they were contemplating on what to do . and harper honestly wasn’t sure what her and rapunzel should do . finally , the other spoke up and the barrel racer shifted her gaze towards her . “ no , you’re right . i mean what’s the worst that could happen ? “ she chuckled . risk taking was something harper only ever did in the arena . barrel racing wasn’t the safest horseback riding sport and honestly , she loved the thrill of it . she pushed herself from the wall , straightening her jacket . “ yeah , let’s go . we’ll be back before anyone realizes it . “
green eyes grow bright as harper told her that she was right, and she stopped herself from saying that she knew that. she couldn’t, however, stop herself from squealing with delight, and rapunzel clapped her hands as she squealed. “exactly! it’s going to be so much fun, and it’ll make for a great story when we’re old and cranky and sitting in those rickety rocking chairs,” she nodded, evidently already planning it out. “it’ll be like we never even left.”

with the promise of tomorrow // breathing is in everything. it's in the mountains and the stars and the ocean and the sea, it's in the way you run your hand through their hair, it's in the way there is more to see and do, tomorrow. more today. there is breath in your lungs because there is so much to see and you won't stop breathing until you're done, and you'll never be done. you breathe with the promise of tomorrow, with the next time and space, the next moment you'll get to live. oh, you are so alive. what's out there? what's next? your breath comes easily. you want more air than you will ever be able to breathe, but you will wring out every breath there is to get from this world.

katherine listened to rara’s words and couldn’t help but smile because she correctly assessed her. she could totally imagine her blond friend doing the things she had talked about. “sounds cozy”, katherine retorted because it sounds almost relaxing. movies and cookies and hot cocoa are way better than the stress and fuzz most people have to endure during the holidays. “are there also gingerbread houses?” she questioned because she always wondered about these.
“i’m probably visiting some parties. people are usually dressed a lot better during christmas and it’s the perfect excuse to wear sparkling glitter dresses” apart from that, katherine doesn’t have any connection to christmas.
“it is cozy! i’m hoping that we make it into a completely cozy christmas. with all of that stuff and just, us wearing pajamas for the entire time. i know it sounds kind’ve dorky but i think it’d be a lot of fun,” she mused with a small laugh. she was just excited to see her family, most of all. “oh, yeah. when we were younger we used to have contests, of who could make the best one. but we always won in a tie. we haven’t made them from scratch in years but we still decorate them for fun. i could bring you back one, if you want.”
eyebrows rose when katherine told her of her own holiday plans, and her lips curled into a smile. “i’m sure that you’ll find a few holiday parties going on. lots of places have them,” she nodded. “do you have any idea what you’re wearing yet?”

erin’s gaze moved between rapunzel’s face and the sky, attempting to understand the appeal. a good of the city she could get behind, there had never been anything quite like the sun setting behind chicago, but staring at the stars? she supposed it was because light pollution had meant that she couldn’t really see them in her city. perhaps it was the rarity of seeing them that was supposed to make it all the more special. “stars are stars, people are people.” she commented, rocking back and forth on her feels for a moment before finally pulling her eyes from the sky. “what are your big plans? what’s in the stars for you, do you think?”
rapunzel’s eyes found the faintly star-lit sky once more, and her head tilted as she admired the faintly twinkling lights. it amazed her that even in the biggest of cities, even if the stars couldn’t be seen, that they were still there. hidden behind the star-like lights of the city, but they were always there. always constant. it’s what she loved about them. “and unlike the stars, people are able to change,” she mused. that’s what she loved about people, she thought. green eyes moved from the sky to erin, and she smiled. “being queen. i’d like to travel, too, but that’s the only thing set in stone.”

if there was one thing that would get annie in a good mood, it was a big old plate of something topped in enough sugar to get her going ‘til lunch time. todays food of choice was waffles, and she could practically taste the whipped cream and copious amounts of maple syrup already. ❝ right? there’s no way we won’t be able to get waffles. they might not be good waffles, but they’ll be enough. ❞ sometimes satisfying the craving was enough, even if it wasn’t the greatest of plates. but she was positive that they’d not only be able to find a breakfast joint, but a good one at that. ❝ oh for sure, this time of night is the best. or is it morning? does it count as morning if we haven’t been to sleep yet? ❞ she shook her head, the pang of hanger too much of a distraction for her. ❝ the city does all sorts of weird stuff when they think everyone is sleeping. but we’rer not! ❞
“even if they aren’t the best waffles in the world, we can always treat ourselves to better waffles later on. i mean, we need something to fuel our brains in the mean time,” she laughed. and besides, the maple syrup would be helpful -- that’s where most of the taste comes from anyway, unless they end up deciding to have some fruit on the side. but maybe that’ll be a game time decision, if any fruit is actually available. “there needs to be a word for it, if there isn’t one already. like, not quite evening, but also not quite morning at the same time. like some sort of combination of the two.... eorning? mevening?” neither of those sounded right, but she figured the word would have to be made up in the end anyway. it didn’t have to sound right. “i guess we picked a good night not to be able to sleep. we’ll actually experience all that weird stuff.”

light laugh is given in response to her remark, nodding as though he knew exactly what she meant. “ yes, absolutely. it becomes quite the irritation at times, doesn’t it ? ” head tilts slightly as he listens, gaze moving back to survey the room. “ it looks as though it would be a nice place to grow up in. though perhaps not so much to stay in. feels a little – claustrophobic. ” he leans in as he speaks the last word as though telling her some secret. “ me ? neither ! i’m just passing through really. stopping over here for a short time. ”
“oh, totally. it’s like, you’re lucky if you’re actually able to keep something to yourself.” and, to her, she means being a witch. although there are a few select people in town who know of that secret, but still. so long as it isn’t town gossip, she calls it a success. “i guess that’s the thing with smaller towns. they’re great, and safe, but there’s not a lot that you can really do, you know? i guess it’s just the pros and cons,” she adds with a small shrug of her shoulders. rapunzel’s eyebrows rise, and she smiles. “oh yeah? where are you coming from? have you passed through some fun places?”

he takes back every single thing he’s ever said or thought about rapunzel carter being soft. this girl is nothing but infuriating and stubborn and part of him thinks that she has no goddamn clue what she’s doing — but even she’s not that naive. a low rumble leaves him and comes out sounding closer to a growl than anything else. fuck the moon. and fuck her for that matter. tyler stares at her for a moment too long, teeth gritting together, tongue running over his teeth. she smells like fucking summer and sunshine and all things good and he knows without question that laying one finger on her would ruin her. without giving her another chance to open her smart mouth, tyler dips his weight ever so slightly, arm curling around the backs of her thighs as he hoists her up and over his shoulder. the trek back to the car is short, and whether it’s her dimunitive height or the adrenaline coursing through him — she’s almost impossibly light. throwing open the back seat of the car, tyler all but tosses her into the back seat, one hand shackling around her ankle to pull her forward as he leans in closer. ❝ do not test me, ❞ he repeats.
green eyes lightly narrow in their brief silence, brow furrowing in response to the low grumble that sounds from him. normally she’d make some sort of quip about it but, right now, she feels she has to prove herself in her stance. to out-stubborn him in silence. as tyler leans in rapunzel opens her mouth to say something, though the words escape her entirely as he picks her up and all but tosses her over his shoulder. rapunzel lets out a shriek, hands gripping at the back of his shirt as though that’s enough to keep her from falling off of him. as though blurred with her shriek she screams out his name, as though that’s enough to put her down. when he eventually does -- in the back seat of his car -- rapunzel’s arm rests on the back of the passenger seat, one leg bent at the knee as she looks up at him. “what the hell was that?! ugh, why are you being such an ass?”

glove clad hold icicle in one hand and in the other, a knife sharpening tool. after seeing a sharp shard of ice hanging over the roof of rapunzel’s home, he broke it off and kept it in his possession. he begins defining the edges and sharpening the end as the young witch questions why on earth he knows this. “i mean, look at how sharp this is already.” eyes focus on the homemade weapon, he scrapes off some more ice then holds it up for rapunzel to see. “you could totally kill someone with this baby.” a smile that mimics that of a proud elementary student holding up a piece of artwork they created during arts & crafts.
rapunzel blinks as she watches silas begin to sharpen the edge of the icicle. “-- -- do you seriously just walk around with that in your back pocket?” either that or it’s just pure coincidence that he had it in his possession, and honestly, she can’t decide which one it was. “it’s ice, silas. ice gets sharp sometimes but it all melts eventually. i don’t think you can really murder someone with ice, it’ll break on impact,” she adds. not that she’s thought about it before now.

he is highly aware of the feeling of her hand that rests on his shoulders , tensing slightly under the touch although he pushes it to the back of his mind . ❝ i’ve barely stepped foot out of my apartment , like … the world doesn’t exist with her gone and when i found out … , ❞ peter voices quietly , breath hitching in his throat at the guilt that bubbles in his chest . he knows that he doesn’t hurt alone , she was also gwen’s friend .
she knows that’s where he’s been. she’s figured as much, anyway. it’s the only thing that’s made sense to her when she’d realized it’s practically impossible to reach him. she can’t imagine how hard it must be for him, how.... incredibly low and heavy the feeling is. if only she could find the right words, or bring gwen back. “it’s okay. you don’t-- you don’t have to hide away from it. you should let it all out, maybe you’ll feel some sort of relief,” she suggests. and then she pauses. “the world misses her. and the world misses you, too.”

though droids are incapable of feeling irritation , this one’s answering whirring is close. it lifts the angle of her bed so that the jedi , still under sedation , is in her line of vision. “ now may i finish my task? ”
she almost wishes that the droids are able to sense her dismay, to look at the concern and worry in her eyes and be able to fully sympathize. it’s naive, and knowing that it’s naive is only proven by the droid’s response. her shoulders slump forward, and she nods as her eyes shift to look at the sedated jedi. “o-okay. sure.”

gaze focuses on her for a long moment as silence draws out between them, head tilting just a fraction to one side as he studies her. “ it’s tolerable. ” a hand lifting to gesture towards the ship. “ we’ll find something else later. ” another moment passes before his gaze finally slips away from her and towards their surroundings, caution clear in the stiffness of his posture.
it’s not her favorite term. it’s not her favorite way to use nav systems. but she can manage tolerable. she can work with that. it’s better than useless, right? “alright, let’s see what we can do with it.” now it’s her turn to gesture toward the ship, her feet beginning to move toward the ship. “the sooner we start, the better.”
