intro to the band
The band is made up of four members, Johnny Rotten as the lead vocalist, Steve Jones as the Guitarist, Paul Cook as the drummer and Glen Matlock on bass until he was later replaced by Sid Vicious in 1977.
The sex Pistols were formed back in 1975 in London by their manager Malcolm McLaren to promote his clothing shop “sex” but by the summer of 1976 the Sex Pistols had attracted avid fan base and where on the rise to becoming the leaders of the new teenage movement. In December of 1976 the band appeared on live TV using profanities and by the end of the show the group had became a national sensation.
The bands first record label was EMI and they recorded their first single “Anarchy in the UK”. EMI decided to drop the band due to scandalise and bad press brought on by the bands actions in January 1977. The band was then picked up by the record label called A&M Records but was quickly dropped in March after only being signed for a couple of day. After this the band quickly signed to Virgin Records and released their second album “God Save The Queen” in June 1977 to coincide with Queen Elizabeth's Sliver Jubilee, Because of this the song was banned by the British media and the band was labelled as “public enemies number one” and subjected to harassment and physical violence and new bans where brought in by the British government that made it extremely hard for the band to  be able to play live in the UK.
By the time their  album “never mind the bollocks here’s the sex pistols” reached number one all four member's had recorded together for the last time and after their biggest show to date in San Francisco the band split in January 1978 after three short years.
