“uh…i don’t think so. maybe specifically on valentine’s day?” frankly she’s just thinking about that one episode of the office. “you’re cheating at life by being pretty and rich!” so there! “they seem to think that.” surely some of louis’s co-workers are super annoying and undeserving of his radiant presence. “a lot of them are introverts, so you might actually be the one steering the conversation. i think he eats alone a lot of the time, though.” she tries not to frown but the idea of her boyfriend eating alone makes her sad! jas highly doubts they’ll eat together every day, because that sounds like a lot, but it’ll be easier to ensure he has someone to talk to during breaks now that she won’t be an hour away. “yeah, i think so! you can absolutely have my pillow…but i don’t think you need to make one of me.” a louis boyfriend pillow is one thing but she is much more creeped out by the idea of one with her face on it. “for real,” she repeats, giving it a moment of consideration. “i’d say a strong seven out of ten. maybe an eight. facetime and regular visits helped a lot, but it’s not the same. i miss him the second he leaves the room, even when i know he’ll be back in five minutes.” she’s relieved they didn’t accidentally bump heads. “i want to say like fifteen?”

“ that doesn’t sound too romantic. oh well! guess we’ll just have to pay full price. ” if there were more hours in the day, well, they still probably wouldn’t find time to squeeze in a trip to a fancy salon. “ aww, you think i’m pretty? ” he smiles because jas is right: he is pretty and rich! “ wait, but so are you. and you’re white! ” so she’s extra cheating. “ did you know, until like last year, i thought being an introvert just meant you have an innie. that sounds sad, though. is he getting bullied or something? ” scott frowns pretty quickly at the image of louis eating lunch by himself, mostly because he imagines louis in a corner whilst all the introverts sit on a big table, introverting together. “ admit it, it’d be kinda funny. but hey, i’ll be super busy, being a final year and all, so i’ll try make time for you. ” he grins, as if he won’t be waiting for them by the gate. “ oh shit, that’s a solid pass. ” which sounds scary, but he reminds himself that unlike his exams this is something he feels confident in. “ when i think about not seeing luce every day, it’s just weird. makes my stomach feel funny. ” he shakes his head. “ no odd numbers, please. let’s bump it up to friendship level twenty. ”

scott props his elbows up on the bar, holding his head up with his hands as he watches satomi make their drinks. a smile pokes at his cheeks -- anyone could tell he’s in awe. sometimes they make things look really easy, other times impossible, but whatever it is they always look super cool. “ no such thing as too late -- i could hide you in my room! ” he accepts the drink from them, swirling it in his hand as if it’s a wine glass in an attempt to match their cool. “ woah, this is pretty. i don’t think i’ve had an aviation before. where’s your drink? let’s make a toast. ”

                              she kisses him back and then adds one of her own, then another one, stars in her eyes because she’s never known anyone better. luce feels invincible, and she’s about to put it to the test. there’s a gulping inhale, like she’s just sprinted across the airport before his flight boards to tell him, her own twisted confession of love and — - ‘   i am too. but it’s okay. because we can do anything we want, and, you know, like, beyonce’s here, and i love you so,   ’ she smiles through another inhale, ‘   who cares.    ’ she reluctantly wiggles out of his grasp, sharpie in hand, snakes around him to find a spot on his back to write what could be found in the stall of a bathroom, no parting words in sight. LUCE FREAR HAS A CRUSH ON SCOTT RILEY with a little doodle of a cat beside it. 

he offers up a laugh -- the kind of laugh he wishes he’d heard since he’s been telling the same joke all night -- but it’s heartier because it’s funnier coming from her. “ good one. ” the laugh continues to roll off his lips, excitement bubbling form his chest as he feels the pen press into his back and he tries his best to keep his shoulders still. “ has that actually worked on anyone? no one believes me. even when i tell them i’m gonna be the first man on the moon. ” he spins around to face her, rushing to take his jacket off. “ aww, you have a crush on me? ” he smiles at the message in the same way he does whenever he holds his furby in his hands and waits for it to tell him his fly is down. “ i have a crush on you too. ” another kiss.

“to be fair, i have enough tissues for the both of us,” mari informs him, “and jo brought even more that she has stashed away somewhere.” she has no problem sharing. it’s also inevitable that she’ll cry again. “it’ll be our next project since i won’t be around to force you to study all the time.” she’s going to miss him, a lot. “then the four of us can just do shots for fun,” she offers up. she also hopes they don’t remember every reason they had to drink while attending. “we hopefully won’t have to wait fifteen years for a double date, though.” she can fix scott not being jo’s favorite person. jo doesn’t often tell her no, and if she just reminds her how important he is to mari then she’ll at least try. she gasps when he does a fake-out, chasing after him in the direction of her dorm with laughter ringing from her lips. she can surely keep up, even in heels. “you know, if you were scared of losing, you can just tell me. you don’t have to cheat.” besides, she has the keys. he’s going to lose no matter what.

“ jo brought tissues? ” that knits his brows together because jo didn’t seem like a crier or the type to carry tissues in case people start crying. “ yeah, but i also learned a lot from you this year, so hopefully i won’t need anyone forcing me to study next year. ” this is wishful thinking but he is in a better position than he was last year thanks to mari. “ you and jo probably won’t be able to keep up with us. especially luce. you can’t beat irish blood, ” he teases with a boyish grin. except luce doesn’t like guiness so maybe the irish blood is not strong with this one. “ oooh, do you think we’ll be able to cut it down to fifteen months? or maybe weeks? ” he hopes she agrees to fifteen weeks since he doesn’t really like to think further than that, even though he doesn’t know how many months that is. they probably look like maniacs, running and laughing like that out of the room, and he doesn’t even care about beating her really. “ sorry, i can’t hear you over the sound of me usain bolt-ing! ”

he tries not to laugh at the face she’s pulling but also this is killing him. “ no, you don’t have any lipstick on your teeth, ” he says, as if that was really hard for him to admit. “ and answer my question! ”
