oops. wasn’t ignoring you. the uchiha massacre was a situation doomed to fail. Hiruzen didnt even punish Danzo when he tried to get Kakashi to murder him. the situation was handled wrong by all parties included. and it was honestly too much for two teenage boys.

what Itachi and Shisui should have done was rally up with other shinobis. they should’ve gotten allies. had people listen to build their case then sat Hiruzen and the council and the Uchiha elders down to work out something.

but then again a lot of things were handled horribly in the show so there’s always fanfiction

Oh man this got away with me and we didn’t get any Kakashi/Naruto actual content but I did set up an entirely new AU that’s similar to some of my others but with a few twists.

For this scenario I think maybe it should all be Shisui and Itachi’s fault.  Although Itachi maintains he only had a … very small hand in the entire debacle.

See since the coup never happens the village is way more stable. And, thanks to that, Shisui and Itachi both eventually end up transferring out of ANBU.

Itachi becomes an elite Jounin and takes up his training as future Clan Head.  There’s also rumors, much to Itachi’s despair, that he’s being considered for Hokage since the Sandaime is getting seriously old and Kakashi is notoriously uninterested.

Shisui, cause he’s a solid 6 on the Uchiha How Much Of A Dick Are You? Scale eventually decides that he needs a protege, someone to pass on his Will of First Of All Fuck You to, so he goes “huh let’s get some kids” and turns up all “yo, i want babies” at the prospective Jounin-sensei meeting.

Sarutobi, much to most people’s horror, agrees.

So Shisui ends up getting the most annoying, adorable, impossibly perfect team ever.

Shinsui who is fed up with both clan and village takes one look at this cackling orange boy and goes 'you know what would make your pranks even better? ...Speed.' (And now no-one can catch Naruto other than Shinsui who is too busy being smug to bother)

That’s exactly what I’m talking about.

Like Naruto is, in canon, really really good at stealth/escape.  Cause I mean the fact that he was able to hide from so many shinobi pre-graduation after a prank is legit impressive.  I’ve always chalked Iruka’s ability to find/catch him up to the fact that Iruka probably knows Naruto better than anyone besides Sarutobi at that point.

So like, a No-Massacre AU where Naruto makes an endless game of just fucking with the entire Uchiha Police Force because “fuck y’all, that’s why” and Shisui ends up catching wind of that is like “oh shit that’s a fishcake after my own heart” and just drops in on Naruto all “only thing better than the ability to hide is being so godsdamn fast your stealth skills don’t matter, now may I introduce you to both the body flicker jutsu and the entire idea of the Fourth’s Hiraishin?”

And poor touch/affection/attention starved and training obsessed Naruto is like “yes, yes you can pretty boy/lady/man/individual (because you’ll never convince me Naruto has an entirely solid grasp of the concept of gender)” and then he proceeds to just fucking overpower the body flicker so fucking bad that he’s just blinking from place to place even if his aim and control need some work.

Naruto is immediately like “i’mma gonna be the fastest fucker alive and also change the entire goddamn world”

Shisui is delighted.

Itachi is intrigued and ends up testing Naruto’s chakra affinity by just like dropping in on him one day all ominously and then is like, “hmmmm maybe he’d like this entire bundles of scrolls on this subject” because he might be a pacifist but he’s also an Uchiha which automatically rates him as a 7 on the 1-10 How Much Of A Dick Am I? Scale from birth and honestly fuck so much about the shinobi system.

And then Kakashi pulls himself out of his emotional dumpster fire long enough to be like “oh no I tripped and fell and just so happened to leave my entire collection of scrolls about Sealing as well as these tri-pronged kunai in Naruto’s apartment how unfortunate”.

A new age of terror is born both on and off of the battlefield.

And that doesn’t even count the sheer horror everyone feels when the two end up courting.

It is a match made in heaven for the two of them and a match made in hell for the rest of Konoha.
