Noticed that lots of folks have been on a spicy kick lately, decided that I wanted to come out to play too. Definitely mild spice on my end, albeit still suggestive. Thank you everyone for your contributions, and hopefully this one is okay too 🙏

A LOP art book is on the way!! + notes on korean interview with art direction team
The official LOP Art book is currently in production!! (from this set of interviews) [link]
TONS of amazing content over at korean language interview with the art team!! I wanted to share because I think yall would really enjoy. If you like, you can just use google translate to read it pretty effectively. I myself am using google translate. (they also actually discuss pinocchio's freckles!!)
LOP development started with only 30 people and at time of interview had grown to 69 (there's another article i will dig up later that mentions they ended at around 100 people?). Interesting to me because that's really not a ton of people for a project of this size
funnily enough, the art team claims they were never trying to make pinocchio "attractive" or beautiful. They focused on creating a character that was both artificial and human, as though he was in between a doll and a human being [I reckon he just kind of turned out that way, probably because of the inclusion of said doll-like features. LOOK AT THOSE DOLLY LASHES AND GLASSY EYES.]
they also talk about the freckles here!! Art Director's answer on the freckles:
basically that geppetto gave him freckles because he wanted to humanize pinocchio, since he is "ultimately a doll" [i find this kind of tragic]
More on Pinocchio's character design: REALLY interesting response that actually, Pinocchio is more "flawed"
Q. I also had the feeling that [he was] a typical idol who was pretty and handsome.
A. Art Director Cha Byeong-jun: Actually, if you look at the facial shape, Pinocchio in <The Lie of P> has more imperfections.
Antonia herself as a metaphor for the "fallen krat", a once powerful and prosperous city now fallen to ruin.
