left him curious.

"Well, alrighty then. But ya do know ya can talk to me if ya do need someone, 'kay? I mean, I'm almost always available." The thunder bird gave her a reassuring smile.

That caught her off guard.  The smile immediately disappeared, and she stared at him with slightly wide eyes.  Darkrai was the only one that knew, but only because he was forced to bear witness to it.  It scarred the King of Nightmares, what would it do to Zapdos?  She wanted to tell someone, but she shook her head instead.  It wasn’t worth putting the poor legendary’s life on the line over.

"It…may be better for your safety that you don’t know, Z-Zapdos."

"Well, if ya are comfortable, ya can tell me what's wrong now."
