yes, not all angels are related to religion ! some of us are creatures that exist devoid of any religious context. angels have been popularized by the bible and other religious texts, but religion didn’t invent angels. we’re just Creatures that happen to be associated with religion more often than not :P

One of my favorite character ideas that I've never done anything with is a mysterious robot who joins a band of outlaws, and they all think that the robot is weird as fuck and refer to the robot as an "it" instead of as a person. But one day, the robot gets incapacitated in combat, and while trying to repair it everyone discovers that it's actually a human living inside incredibly complex mechanized armor. And everyone else is like "wow I'm sorry we all treated you like that, you were a real person just like us all along!" and the person just puts the robot suit back on and is like "no it's ok this is my gender actually I use it/it's pronouns" and the story literally just goes on without a hitch and absolutely nothing changes about the group dynamic.
