Rian: Most of them have been outdoor. Thankfully we're on once the sun goes down, but that only makes it slightly less hot. I'll take it, though. It's just nice to be on the road again. Of course, of course. We have plenty of water, cold brew, and white claw on deck.

Rian: I miss you too. Whenever you want to come out to a show, just let me know. We'll get you here.

Rian: Surprisingly well...? For a while we weren't sure if Jack was going to join us or not, but he pulled through at the end.

Shay: Being on after the sun goes down must make it a little bit better. But you're always a big sweaty mess regardless whenever you come off stage. Good, I'm glad. I know you boys can't survive without cold brew and White Claw on hand.

Shay: I'll see what I can do! I would love to see you guys play again.

Shay: I talked to Jack a little bit while he was away and tried to get a read on what was going on in his head and everything. I had a feeling he would come through in the end when it came to touring with you guys. I'm just glad that the band is all back together again, even if it may be awkward.

Rian: We're in Texas. It's hotter than hades out here, but otherwise, tour has been fun.

Rian: How are things with you? How's Atlas?

Shay: Oof, the heat in Texas is the worst. I was there for a book signing in the dead of summer once and it was miserable. I couldn't even imagine playing a full show in that. Especially if it's an outdoor venue. Stay hydrated!

Shay: I'm good. Just keeping busy with work, as always. Atlas is doing good too. She definitely misses you. We both do.

Shay: How have things been with Alex and Jack? Any awkwardness there or are they cool?

𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧 ( 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖. )

It had been a couple months since Shay and Rian decided mutually to take a break from their relationship. Between the long distance and Matte butting into their relationship, it seemed like it was the only logical solution for them in the moment. She had no intentions of getting back with the father of her daughter, but she needed some time to set some boundaries when it came to him. The breakup hit her harder than she expected. Mainly because right now it was just so awkward. Rian was not only her boyfriend, but also her best friend. And while she knew he was still always going to be there for her, she also knew it just wasn’t the same at the moment. It even felt awkward when it came to the other band members. While they were still her friends, she knew that they would always have Rian’s back at the end of the day. She didn’t hold that against them, she just missed how things used to be. 

After completing both hers and Altas’s nighttime routines, Shay settled into bed and began scrolling through her phone. Her thumb was drawn right to the brightly colored Instagram icon. After double tapping on a few of her friends posts, she suddenly came across an image that made her scroll back up. It was a photo of a beautiful woman in a revealing dress. She through nothing of it until she realized it was from Rian’s account and it was simply captioned “hi megan”. Shay could feel her heart drop from the pit of her chest into her stomach. The more she scrolled, the more information she learned. Megan was a friend of Alexis and it seemed as if all the boys have already welcomed her right into the group. They posted pictures of them grabbing lunch with her or getting ready to head to the show that evening. She couldn’t help the tears that cascaded down her cheeks. It felt as if they had found a replacement for her already. Better yet, she was already friends with Alexis, so of course the boys would be accepting of her. Shay’s mind was running wild with thoughts, wondering if anything happened between her and Rian. She then tried to rationalize with herself by realizing she was being crazy. But of course, the thoughts barged back in. Her initial reaction was to open her messages app and go into her messages with Rian. She desperately wanted to text him. But she knew she shouldn’t. They weren’t together at the moment, so if anything was happening he would have every right to do so. 

Her curiosity got the better of her and she went on a social media deep dive of pictures that were posted from the concert that evening. Not only did she look at everyone she knew from the band and crew, she also looked to Twitter for pictures and videos the fans took. There were a few from fans in the front row that caught glimpses of Alexis and Megan standing side stage. it became very obvious that Megan’s eyes were strictly glued onto Rian. Shay was seething with rage at how this woman was eye-fucking her man. Even if they weren’t currently together, she had hope that they would work through this rough patch in time. She loved this man with every fiber of her being and she knew in her heart that they would overcome this. However, the moment she saw a video of the end of the show where as soon as the boys were exiting off the stage. Megan threw her arms around Rian’s neck, hugged him, and placed a few kisses on his cheek. Although the video was shaky and a bit blurry due to the zoom and distance, but Shay could have sworn the woman even leaned in for a kiss. Her phone fell from her hands, before picking it up and throwing it across the room out of anger and sadness. The tears were overflowing onto her pillow as she curled up under the covers of her bed. Rian was already moving on with someone else. Someone who was Alexis’s friend and fit perfectly into the band. Someone who was absolutely beautiful. Someone who could probably offer him more than she could. Someone who didn’t have a child and the burden of a baby daddy in the picture.
