NEW: COVID19 variant of interest JN.1

Geneva, 19 December 2023 -- Due to its rapidly increasing spread, WHO is classifying the variant JN.1 as a separate variant of interest (VOl) from the parent lineage BA.2.86. It was previously classified as VOl as part of BA.2.86 sublineages.

WHO advises people to take measures to prevent infections and severe disease using all available tools. These include:

-Wear a mask when in crowded, enclosed, or poorly ventilated areas, and keep a safe distance from others, as feasible

-Improve ventilation

-Practise respiratory etiquette - covering coughs and sneezes

-Clean your hands regularly

-Stay up to date with vaccinations against COVID-19 and influenza, especially if you are at high risk for severe disease

-Stay home if you are sick

-Get tested if you have symptoms, or if you might have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or influenza

For health workers and health facilities, WHO advises:

-Universal masking in health facilities, as well as appropriate masking, respirators and other PPE for health workers caring for suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients.

-Improve ventilation in health facilities

• PRCS ambulance centre in Jabalia ‘invaded’ by Israeli forces; Palestinian Red Crescent Society crews and paramedics have been abducted and taken to an unknown location.

• An entire residential block of the Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City was blown up by the IOF. Al-Rimal is a popular cultural, social, and business center, considered the city’s most prosperous neighbourhood.

• Europe 1, a leading French radio station, has reported that 4,185 French citizens 🇫🇷 are serving in the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.

• Israeli forces bulldozed the Sheikh Shaban cemetery in eastern Gaza, destroying graves and exposing bodies. This is not the first such recorded incident.

• Israeli protestors tried to block aid trucks entering Gaza.

End the violent occupation, ceasefire immediately and permanently, free all Palestinian prisoners, and free Palestine!

If she didn’t whip him a few times and tell him to get out, kneel at the ancestral shrine, and keep far away from Jiang Cheng, he already considered that pretty good.

Israel mistook three hostages for Palestinian civilians and killed them.

Israel killed 20,000 civilians and counting. I wonder how many Palestinians of these 20,000 killed will make it on the front page of CNN, or any news outlet for that matter.

At this point, I'm sure the IOF's morale is worse than ever, especially after murdering those hostages. There's no return from that; the entire Israeli regime and its army are now the world's laughing stock. This once "powerful" army in the Middle East now reduced to nothing but a circus. In the meantime, the resistance is growing stronger and popular, while Israel continues to lose the PR war and has to desperately cling on Uncle Sam for leverage.

This morning Israeli snipers shot and killed my two family friends in an attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza. Nahida (Um Emad Anton) and Samar, mother and daughter, were walking to the Sisters’ Convent to use the only bathroom. One was killed as she tried to carry the other to safety. Their bodies remain strewn across the church courtyard. The water tanks and solar panels were also struck. We don’t know if they have enough water to survive. The Christian community in Gaza is on the verge of extinction. There are about 800 of us left, some sheltering in the Catholic church, some in the Orthodox church, and a few still in their homes in Gaza City. There are approximately 530 Christians inside the Holy Family, 60 per cent are women and children. My family has been sheltered there since St. Porphyrius Orthodox Church was bombed and my cousin was murdered. This is a targeted death campaign during the Christmas season on the world’s oldest Christian community. Earlier this morning, an Israeli tank fired on the Convent of the Sisters of Mother Theresa. The convent housed ~54 people with disabilities. The generator was destroyed, taking out electricity. Then two more shells were fired completely destroying the convent. Many of these people are now without the respirators they need to survive. Reminder that communications in all of Gaza have been cut off for the past three days. This means no one can make calls to check on family members within Gaza or to report and call for help/ambulances following Israeli airstrikes. As a result, many end up dying due to injuries or being trapped under the rubble with no possible way of notifying anyone. Of course this also goes hand in hand with Israel intensifying their bombardment of every part of Gaza after having isolated it from the world.

Israel blows up Gaza's "Palace of Justice" compound which housed the Palestinian Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the Court of First Instance & the Magistrate. 100,000s of vital case documents are gone. Deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure is a War Crime!

Israel's soldiers took victory images inside the Palestinian Supreme Court before blowing it up into pieces. This proves the facility constituted ZERO danger to the Israeli military & no militants were hiding inside it at the time it was destroyed. Again, a war crime!
