That was a fair concern to have, when Vanna was violently awoken by the destruction, the very first thing she had worried about was whether or not everyone was okay. The difference between her and Sylvester, however, was that once she was assured that everybody was safe and unhurt, the mollusc immediately abandoned the cleanup crew and made off for Solarium.
She had also thought it reasonable for the doctor to continue helping people here, but if that was the case, then what was he doing here? Right now he was in a remote part of the library with only his DreamWeaver and his sheep. Maybe he was suffering burnout from helping so many people here that he had to take a moment and recharge. It was a lot easier to handle one individual than a whole crowd of them, right?
Tumblr media
“It’s cool, you don’t have to explain yourself to me, and it’s okay to help yourself first, too.” It was crazy how a baseless assumption could hit the nail on the head. Vanna absentmindedly scratched the top of her head with the business card as she spoke. “After all, I was looking to learn here, and yet I found you instead!”
Mm....so the other assumed he was ‘helping himself’ by being here? Not really, in all honesty, travelling here meant he was having to deal with a lot of upset people who’d fled from Koi, as had been the point in coming over in the first place - if he, a psychologist really wanted to ‘help himself’ first, he would have stayed behind in Koi where nobody was for peace and quiet! However, it was true that he couldn’t possibly handle every one at them at the same time and needed to carefully manage the psychology meetings. He wished he could talk to them all at once, but client privacy was important. “I’ll probably be heading back to seeing those of Koi that ran here soon.” A pause, before he listened to the other’s next statement. “I suppose it was a very lucky coincidence, that you did happen to come across me and my friends at this time. Do you....require someone to talk too as well? Seeing as I’m going back to work soon, I may as well offer you my services first while you’re here, you know?”

🐱–“I know, at the same time. It’s even disturbing that someone think it’s funny to think that this is even a game.” Adrien remarks, he twirls the spoon around absent mindedly. If he has his full powers, he should be able to rescue plenty of citizens in no time. But during that time, his cataclysm was kind of nerfed down.
🐱–“But what’s next after this?” Adrien asks finally. “What if the city… plans more stuff to us? I don’t like that. But I’m having so mixed thoughts about it that I don’t know where to start.”
“I know....so many people got hurt, or worse - due to the events of that, and some of them are never going to be seen again - but worrying and stressing overly about the future’s no way to live either, right? It runs the risk of a bad event overwhelming that current state of already-negativity and having a breakdown, or even worse, taking permanent damage from it. As frightening as the potential future may be...for the sake of our friends here that we may have made, friends who may be stuck here with us....shouldn’t we try our best to work to be strong and work together?” A pause, before he mused, softly: “It might be hard, to be strong, true - but if you ever need my card - -” He holds out his psychologist’s card at this point.

Locket had snapped up the cardstock a second before his handler could grab it. The cephalopod blanked for a moment, and started to laugh at the audacity of the little dragon. “I-I am so sorry! He’s just really excitable, is all!” Her demeanor didn’t really seem apologetic, but could you blame her? Vanna never had a pet before, and even though the dragons were not ‘pets’ in the traditional sense, the novelty was still there.
Tumblr media
Good thing it only took one tug to get him to release. One of the corners was shredded by his teeth, but the card itself was perfectly legible. “Oh, so you’re from Koi? That’s cool! I’m in the pairing project myself.” Idle clawed hands began scratching the top of her familiar’s head while she talked. “I came here to study magic, but it’s a lot more involved than I thought…”
Ah - before he could blink, the dragon following the underwater-looking Vanna snapped at the card. Did they assume it was a snack of some kind? DreamWeaver, his own dragon, blinked from his spot and made soft little bemused chirps of laughter at it all, but Sylvester shook his head at the apology. “Dragons are their own beings, and likely just as smart as us, so they probably shouldn’t be expected to be ‘controlled’ or anything - so you don’t need to apologise for anything your little friend did, you know?” Honestly, talking about the dragons...he was glad for DreamWeaver’s company, but - when the portals closed, would the dragons vanish as well? It felt very sad that possibility was an unavoidable inevitability - that he had to leave DreamWeaver behind like his uncle...mm. Though, he couldn’t be selfish and expect them to stay when they normally didn’t exist in this world. All he could do was enjoy the time he had with the other - but Vanna’s words next dragged his thoughts away from those serious ones of before. Ah, another Koi-dweller? So his guess that most of them came here to flee the city in it’s state was correct... “I haven’t gotten into the ‘magic’ myself, in honesty... as I said - my focus has been on trying to help those who also fled here.”

It came as a welcome relief that the doctor wasn’t offended. It was a bit of a marvel for him to have such a mellow reaction. Maybe she was reading too many thrillers, after all they were in a library. If she had ill intent she likely wouldn’t spend so much time here. Not when most of the people were still in class.
So the strange creature he was with was called a ‘sheep?’ and he had multiple ones? His house had to have been huge to take care of them! Not to mention bringing them outside to find grass and all, especially in either a crowded city or this confined campus. It must have been worth it if he was serious about using their fur-wool to make things. You could make a business out of that!
Tumblr media
She tried leaning in to get a better look of the fiber sculpture, mindful of the chair and trying not to squish her dragon. “It’s quite cute, not like the real deal, but still.” Her hair tentacles started to wiggle as she pondered the youth in front of her. He didn’t seem like much of a magician, but he had a dragon and he was in a magical library, so it was possible. It was also possible he was a tourist like her, but he seemed to have the presence of a local, if that made sense.
“Hmm, my name’s Vanna. What should I call you?”
It really was a surprise to see someone so honestly fascinated with such a simple thing in his world as hand-knitted objects - then again, if the other lived underwater as he assumed they did, then it made sense as to why it would be a strange and exotic thing for them: and sheep as well, because both those things weren’t that helpful underwater or couldn’t live there. One or the other. “Yes, it’s not exactly the same, but it is just as soft and warm to hold because wool is that soft - at least, that’s what I’ve heard.” He wanted to be careful that he didn’t let slip such a ‘childish’ thing as sleeping with plush toys... He was a mature psychologist, after all. When given an introduction, he reached a hand in his fluffy hoodie’s pockets for his psychologist card, holding it out for the other to take if they so wished on matter of instinct as he usually did when he met someone. “Doctor Sylvester Ashling - psychologist of Koi! Nice to meet you, Vanna. Normally I stay in Koi, but with...what happened in koi likely having many people come here for safety, I decided my services and help were better suited to following those that came here: after all, I wouldn’t be much help with ‘moving rubble’ or heavy things like that, you know?” That, and knowing the explosions would have his best friend upset too alongside the many others that fled here...he really cared about her and wanted to make sure she was okay too, but he kept that part to himself. Best to remain professional here around a stranger he’d just met, after all.

Oh man. The human didn’t catch her spying, did he? Yeah. Yeah he did. Well that’s great, now the mollusc had to come up with an excuse for why she was staring without sounding like a creep. She just couldn’t help herself. That strange fluffy creature near the redhead looked so strange, and the fact that it was playing with a dragon was even stranger! There were no sheep where she came from, so seeing the one before her now was even more fantastical then his golden dragon companion.
Tumblr media
Pushing the book cart she was hiding behind away, Vanna approached the table the small psychologist was settled at, and chose a chair two seats down. She had turned the chair backwards, so the backrest was resting against her front. Presently, her dragon ally was latched to the back of her sweater like a furry backpack, so the octoling had to leave her back uncovered. “Uh, sorry about spying on you and all, it’s just… I have never seen one of those before,” she said, pointing at the sheep. Her own dragon, interested by the kid’s ability, started nipping at Vanna’s hair, hoping to get her attention. “Wha- no, Locket. We don’t do that. C’mere.” She reached over and placed the familiar so his hind legs rested in her lap while his front legs were placed on the chair’s back.
Ah - Sylvester blinked at seeing the stranger properly for the first time. Tentacles for hair...? Back home, Epithets could sometimes manifest in inscribed physically, though usually that only happened with higher-rank ones, so it wasn’t all that strange to see someone like this: if he was back home, he would have assumed them to have an ocean-related Epithet of some kind. Though it was unlikely they had come from New Jazz or anything. Waving off the apology for ‘spying’ on him, he mused: “A lot of folk who live in Koi or otherwise tend to be very surprised and curious about my sheep when I have them around, so you’re not the first to be inquisitive of them - nor do I think you’ll be the last, so it’s okay.” A pause, he guessing from the choice of wording which the other didn’t even say what a ‘sheep’ was, that they must indeed come from someplace quite isolated or exceedingly different from home - he then explaining: “My sheep are my friends. They’re fluffy animals that eat grass and you can make things out of their wool if you’re good at knitting. Giovanni’s more skilled at that than me...” For shoe of reference, he dug out the ‘gift’ the loud oaf had given him on tackling him and talking to him earlier: a small yarn sheep made from pink wool. “Of course, someone else made this for me, as my sheep have golden-yellow wool, not pink, but this is something made out of wool too!”

Of Water and Land (Closed - Vanna)
( closed mini event starter for @inkyhearted ) When he’d seen the explosions of fire and rubble in the city - in honestly, his thoughts had gone right to Molly, to making sure she was alright because he KNEW full well fire and such awful things like this would only remind her of a deep fear, something she’d had to go through that had left lasting trauma long ago - so his thoughts had not been on Koi. This happening with hardly ANY break after the events of so many dying at the underwater mess? Was it any wonder everyone wouldn’t take it well? The fixing of things was not his expertise, he felt that with everyone - and his best friend - likely panicking and running to the ‘safer’ of the two worlds, as a psychologist he should follow everyone there to be of better use. After all, he wasn’t exactly going to be helpful in the terms of rebuilding what had been damaged back at Koi: though ‘dragons’ being actually real and not things only spoken of in stories was a surprise. Well, who was he to judge what was ‘strange’ or not, people could call his own Epithet strange. Speaking of that, he was currently sitting down in the library area of the ‘school’, watching to see how introducing his sheep to the dragon who was also going to be a friend like his sheep  - would go. He’d been a little worried at first, but the gold-colored dragon seemed....to be telling jokes, making little chirps that the sheep gave baa-ing laughter at? ...That reminded him of his uncle a little. It was a little comforting. Though, it seemed he and his sheep and dragon weren’t alone, because he saw a strange individual near the books as well - were they watching, or just there to try and read? “Hello...? Me and my sheep don’t mean any harm, and neither does DreamWeaver, my dragon friend. I can’t see you really well from there, it’s okay to not hide!”

"....My apologies for so many of us intruding on your school of learning like this, but may I have one of those famillars as well? I'd rather take my chances at your school than stay at the city with it in such a state..."

I assure you, it is no problem, after all I was the one to open the portal and allow everyone to come here. Such a thing is only proper when something that caused me problems has started to be a thorn in another side, but I distress. Such things aren’t important, Please do enjoy the school and town.
[Clapping her hands, a rose gold dragon appears, with a white snout. Soft stars twinkle all over its body and it’s tail as Pluto orbiting it]
The city of Koi will be repaired, good as new… Like nothing happened in time, but efforts to help repair it are very welcome. it is not as dangerous as it may seem, I assure you … No one who didn’t deserve to be hurt was hurt. That being said, please don’t go attempting to touch any flames

🐱–“Of course! I still need to get used to this since I’m on my own now.” Adrien tells him. A pause. This is why he /was/ visiting on this day right? The events are still leaving him unsettled as he figured about telling Sylvester his problems. “Did you go to that island too? I did so myself , thinking it was fun and all.” Adrien hesitates slightly. “But it has enough casualties as it is. ”
Ah....someone who actually managed to escape the underwater situation. Sylvie winces at the reminder of the casualties, especially given he only recently started to get over the assumption that ‘he’ was the one to blame for their deaths because his powers had been worthless and should have done more for them - no, no. Steady his breathing. “...It was really horrible what happened to everyone, yes. Yet lingering and allowing that guilt to control us...it’s not healthy. I had to be told that the hard way. As hard as it is, we have to try and make things better and move forward, for their sake.”

“Whoa!” Haruka let out a yelp in surprise as the sheep quite evidently backed away upon his attempts to pet it. Okay, so no touching. He could deal with that no matter how much he wanted to give in to his urges to feel that soft wool against his fingers. Somehow he could swear it seemed almost impatient but sheep weren’t capable of such emotions, were they? Honestly Haruka didn’t know the first thing about the animal in general – he was a city boy who had lived most of his life in the hospital after all. The farm life laid very far away from his knowledge.
Tumblr media
This wasn’t how he had anticipated his day was going to turn out when he woke up this morning. Standing in the middle of the street trying to communicate with a sheep. Standing straight from his crouching position, Haruka’s glance shot around the vicinity looking for someone who might seem as though they were searching for a lost sheep. “Is your owner somewhere nearby? Is that what you’re trying to tell me?”
The leader of the pack of sheep was glad, that at least the stranger in front of him understood that touching right now was a no-go, and finally seemed to comprehend his master was nearby at least - but it seemed like he might still need to call the other sheep with Sylvie closer and take that risk now, huh? Turning around a little reluctantly, he called to the other sheep, who moved very slowly out into the open to be seen, the boy still exhausted and slumped over the top of them. Thankfully, he hadn’t fallen off due to the slow movements at least. It was at this point the leader turned back to the other human, giving a pleading look. Surely they had to understand their master needed help now, right? He wasn’t sure what else he could do to convey that seeing as the rest of the flock had brought Sylvester out to visibly be seen and all...

Having the ability to just go to vendors is still somewhat novel to Lio. That he can do so whenever he pleases and purchase something to snack on is something he’s very much enjoying. Even if how much he likes going grocery shopping is a bit strange. It also gives him an opportunity to observe people in this place with a plausible excuse. If he can just figure out what they all have in common that makes them suitable for being in this place, then…           Maybe he can figure out how to get out.           He’s jostled from the thought, quite literally, by a line of fluffy shapes- not too badly, but enough that his attention snaps to them. The sheep mill around behind each other, though occasionally one turns toward him and makes a noise and Lio… Lio isn’t sure what to make of them. They’re strange but interesting, and part of him wants to inspect them more closely. His hand reaches out, intent on seeing what they feel like, when the voice interjects, making him turn to stare, blinking wide eyes as if he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t.
Tumblr media
“No, not at all I…” The hand that had been reaching out retracts with whiplike speed, curling against his hip instead as he stares at the apparent owner of the sheep. “Haven’t ever really seen them this close, actually.”
Tumblr media
First miss Amalie, now this curious stranger with hair of a colour he’s never seen before fascinated by his sheep - he’d wager a educated guess the stranger in front of him, too, perhaps may have grown up in the city as well, but it may not be the case, true. A smart psychologist as himself knows better than to make assumptions these days, given how poorly the LAST one he made back home went. That thought aside, it wasn’t like it was that curious a hair colour, given Giovanni’s eye-hurtingly blinding pink and all. Shaking that trail of thought aside, well - he was a little relieved that the other hadn’t touched the sheep, what with them either making those that touched them drowsy or outright fall asleep due to their nature of being sentient and living forms of Sleep Dust: but, well, the stranger did seem to have gloves on, so they might have been okay? Still, it would have been awkward to have a stranger fall asleep due to his sheep again. “Oh, you don’t mind waiting? That’s a relief. I wouldn’t want to be an inconvenience to anyone...but it seems like a lot of folk I’ve met here in this place also haven’t seen sheep so close before this. I bet it must look quite the sight, them following someone who doesn’t even look like a ‘usual’ shepherd in farmer’s clothing like this, haha...”  A small, awkward laugh at his awful attempt of ‘light’ conversation, there. He was really bad at it, please someone stop him.

Honestly he had come to accept his fate in this new city and that certain things in life were just not something one could prepare for before they happened, but even so some things were still a full on surprise no matter how much you thought yourself prepared. Having his sleeve apparently gobbled up by a sheep was one such thing Haruka wasn’t sure he could have anticipated before hand. “Uwah!” he let out a loud yelp feeling the tug and looking down at the creature nomming away on his clothes.
Tumblr media
“No, stop, you can’t do that!” he scolded it, tugging back and trying to salvage his clothes without any harm done to them. Somehow he succeeded and the now soaked sleeve felt gross against his skin. How troublesome. He had to change clothes when he got home. Crouching down, Haruka took in the creature’s appearance with a frown of his brow. “What am I supposed to do with you~?” he hummed with a worried singsong. Was this a sheep from some nearby farmland he didn’t know about or something? Trying to locate its owner seemed like something that was going to be very troublesome.
Somehow it seemed the sheep wanted something from him, but surely that was just his imagination. As far as Haruka knew, sheep weren’t like dogs and cats or something like that who could want you to play with them or pet them. Still… Now that he looked closer… “Waah, you’re so cute…!” A single pat on the sheep’s head couldn’t hurt, right? Right. He attempted it at least!
Having gotten the stranger’s attention quite quickly with nibbling their sleeve, the pompadour-sporting sheep that was the leader of Sylvie’s flock gave a stare at the scolding the other was giving him, a rather unapologetic one at that - given he only did it to try and direct the other human’s attentions TO his master, he wasn’t sorry at all. After all, his master and friend Sylvester’s well-being was the most important thing to him! Now, how to tell the human what exactly he SHOULD be ‘doing with him’? He wanted, ideally, to make the other human follow him to where the other sheep where holding Sylvester, but it seemed the other was clueless to this right now. When he outstretched a hand, the sheep backed away - being made of sleep dust, he knew the other human would get groggy or WORSE - go to sleep - if he touched he, the sheep, directly, and that wouldn’t be helpful for getting Sylvester help at all. The sheep looked back to where the other sheep were, then back to the human, urging. “Baaa!!” He’d nibble on the sleeve again if he had to, but if the human was too confused, he might have to risk the master falling off the other sheep and get them to come forward with the master so the other human could see and know what they wanted...

Epithets and Akin to Such (Closed- Lio Fotia)
(closed starter for @pridefueled ) Ugh - Sylvester felt more than a little ashamed that he’d had to have a ‘pep talk’ organised by his ‘Counting Sheep’, of all people - but they had meant well, he knew, and given how bad he was at socialising, he probably wouldn’t have talked to anyone at all about the matter. As much as he hated admitting it, hated admitting to being ‘weak’ when as a psychologist he should be better than that...he had to thank the sheep now, and so he’d gone out to give them a treat, the sheep all lining up in a fluffy and (likely adorable to watch) line behind him as he walked to the nearest fruit-seller. They liked apples the most, so the best way to thank them was to get them all an apple: yes, it probably would set himself back a bit of money for the week, but if he’d kept going on pushing himself unreasonably hard, it would have affected Molly if it had gone on too much longer as well, so...even if it was hard to not feel that guilt, he had to try to move on, not blame himself for something so out of his control. Though, it seemed a passer-by had distracted his sheep friends, they turning and bleating with soft cries. Ah....well, that was becoming common, though it was usually rare for his Counting Sheep to hold such an interest in a passerby. “My apologies....are me and my line of sheep a little in the way? I’m buying them a treat, but if you want to go ahead of us, you can, you’re probably going to be stuck in line a while if we go first, honestly...”

Heart on your sleeve (Closed - Haruka)
(closed starter for @sunsetglutton )   There were several Counting Sheep having been summoned from Sylvester Ashling’s sleep dust at this point, working together to support the tired boy - but it was clear that getting someone to just ‘help’ him wake up wasn’t enough, he had to talk to someone about his problems or he’d just keep overly pushing himself - they weren’t Beefton and couldn’t tell their master this directly, due to their lack of english - but at least they could try to help in outside ways, so the leader of the flock searched for someone this time. A human that might listen....he, being the leader, was smart enough to try and figure out one for himself, as the other person who’d helped before had already helped enough, and they couldn’t bother any further. Spying an familiar boy, the sheep trotted to them, baaing brashly and trying to get a grip so to tug on their sleeve to get the stranger's attention to Sylvester still groggy on the other sheep. “Baaaa!! Baa...” Looked like the sheep was very insistent on getting the other to follow him to Sylvester. True, the sheep didn’t know this human either, but he’d take ANYONE talking to his master and helping him at this point...

Sleepy Sheep (Closed - Dazai Osamu)
(closed starter for @osamudiezai )   He....he had to work harder, had to make up to everyone he’d ‘let down and failed’ who’d died in the underwater incident because his powers hadn’t been enough to help any of them, he’d been no help to anyone, and the guilt continually gnawed at him: though it was slightly less on putting his all into helping the living, not putting ‘rest’ in mind and pushing himself for their sake - yet the fact of the matter was that he had not realised that refusing to ‘think of himself’ out of the misguided assumption the deaths under the waves was ‘his burden’ to shoulder only left him tired, exhausted. Pushing himself so hard constantly - it of course resulted in collapse, and a few passers-by scattered in alarm at sleep dust fluttering off the psychologist: a Counting Sheep appearing just in time and cushioning the fall. ...Their beloved friend Sylvester, their creator, was in danger. The sheep knew that much, but who to help...? The large sheep looked around for someone, anyone - trotting to the closest person they could find and baaing in quiet, yet pleading a manner. Would they help? The sheep kept giving a big puppy-dog eyes look to the hapless stranger who’d come across them...

A meeting of minds (Closed - Light Yagami)
Tumblr media
(closed starter for @godliken )   Rubbing his eyes a moment behind the thick golden-yellow spectacles, Sylvester couldn’t help but stifle a small yawn - he’d been working so hard to help people on the surface with psychological assistance after the incident of the underwater event he hadn’t been getting a lot of sleep. Thus, why he was here at one of Koi’s cafes today, to get some coffee strong enough to help keep him alert. Now wasn’t the time to take time for ‘himself’, after all: but it seemed like his loud yawnings had attracted the attention of a very proper-looking individual a table away. Ah. “My apologies...I haven’t been getting a lot of sleep with a lot of people needing help lately. Especially with that frightening instance of people going missing after a flash of light, right after the underwater incident  - the public populace is really frightened and a lot of them are coming to therapists like myself for some sort of guidance...” He’d heard whispers about people ‘going missing’ after a big flash of light or something: could an Epithet have caused that? Ugh, still... “...Ah...I shouldn’t be talking about all that to a complete stranger, my apologies. Probably how tired I am, huh...” He fell silent, then, feeling the kick of bad social conversation hit him. He....wasn’t good at talking to people in general sometimes outside of work.
