I mean Cas's baseline state is ignoring what anyone wants him to do imo. It's just when he ignores what most people want him to do, he makes this face: 🙄

Cas flies off to kill Jesse when Dean and Sam are in direct moral opposition. (5.06)

ANNA: I'd say the Winchesters don't trust me. / CASTIEL: They do. I don't. I wouldn't let them come. (5.13)

You're not gonna finish that? [Takes Dean's burger without waiting for an answer] (5.14)

[Kidnaps Dean and locks him up] (5.18)

"Maybe they're desperate. Maybe they wrongly assumed Dean would be brave enough to withstand them." (5.18)

[Beats the shit out of Dean in an alley] "I rebelled for this?! So that you could surrender to them?" [kidnaps Dean and locks him up again] (5.18)

CASTIEL performs air quotes during this speech. ] Sam, Dean, my "people skills" are "rusty." Pardon me, but I have spent the last "year" as a multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent. But believe me, you do not want that weapon down here. Help me find it. Or more people will die.

[Flies away abruptly when Dean asks anything he doesn't want to answer] (6.03)

Cas tortures a child while Dean pleads with him not to do it (6.03).

[Yanks Dean's wrist over without asking and slices his palm open to use his blood for a spell] DEAN: Whoa, whoa! Hey! Ahh! Why don't you use your own? / CASTIEL: It wouldn't work. I'm not human.

[Flies away abruptly when Dean is mid-sentence] (6.06)

Cas ghosts Dean for days while Dean pleads for help in prayers (6.05-6.06)

Those are some moments of note up to my current rewatch episode.

The entire plot of season 6 where Cas is going behind their backs the whole time culminating in him refusing to let go of his plan while Dean pleads him to do just that.

Also: #hot girl cas. And anyway, if Cas decreases his bitchy basline tendencies to be bitchy around Dean and Dean only, and instead indulges him occasionally by doing things like dressing up like cowboys, we should be fond of this because the angel the size of a Chrysler building who has killed thousands lets Dean put him in little outfits to make him happy and there is something very cute about that.

Caring professions anon: Yeah I agree. I have zero issue with Sam wanting to quit hunting. Never have and never will. Sam is not obligated to be a hunter. Neither is Dean. Neither is anyone else. None of this has anything to do with caring professions because no one in the comments was asking Sam to go after Kevin personally. What we're talking about is basic human decency: If you see someone get kidnapped right in front of your face, you have an unquestionable moral obligation to pass that information on to someone who can help. That isn't "not being in a caring profession" vs "being in a caring profession". That's called "being a decent human being."

part of the reason it's so annoying is that while they're screaming about how insensitive and awful it is for you to not interpret the show the same way because it's a slap in the face to their personal trauma or whatever, they're completely ignoring the fact that you have your own experiences and possibly even trauma. it's just so egocentric and self-centered.

As long as we're demanding everyone else in the world take responsibility for our personal inner feelings and interpretations of fictional media... maybe samgirls should be more sensitive to ME, and realize that when they coddle Sam and call it a completely justified "mental health break" to knowingly and intentionally leave an asian teenager to be tortured for eternity, they essentially let me know with their whole chest that Asians are subhuman to them, and they'd leave my grandfather (and maybe me too!) to die like a dog in the street without so much as calling 911 if they were having a bad day.

Don't like being accused of racism? Don't like that I'm trying to hold you accountable for my own feelings you couldn't possibly have perceived from behind your keyboard across the internet? Don't think it's fair to mention a connection with Kevin's race that I am interpreting in a specific way? Then maybe you should stop holding everyone else responsible for the personal experiences you connect with fictional media and learn to control your own peace—whatever that requires for you—up to and including leaving Tumblr dot com.

As someone who criticizes opinions on fiction that I don't agree with all of the time, I am so serious about this: If you cannot handle the literal existence of opinions different from your own over Supernatural (2005) to the point that simply knowing people out there exist thinking different thoughts from you harms your mental health, you need to get off the internet. Absolutely no one on this website has an obligation to walk on egg shells around you from their own blogs to cater to your sensitivities—especially when you readily refuse to take accountability for the curation of your own online experience.
