"Maybe I'll represent you if you ever get divorced," she said with a bit of a laugh. A part of her hoped that he wouldn't get married, but that was selfish. Then maybe it failing wouldn't be such a bad thing. She nodded. "Does Saturday work for you?"
Tumblr media
“Ok, deal. Because you are the greatest lawyer I know. Doesn’t matter if anyone else says otherwise.” He mused before instantly nodding at Marigold’s suggestion. “Yeah, definitely, I’m good with this weekend. Got to see these trails, and you’ll have to show me your favorite hiking spots around here.”

Spencer wouldn't doubt that. He thinks that s his mom wouldn't call nearly as often if she didn't miss him the way that she does. And he can handle fifteen minutes on the phone every day. Who's it going to hurt? Nobody! "Oh, there's no harm in it though. I mean, they raised us. I think it's hard to let go."
He nods. Spencer's own place doesn't have a lot going on. He's not the best with decorating. In fact, he hasn't done a whole lot of it yet. He tells himself that he's going to get to it but it hasn't happened. "See, now that you say that, I'm tempted to keep this for myself!"
Tumblr media
Now that he mentions it, Beth realises her mother has been heading down the same path. She's brought up childhood stories far more in the last few years than ever before, but Beth had always put it down to the distance between them, with her here in Denver and her mother back in London. Don't all parents become more sentimental, more nostalgic, once their children fly the nest? Or is it really age, an appreciation for a long life well lived? Perhaps in a few decades, Beth will find out. "My mum, too. They miss us, I think." She grins, paintbrush teetering between butter fingers.
"That's true!" She hums. "A house truly becomes a home once it's full of stories. I find store-bought art nice, but kind of... Cold? There isn't usually much to feel about it compared to homemade decor, or stuff that's gifted to you by someone."

She rolled her eyes. "whole I can tell that you're being sarcastic, I doesn't make you any less wrong." She would never admit that pineapple was good because, as far as she was concerned, it wasn't. "Oh, you'll just say more weird, dirty things?" she asked with a laugh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It is! I thought all of my opinions were the best opinions ever and now I'm finding out they may not be? This is life changing, Caress." Daniel joked. In truth he thought the pineapple love was universal so he was shocked to hear that it wasn't but he knew he'd live. "Well now I just have to try to make it worse for you, you know that right?"

"Obviously I shouldn't have yelled at him." But he couldn't help it. Was that such a bad thing? Probably. He needed to get himself in check sometimes. That was one of them. He nodded. "Yeah, it's not the time I usually go. Just overslept that day." He simply had exceptionally bad luck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bianca nodded, trying to accept the full picture. She loved Gio dearly, even if sometimes he didn't think through his actions. But she knew this just seemed like a conversation that was just full of emotions on both ends, understandably so. "Okay so it sounds like you're both a bit valid here. I don't blame you for trying not to engage but I also don't blame him for trying to get answers." Bianca thought Oliver was a nice name, most Olivers she knew were nice. Like the one she employed! "Is there a way to avoid that specific time slot of meetings? Or are you going to have to see him each time?"

"That's a blatant lie!" he said with a bit of a huff. He wasn't surprised she was being dramatic though. It was just the way that she was. Gio groaned. "You're not always right! If there was an ideology that made you always right, then it would have to be wrong!" he insisted as he shook his head. "No offense though. You're just wrong a lot!" So was he. It was something that they had in common. He hummed. "Maybe we shouldn't disappoint Marco." That was a lot of work, he thought.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"No no! You say it all the time. That's like every other word out of your mouth." Okay so maybe that was far from the truth but Ripley had a point to make. Did she know the point? Also no. But she's sure she'd find it eventually if she kept talking. "I can't believe you're arguing with me, a woman, about what feminism is." Ripley saw her opportunity and took it. "But I am so sad, you know I have some good ideas! There's not all bad." She frowned slightly. "Okay that's fair. I am always worried that I'm about to go into hurt feelings territory. Most of the time I don't want that but it just kind of happens because we both know I don't think sometimes."

"Doctor bestie... I like that!" It only served as more motivation to get her degree. That and she would make everyone call her a doctor. After that much school, wouldn't she have earned it? That was what she had thought anyway. She went back over to the couch and shut her book. "So you're doing something more interesting than studying, I take it?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hearing how fast Fletcher was to get to the door only made Ripley's grin grow wider. "Well I sure hope it's me!" She said with a laugh as she entered Fletcher's place. "But I guess technically those other things are pretty important too. I mean I personally can't wait to start referring to you as my doctor bestie."

Fletcher grinned widely. "That's my whole thing. I'm smart," she joked as she ran a hand through her hair. She liked to know things, of course. That was why she'd spent as much time studying as she had thus far. "It's all about confidence... and some people think that I have too much of it."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maia shrugged slightly. Sure maybe she first considered learning about artwork in hopes of diving into art forgery but after seeing how hard that was to get into she just decided to do it as a hobby. "Oh you are so smart I definitely have to start thinking like that!"

Was she interested in sports? No, not really, but that didn't mean that Marigold couldn't fake it. She likely would. She laughed slightly. "Let's just settle for the fact that I'm good at what I do. We can both agree with that." She nodded. "What about this weekend? If you don't have any plans, we can go hiking!"
Tumblr media
“Yeah not too bad, huh? So if you’re interested in anything going on there, I have that in.” Carter mused, even if he knew she surely was incredibly tied up with her lawyer duties. “Who’s saying you aren’t already? I’ll have to find them and have a talk.” He nodded as he was certain Marigold surely excelled above other lawyers there. “Most weekends, I think we can definitely work that.”

"Is that what you're smart with, Pokemon?" he teased. It was more of a joke than it was anything else. He didn't think Chance was an idiot. And who was Gio to judge someone else's intelligence? He was no expert in much of anything. He laughed. "Aw, come on! You think that I would rat you out like that? You gotta give me some credit here! I'll keep your record secret, but you're gonna have to keep one for me when I come up with something!" He might not have anything yet but he knew himself well enough to know that he would have something soon enough.
Tumblr media
Chance smiled at his friend, shaking his head because he wasn't the person to talk to about therapy but Pokémon, he could do Pokémon. "Don't worry. Just a few lessons with me and you'll know so many, you'll make their heads spin," he told his friend before he glanced back down at the record in his hands as he tried to see if he could place it among his records at home. It didn't matter anymore. He'd already made his mind up that he'd give it to Ripley. "As long as you don't tell her how it came to be a gift for her, then we're golden. I'll be her favorite for at least a week until someone else tries to take that spot from me and I fight them for it," he concluded with a laugh, taking the record and placing it in the crook of his armpit so he could keep looking through the vinyl before him. If he didn't see anything that caught his interest like this one, then he might just leave with one which would be a new record when he typically had more than a few on the way out.

"I'm just having bad luck today," she said with a shake of her head. There were good drinks out there. The odds of her finding them, however was extremely low. She took a sip from her drink and sighed. "It'll do," she said after a beat. It wasn't her preference, but that didn't quite matter at this point. She leaned her elbows on the counter. "It is what it is."
Tumblr media
Ophelia really never had this kind of problem before. Even when she first started drinking, she knew to expect the bitter aftertaste. Or at least that's what it seemed like since everyone she saw would make a face after drinking. "Try it! If it's not good then... maybe we should get you an edible instead," she laughed.

"Squirrel?!" Is that an insult? It feels like it's supposed to be one, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he takes it that way. In fact, he grins at the comment. "Oh, taking food from bird feeders is peak me behavior. You might be right about that one!" He picks the glass up, taking a sip from it and humming. "Not bad! Also free... that's a good factor in all of this! Free is in the best factor."
Tumblr media
"A shark?" Erin muses over the thought as their lips reluctantly curve into a small smile. They'll tell themselves that it's because of his stupidity than anything else. Not that they enjoy his company or anything. After shaking the drink well, they then start to pour it into a chilled cocktail glass. Out comes a baby pink thick and frothy pink liquid which Erin tops with grated nutmeg. "You'd be a pink squirrel. You're squirrel-y. You give me taking food from bird feeders energy."

Gio was just being realistic here! It might not make sense to Ace, but it was true! Gio had been in trouble more than once about things that were supposed to be casual. "Hey, I'm just saying this as your friend. He shook his head. "But maybe it'll work out for you. I'm just saying that it never did for me." And that was that.
"Oh, I can play music at the end of the word. It isn't like there's a bad time to play music," he announced. There were a lot of times that he had played music at what had felt like the end of the world. (It hadn't been.) He groaned. "I would rather just... get my shit together when I'm around to see it, you know?"
Tumblr media
“Oh, dude, don’t say that to me! You’ll make me scared to even do causal.” Gio had a point, Ace knew that, but he preferred to be unaware. A soft smile found its way to his lips at the offer of a listening ear. It was good to know he had someone he could vent to if what he thought would never happen, actually did. “Good to know. Seriously, though, I don’t think it’ll ever happen. But I suppose people can surprise you.” Maybe he’d get his shot together, wake up one day and just be over his issues. That was possible, right? Anything was possible, technically.
“You can mooch off of me, but you have to pull your weight at least a little bit. I mean at the very least you can provide musical entertainment to keep us sane.” Ace tried his best to hide the smile on his face when Gio said they were friends. He had a lot of friends, friends were easy for him. But he always liked to make a new one. “Hey, there’s no time limit on getting your shit together. Half of us probably die before we even get there. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

That seemed like a stupid rule if you asked her, but what did Fletcher know? She hadn't worked at any bars in the past. She probably wouldn't in the future either. She huffed softly. "You have to have something that appeals to people who aren't fans of the taste of alcohol! Frankly, it's bad business not to! You should bring that up to your boss!"
Tumblr media
"Yea well you're not really gonna get something like at this bar." He really didn't want to fight with a customer, especially one so unreasonable as this one. "All of our drinks were made and tested so that people can taste and appreciate the alcohol, and if that's not for you, then maybe the liquor store around the corner will have more variety for you."

Okay, that worked too. Honestly, Phoenix got it. He did. He slept on the couch half the time when he was at home, though that was different because he had a choice in the matter. "Does it at least pull out? I mean, it has to be better than my couch!" Which was slanderous because he did love his couch. He shrugged. "'Cause you're busy! You don't have time for me which, by the way? Messed up. I have time for you! I'm a very not busy person!" And he'd drop a lot of things for his siblings. He thought he made that much clear. Maybe he didn't. "I'm guessing going out drinking is off the table?"
Tumblr media
"No, the couch is.. where I sleep." He shook his head, because of exactly how it sounded but despite it all; it was still better than where he'd been locked up for a few years. He'd take the couch until the others got tired of him, then he'd have to figure out the next step to this part of his life. "Yeah, no shit. That's why we don't really hang out much anymore, right? 'cause I don't have any good ideas." Not anymore. He used to enjoy going out at night or even working the jobs that he did with Maia, but these days he didn't even think anymore. It was work and the apartment. "What do people even do for fun anymore?"

Spencer isn't sure he has that problem. If they throw it away, it saves him the trouble of having to do it himself. "I don't know. My mom is very sentimental as she gets older!" He isn't sure if that's normal, but she wants him to visit a lot more than she used to. His own drawing is... well, he would admit that it looked like something a child had made. That was beside the point entirely! He swiped the brush across the painting. It didn't improve anything, but it wasn't damaged entirely. He could salvage it... and it wasn't like he was an artist or anything.
He grinned. "See, that sounds like fun! There's a story t it! If they bought something from the store, they would just be able to say that they liked it. And they'll probably even like it too! That's what parents do!" Spencer said with a bit of a grin.
Tumblr media
"The more I think about it, the more I worry about what my parents would do with it." She admits, matching his small laugh. With a smile, she turns back to her painting, attempting to wash out a little of the brown in her supposedly sunny sky with a little water. Soon after, she's looking at a very rainy day over yonder. Maybe a little more blue can fix it. If not, perhaps it'll just have to be a shittier day in this landscape's lifetime than she initially intended. ( It feels a little like a metaphor or something, but she tries to ignore that train of thought. )
"They'd probably display it somewhere guests are guaranteed to see it so they can tell everyone I painted it and have a good laugh when they say 'Oh, when she was little?' and they get to tell them I was twenty-eight and a little tipsy." That seems like their brand of humour — and her dad's love, as most dad's do, for embarrassing her.

"I don't know! People grow apart!" He was glad that hadn't happened to them. There had been so much time in their lives and there were moments where the two of them didn't speak much. They didn't last clearly, because here they were. Did that mean something? Maybe it meant their friendship was something special. Maybe it meant something else (or maybe that was just him.) "But you're never getting rid of me."
If there were problems, he supposed that he would be there to help her. Where else was he going to be? He sat down and scooped up some of the food onto his plate. He grinned. "Yeah, well. Didn't have plans today and you know... the whole dropping it for you thing."
Tumblr media
"I would never," Kassandra gasped slightly before a small smile broke through her facade. She never had a good poker face, especially not for long. It wasn't that she wasn't a good liar, but she had known Spencer for so long that she believed he could see right through most of her walls, or at least knew when something was up. "I do actually enjoy your company, you know. I hope that has been made quite apparent throughout the years."
She was grateful that he was familiar with her space and knew how to set things up. "Well, I haven't really done a thorough sweep through everything in a while so that was the most immediate one I could pinpoint," she replied as she packed some food onto a plate and scooped up two bowls of rice for them. Family style was typically how she liked to do meals--it reminded her of home and family. "I appreciate that you were able to come by so quickly too. And, dinner's served!"

Of course he wasn't going to do it again! There was only so much that a person could screw up in life before they learned their lesson. Gio had more than learned his lesson. He shook his head. "It was a little after. I mean, I guess I was pushy or something. I wasn't the most... open to conversation. Oliver left. That's it. That's everything that happened." And was he going to see them again? He wasn't so sure about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bianca sighed and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Gio I'm not mad at you. I need you to know this okay? There's very little you could do in your life that would make me actually mad at you." Now that didn't mean that she didn't think he was stupid in the past. "But it's good that you're mad at yourself, that means you aren't going to do this shit again." She considered the situation as Gio had presented it. "Okay I can see why he would ask it but also that it's kind of not fair." Even if she knew she was likely to ask the same thing to her ex if she ever saw him again. "Was it like right off the bat or when emotions were already high?"
