I seldom look at costumes design in films and television, beyond appreciating the craft and what it says about the character who wears them.

But Alicia Vikander in Irma Vep is exactly how I want to dress, when I'm less broke. It's cute, wearable, smart casual but not anodine, straddle both men and women's fashion. Very similar to Esther Kwek.

Can we talk about Mira covered up completely in a catsuit made to feel exposed and vulnerable by the verbal commands of a casually slouched and effortlessly ("effortlessly") sensuous Laurie in her leisure upon a throne of a couch thronged by her shopping bags in a demonstration of her freedom from Mira's hold on her as an employer?

Can we talk about how the movie star cedes all her power and will to her former assistant and capitulates to every command against her better judgment but clearly in submission to her desires to obey, that the embarassment (perhaps even humiliation) of it is part of the thrill, the aphrodisiac?

Can we talk about Laurie wielding her hold with just a touch of cruelty, enough to hurt deliberately but not so much as to lose Mira on the hook, testing the limits of what will goad but not repel, pulling the line taut and slackening in a teasing orchestration?
