Last week, I started my first day as a full vegan, on Monday, October 23, 2017. Let me tell you…that first day was rough. To get as used to this lifestyle as possible, I decided to start with a 30-day raw vegan fast. I did no research on it, just jumped in full steam ahead, with a raw vegan breakfast and lunch pre-made the night before:
Day 1 Breakfast: Fruit and nut bowl with a blueberry smoothie.
Veggie and nut bowl consisting of avocados, carrots, beets, olives, cashews, and walnuts.
I mention that I didn’t research, because I definitely should have researched the effects of suddenly following a raw vegan diet. If I had, I would have been prepared for that first day occurrence that is common for a lot of people who do this: withdrawal like symptoms as your body detoxes.
Man! After I ate breakfast, then quickly rushed to lunch time (because of an inexplicable hunger), I experienced a round of migraines, dizziness, and hunger pains. I almost quit by the afternoon that Monday, but after reading up on the symptoms, I realized they would eventually pass.
Since then, I’ve gotten used to eating raw vegan and I can feel the difference in my body. I feel lighter and more, um…regular, which makes me feel really detoxed.
