the fact remains that body horror is an expression of intimacy. a grotesque and perverse one, maybe, but intimate nonetheless.

"Whatever might be happening, now or in the future, it doesn't change how I see you." "Doesn't it?" Qifrey's hand, before idly tracing patterns on his pants leg, tenses, balls into a fist and tugs at the fabric. "You're here to be a Watchful Eye. Not a nursemaid." "I'm here to be your partner." Apparently that doesn't go quite as without saying as he'd imagined. "You think very little of me if you assume this could break an entire life made together." Olruggio learns of the pain Qifrey has been enduring of late, but Qifrey won't concede to being helped quite so easily. (This fic is set pre-canon but does deal directly with the reveal in Volume 7/Chapter 40. Please be advised of spoilers!) content warnings are in the fic notes
Hello, friends! Woe, my new fandom be upon ye. Thanks to @excavatinglizard asking me how many times I thought Olruggio has realized Qifrey's secret, we now have This Fucking Thing in the world. Hurt/comfort, angst, the toxic yaoi all the kids are talking about. You're welcome.

It’s one of trauma’s funny tricks. It lurks in the wings until you’ve proven your strength by carrying everybody else through the performance, and just when you’re about to take your final bow—bam! Kicks you right off the stage.

i've never had a character that makes me so I-support-womens-wrongs as Shen NuclearCrotchFloss. she sucks. she's my wife. I hate her. She's a narc. She's a victim of a predatory music industry. she is an agent of the predatory music industry. she's a girlboss. she genuinely cares about her band. she cut the brake lines of the meat droids' van. she calls Beeps babygirl. She is obsessed with obtaining ancient evil power so she can send her manager to space hell. I have to die

Frankly some of you should be hornier over weirder shit. The fear of being too genuine is the enemy of art. Be a bit of a pervert. It's good for the health. Doesn't have to be a sexual thing just own up to being a bit obsessed in some cringe shit it's fine.

Time to be fucking sad. Vash talks to God exactly once in Trimax (as of the end of vol 10 at least). Like he goes into church once, laments about how he thinks he is unforgivable, but that's musing to himself. He's not actually talking to God or praying.
No, Vash talks to God exactly once, to ask for the only thing he ever requests. The only thing he wants, and the possibly the only thing he allows himself to want. And of course by the time he allows it, it's entirely too late.
Vash talks to God to ask for exactly one thing. To save Wolfwood, to let him live. So they can share their tomorrows. And by the time Vash lets himself ask for this one thing, he already knows how futile it is. Sitting next to his best friend, probably the only person who can come close to understanding him, he talks to God for the first time. And God does not answer.

Far worse, in my opinion, than the famous “he wouldn’t fucking say that” is “he WOULD fucking say that, as part of his facade, but you seem to think he would mean it genuinely”

Wedge: Here’s the truth: I kill the enemy so someone, somewhere - probably someone I’ve never met and never will meet - will be happy.
Cheriss: That doesn’t make sense.
Wedge: Yes, it does. I told you how I lost my parents. Nothing I ever do can make up for that loss. But if I put myself in the way of people just as bad as the ones who killed my family, if I burn them down, then someone else they would have hurt gets to stay happy. That’s the only honorable thing about my profession. It’s not the killing. It’s making the galaxy a little better.
