pirates of the caribbean but when elizabeth steals the aztec gold piece from will as a child, it activates The Curse and she grows up a little part-time zombie child. what if she sees the cursed pirates when the pearl raids port royal and she goes to the ship willingly to try to figure out why she's Like That. idk how else this would affect the story though.

The claim of “Captain Jack Sparrow wasn’t the main character of ‘Curse of the Black Pearl’” is a weird and one third wrong. You watch the film and see this one singular character so integral to the plot and driving the story along and you don’t think he’s a main character? Captain Jack’s as much of a main character as Will and Elizabeth are Because all three are Co-Leads through-out Verbinski’s Trilogy (also Jack was only terrible in 5 because he was written by a terrible writer who didn’t care)

Foaming at the mouth rn about how Davy Jones wasn’t cursed until after Calypso broke her promise. He was tasked by her to lock his heart away, spend ten years at sea, and bring her dead to the afterlife and he did that.
It’s not like he didn’t listen to her or something. He actually did what she asked of him. Because he was in love with the sea. He gave her his heart (literally) and locked it away with letters he wrote her to both prove he was being serious and to make sure he wouldn’t love anything else until they could meet again and he could have it back.
But Calypso didn’t meet him on land when those ten years were up, and so was unable to free him. I don’t think he really cared about that part too much, it was the fact that despite everything he’d just done for her, he was a human and she was the sea. And it didn’t matter what tasks he completed for her or how long he spent separating himself from the rest of humanity, he would always be a human, even though he had no heart. And where she went, he could not go.
That part was where the curse came from. Calypso never freed him from his psychopomp status, except now to get back at her he’s been holding her dead hostage in the Locker (like she’s been holding his heart/humanity) for about 200 years. The Locker is not the afterlife, that’s just where the dead get thrown in limbo because Jones refuses to see them all through. That’s why Tia Dalma/Calypso said Jack wasn’t actually dead, he was basically being held captive because he died at sea and that’s Davy’s jurisdiction. That’s why his curse couldn’t be lifted, because now he purposefully wasn’t completing his task. And at some point he played a part in binding Calypso to a human body so that he could hold her captive on land the way he felt she held him captive on the sea.
Also some food for thought: the only thing Calypso still had that she and Davy Jones shared was his heart-shaped locket.

Okay TV weddings are cute and all but name a more iconic wedding scene than Will and Elizabeth Turner’s cause they were literally married by the man who kidnapped the bride and killed the groom’s dad, WHILE killing sea creature-people things and while reciting their vows to each other and their witnesses along with the psychopathic officiant were two other previously undead freaks who tried to kill her the first time they met her and a fucking immortal monkey.
And don’t even get me started on the way he spun her like they were dancing. That. Was. Everything.
You can’t get weddings like those on sitcoms.

if they ever make another pirates of the caribbean, it should be about the flying dutchmen and her crew 200 years later. it’s a cursed ship with an undying crew that ferry lost souls. they ignore #4 in canon and will turner is still the captain, but because of the long years of service and the mortality of his family he’s jaded and tired. he hasn’t been using his one day on land for decades, and when he finally decided to go to port he’s like “what the actual fuck” bc it’s 1990 & there’s modern technology and cars and ppl assume he’s a street performer bc he’s dressed like a fucking pirate. the original cast is there as well bc reincarnation or something lmao

ok but why is the very idea of pirates of the Caribbean such a turn on like it makes me YEARN to be a woman with a pirate ship and a big silly hat and amazing boots but also to have Elizabeth Swann’s hair how do I tell the adult world I know what I want to be when I grow up but that kind of piracy (stylish adventure hair flowing kind) isn’t really accessible in this day and age

Hey, so, why didn't anybody tell me that The Price Of Freedom, the prequel book to Pirates Of The Caribbean, is not only more than 600 pages long, but is actually longer than Moby Dick?

Do you think if Davy Jones had tits, his tentacles would frame them and hold them up like a little showgirl costume piece or would he be a shy boy about them and hide em?
this is the most incredible question i've ever been asked in all my time on tumblr

thinking about how when elizabeth confronts beckett she says, “consider in your calculation that you robbed me,” not “of my wedding”, but “of my wedding NIGHT”. taking will to bed was really the first thing on her mind huh

We can say anything we want about the PotC franchise but the third movie has one of the best opening scenes of cinema history and no one can change my mind.
