Angry Part 4
Gordon being angry. I found him by far the trickiest to write! ----------------------------------------------- They hurtled through the building toward the errant lifesign.
“What's this idiot doing?” Alan mumbled under his breath as they ran. The order to evacuate had been given almost an hour ago. International Rescue had arrived to see flames already engulfing almost half of the massive complex of buildings.  They had immediately set to work to free a group of workers trapped by fire and debris, and discovered that the fire couldn’t be put out. Manganese had caused the initial explosion and now it burned with a ferocity unrivalled to what they had seen before. Toxic gases blew on the wind; several more explosions had rocked the buildings where the manganese had been stored.
The flames hadn't yet reached this part of the facility, but it was only a matter of time.
There had been no one in this sector when they had arrived. John had noted the blip only a few minutes ago, which meant someone from outside had come back in. They had ignored it when John first called it in; after all they weren’t in immediate danger like the trapped workers, but as soon as a path had been cleared Scott had ordered Alan and Gordon to go round up whoever it was before they became a more difficult rescue than they had already dealt with.
The thing was the lifesign was at the back of the complex - which was adjacent to the sea.  It would be so easy to get cut off, and the long, very shallow shoreline meant an approach using Thunderbird 4 was out of the question.
They crashed through a heavy door causing it to echo around what turned out to be a very large hanger.
“Oh you’ve got to be shitting me,” Gordon growled.
“What?” Alan craned his neck around his brother to try to see if he could spot the person they were there to rescue, but all he could see was two very large and ugly looking machines.
“Deep sea miners. They tear up the ocean bed to collect… damn that’s why there’s manganese in a supposed shallow water tin mining operation!”
“Well they’re going to be out of operation pretty soon.  Us too if we don’t hurry up.”
“Right.”  Gordon set his jaw and homed in on the lifesign tracker on his helmet HUD.
They found a man at the controls of a large computer system, typing commands and seemingly oblivious to the danger he was in.  He’d at least had the sense to wear a mask to avoid the toxic smoke.
“Hey!  You can’t be here!” Gordon all but shouted as he skidded to a halt next to the man. “This place could catch any moment!”
“Well go stop it. Isn’t it your job to put out fires?”
“It’s our job to rescue people.  And you know why we can’t put out that fire in time, don’t you?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Yeah right.  Then why are you in here so desperately trying to save a couple of cheap tin miners?  Oh yeah.  Because these are specialist deep sea machines; much more expensive to rebuild to specs that will withstand those pressures.”
“No one wanted you here.”
“Someone did.  We were called, remember?”
“Well not by me, and the workers aren’t supposed to have phones on them in the facility.”
Gordon froze.
Alan gaped, he was pretty sure he’d never seen Gordon speechless before  When it became clear his older brother wasn’t actually going to continue talking Alan took over:
“Those people would have died if we hadn’t come-”
“Less expensive to replace than these machines. So if you’re not going to help me with this… There!  That’s a good route.  Now I just need to copy it over to the other machine and set them going, and I’ll need a recall function…” he’d obviously started to talk to himself, ignoring the two IR operatives.
“I’ll do it.”  Gordon’s voice was level, emotionless.
Alan frowned at him.  It was… strange… and kinda unsettling how cold his brother suddenly looked.  Eyes hardened, posture straight.  Military through and through.
“You’ll do what?” the man looked up in confusion.
“Our job is to get you out safely.  If you won’t do that without these machines being programmed to escape to sea… Well, I’ll stay behind and finish the program. My suit will hold up to the toxicity and the heat better than your clothes will.  Besides, I’m wearing the best aquatic equipment available, I can always make a break for the sea if the fire blows over and I can’t get back landside.”
Alan shuddered.  It was as if everything that made Gordon Gordon had been stowed away somewhere.  There was none of the emotion that should have been there; just those efficient, mechanical, logical words.
“Gordon? But these machines-”
An explosion echoed across the room; it sounded closer than the ones before.
“Take him to safety Alan. I’ve got this.”  And he smiled. “I’ll program these machines to get out. Heck, I’ll transmit the feed to you so he can be sure I put the program in correctly.” Alan hoped never to see that smile again.  The cold look in his eyes…
“Yeah… yeah. Please Sir, come with me…”
“Do you know what you’re doing?” the man seemed reluctant… but then Gordon smiled that smile at him.
“Of course, Sir.  We work with machinery and code all the time.”
The man looked as though he didn’t know if he should be leaving now because he could trust what Gordon had said, or because if he didn’t leave now Gordon might just decide to kill him on the spot. “Right,” he glanced at Alan. “Okay. Lead the way. And tell me what he’s programming in. I’ll know if the code is right.”
“Go now.” Gordon said, in a tone that Alan had only ever heard Scott use when giving orders, and turned to the consoles. Alan found himself dragging a much more compliant man out of the building, and was relieved to find their route hadn’t yet been cut off.
It seemed far too long before Gordon made it back to Thunderbird 2.  The cold emotionless man he had become had apparently been left in the hanger as he bounced up the ramp.
“All people accounted for, buildings are clear,” he all but sang and gave Alan a big grin and a thumbs up.  A few seconds later a massive explosion rocked the hanger that they had been in.
“What?!  No!” The man they had dragged out started tapping on a watch tablet and when he couldn’t get a signal he rounded on Gordon.
“You said you could get them out!”
“I did.  And I finished your program, just like I said I would; you can see the video log, if you like.”
“What the hell was that then?!”
“I noticed some explosive charges and thought I better move them out of the path of the fire.” He let his whole posture droop in an almost cartoonish manner. “But I’m afraid I was tired and I accidentally dropped them on the miner’s batteries on the way out. It was very clumsy of me.”
“I’ll report this!  You’ll pay for destroying my equipment!”
“You’re going to report your illegal mining operation?” Gordon laughed. “Be my guest.”
“As far as anyone knows these are tin miners that you blew up on purpose.”
Gordon gave a dramatic sigh.
“You’re going to report that I blew up a couple of tin miners, which, any moment now, are going to be eaten up by the manganese fire that’s spreading that way?”
The man looked defeated for a moment and then growled.
“You don’t know who you’re messing with.”
Suddenly the coldness was back.
“Do you?”
It was at that moment that Virgil and Scott strode over, smoke smeared and looking as angry as Gordon.  The man backed up until his legs hit a jump seat.  Gordon shoved him in the chest so he sat down heavily and pulled the restrains down, securing them and then locking it in place.
With a final glare they secured Two and took off to deposit the majority of the passengers at the hospital, and one at the police station.
----------------------------------------- I have a cold at the moment and my head is very muzzy, so I hope I've not missed any spelling/grammar stuff and it makes sense. I wanted all the bros to have a slightly different angry story. :)

Welcome back!
Being Back Feels Amazing
Hi All,
So I know it's been at least 2 years (maybe longer 😬) since I've been on here and I've recently come back to it. There's been a lot in my life, more positives than negatives which has been great 🥰. My boyfriend and I are buying our first house together and I'm now doing a job I love which gives me more free time. More free time to write Thunderbird fics (and other fandoms), and whilst I'm not ready to show any of them, not going to lie even my boyfriend has never read any of them, it feels great to be back with the Thunderfam and back writing.
My love to you all for being amazing, give yourselves an extra hug from me.
Scarlette

I saw that there was something called “Kapril” going around, where you draw Kayo in April. I decided to participate because I used to draw TAG characters all the time! 😭 I can’t believe it’s been eight years… if you had told me then that I would still be drawing TAG characters in 8 years… 🫠
I haven’t drawn her in sooo long 🙃

Angry Part 3
Virgil's turn! --------------------------------------
There were some things that the average person was just not likely to accomplish in their lifetime.  Gordon stood among the few that had won an Olympic Gold medal, for instance.  The man standing on the dockside ranting at Virgil was managing to do something that even Gordon had achieved only on very rare occasions. He was making Virgil Tracy lose his temper.
Gordon had considered intervening, and certainly if it had been Scott getting angry he'd have probably already done something about it, but, instead, he had found himself silently watching in curious fascination; like he couldn't quite believe it was happening.
The thing was the man didn't know that Virgil was angry, because when Virgil got angry, like really angry, he'd stop talking. He'd been trying to reason with the man, who had interrupted, insulted and yelled over his polite attempts at being heard.
But now he'd moved onto threats.
Virgil's eyes had hardened; Gordon swore they'd turned a shade darker, and the orange dockside lights reflected like spots of fire within. His jaw had tensed, he'd crossed his arms and simply stared down at the man, who was foolishly taking his silence to mean that he was winning the argument.
Without warning Virgil moved. His arm shot out, he bodily lifted the man by the front of his coat, marched to the water and dropped him in.
The man gave a startled yell, and Gordon shot over to the side to make sure he wasn't drowning.
But even in anger the response had been calculated. Sure it wasn't exactly safe to throw someone onto the sea at night, but the weather was warm, the water was calm, (though cold) and there was a ladder right next to where the man had been deposited. (And technically two highly trained rescue operatives were also right there, even if one was probably less inclined to pull him out at the moment.)
The man had come up gasping with the cold and immediately swum for the ladder.
“I'm going back to Two.” Virgil had watched to make sure the man had got ahold of the first rung before he'd stalked off, leaving a highly amused Gordon to watch the man pull himself up onto the dockside.
“You okay, there?” he asked, trying and failing to keep the laughter out of his voice.
“Fuck off,” the man grumbled and spat on the concrete.
“Will do,” Gordon cheerfully replied. “But you still have to close down operations for the next forty eight hours, regardless. it's not safe-”
“You think you have any authority here?”
“The Commander of International Rescue-”
“Not you, though, is it? Thinking you're all important here. Not the gorilla either, ain't going to take orders from big and stupid,” he growled.
Gordon felt the edges of his temper starting to fray.  Which wasn't surprising really, the guy had gotten Virgil to crack, and that was one step further than even managing to get John riled up, which was near impossible most days. But then Gordon grinned. Maybe that was the point, this man didn't know how difficult it was.
“You want to talk to our Commander?”
“Yeah, you heard me.”
“Really?”
“What, you think your Commander is too important to come down here?”
“Oh no, no. It's just… you just made the most patient member of our team so angry he dropped you into the sea. The guy that normally keeps the peace. And now you want to talk to the least patient-”  he cut himself off at the sound of footsteps approaching.
“What's going on here?” Scott spoke with the full authority of Command, taking in the sodden man dragging himself to his feet and the aquanaut casually watching him from a distance rather than doing anything to help.
“He doesn't want to shut down operations, Sir.”
Scott shot Gordon a puzzled look at the “Sir” but didn't say anything. Gordon knew Scott wasn't going to undermine his own authority in front of a stranger by starting a “what are you up to Gordon?” conversation.
Instead he walked over to the man, folded his arms and stared down at him.
“What do you mean you're not shutting down operations?”  His voice was level and firm.
Scott didn't know it, but he was exactly mimicking Virgil's tone and stance in the few minutes before the guy got dunked.
“Uh…” finally the man seemed to get it. Scott may not have been as broad as Virgil, but he was tall and the dockmaster had to crane his head back to meet his gaze. “I just wanted to know on whose authority…” he started meekly.  He glanced over his shoulder at the dark water and gave a shiver, then looked back at the Commander of International Rescue who was patiently waiting with sparks of reflected fire in his eyes. “Forty eight hours?”
“That should give us enough time to secure everything,” Scott confirmed.
“Well then. Not a moment later.” He tried to sound authoritative but it came out somewhat flat. He gave a nod and walked off towards the offices.
Gordon sniggered. The man had assumed Scott was about to lose his temper, when actually he'd been perfectly calm. It's just Scott being in control looked so very much like Virgil losing it.
“Seems like the swim did him good,” Scott smiled as soon as the man was out of earshot.
“Virgil calmed down yet?”
“Still seething. Don't annoy him on the way back, or it's likely he'll drop you off in Four and make you swim home.”
Gordon laughed again. “Don't worry. I know when to actually leave the bear alone.”
------------------------------------ I hope what I'm trying to get at with how Virgil deals with his temper comes across here! (I'll not say what I was thinking because hopefully the story does make sense?!) I've actually managed to write 90% of Alan's story this week so I nearly have all 5 bros done. :) Still not sure on Gordon's story but ah, it is what it is.

Ask game: unpopular opinion edition
Asked by @katiedido2:
"Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think?"
Well, none of the Tracy boys can be considered ugly, but if I had to choose one, I guess John would be my least favorite. But I do enjoy the tight spacesuit ^_^
Now, excuse me, I need to go hide from the John fangirls *dives into bunker*

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favourite character? >:)
Hmm, I wouldn't say this is getting them "wrong" since everyone can have a different vision of a character, but I don't think Scott's mental health is as bad as some fics make it out to be.
Not saying he's a model of mental stability, we all know that's not true *cough*Recharge*cough*, but if Scott had such crippling PTSD or a death wish or something like that, no way would he be able to perform rescues or run IR.
In kids media you sometimes have to simplify a lot of the story for the audiance to understand, and a character mental state is often something that gets ignored. I get the fun of exploring a character's psyche and their personal struggles, I don't want to tell anyone what they can and can't write, but I just want Scott to be able to be a functional human being once in a while. Give the guy a break! ^_^

Oh, nice! Always there for some Virgil x Cass ^_^
Let's not forget Cass' squad would certainly be as happy as Virgil that someone is hurting their captain. A whole bunch of angry firefighters plus one or more Thunderbirds are about to hunt the Hood down, possibly planning to drag his ass behind a fire truck in retaliation.
Tag Fic Idea free to use
Cass McCready gets targeted by the Hood, because of Virgil and her companionship. Virgil isn't happy to say the least.

I’m so thankful for new Thunderbirds fans. I fell out of interest around 2019 because there just wasn’t much fan content around it- Even Ao3 had fewer than 100 pages of stories on it. I was so excited to have a reboot of a show that meant so much to me when I was younger, but felt like I had no one to share it with.
Only 4 years later and TAG on Ao3 is closer to 300 pages. You come onto Tumblr every day and there’s something new to see. There are more amvs on YouTube to watch. More discussions, more content, more arguments and AUs and ideas.
People care about it now, and it feels amazing for TAG to finally have the community that it deserves.
