I don't really disagree with this, but I'm certain that I could not be caught describing myself as a reasonable person, and one of the things into which I put a lot of effort is trying not to unknowingly be an asshole...

if you are a reasonable person who prefers the company of reasonable people, it is not easy for crazy assholes to threaten your relationships.

if someone actually said one of the crazy asshole things your brain offers up for you to worry about, they'd embarrass themselves, not you.

exceptions to these guidelines are usually avoidable for adults with a normal amount of freedom, and it is probably not wise to tolerate those exceptions if you struggle with social anxiety.

I'm in the process of (re)applying for a visa to my 'home' country since my old one was mistakenly thrown out, and I have to say... I thought the U.S. had some stupid processes for requesting official documents, but they are not so bad in comparison to my home country which requires, among other things, an online form on a website that apparently hasn't been updated since 2014 and a paper form that is very clearly a poor-quality photocopy with JPEG artefacts. Also, the online form marks some fields as required, and doesn't mark some others in the same manner, but in the appendix to the online instructions, it says that applications without the latter fields filled out will be rejected. Also, the same appendix says that if a question doesn't apply to the applicant, a box labelled 'not applicable' should be checked, and that if this box is checked, a written explanation must be added; however, there is nowhere on the form to write the explanation. The best part is that I have to submit the paper application at the consulate which is like five hours away by bus, so there is a serious possibility that I will spend ten hours on a round trip only to find that it was a waste of time because I misunderstood something on this confusing application. In conclusion, good luck to me, because I might need it.

Today on Why I Am An Idiot: I somehow managed to lock the door of my bedroom from the outside, and I don't have the key to that door. Also, my flatmate just left for the weekend after telling me to call/text if I needed anything, and my mobile phone is in my bedroom.

(It's fine; I'll sleep on the sofa and borrow someone's phone / find a public phone tomorrow, but... why am I so bad at life?)

Well, as of today I have been working at my current job for exactly one year. (Fittingly, I was originally scheduled off today but was then asked if I'd like to cover a shift, which I did.) Anyway, I have made too many drastic mistakes over the past year, but getting this job was not one of them. I'm very thankful to all my coworkers and managers for making me look forward to going to work each day :)

gotta say that one recording of les mis on west end from 06/14/2014 is basically my favorite and my comfort watch (i’ve opened it on youtube 14 times this month and actually rewatching it rn) and i feel like we’re not talking about it enough.

jean valjean is perfect there and i mean it in terms of both acting and singing daniel koek is unbelievable (i almost cried when he was singing with tiny cosette when he found her in the woods). javert is extremely angry and hisses all the time and honestly i’m always here for that. fantine is probably the best one i’ve ever seen in my life she portrays the character so beautifully. the thénardiers are literally so funny and their acting in the robbery is impeccable (i’ve rewatched the robbery more than any other part of the musical). enjolras is majestic and grantaire is fucking insanely good like you know how he is right? one moment he’s silly and goofy prankster putting his arms around enj and marius’ shoulders and then he’s literally grasping enjolras during drink with me with tears in his eyes and cracking voice. little cosette’s acting is SO GOOD AND ON POINT IT’S LITERALLY CRAZY??? marius and cosette for once don’t piss me off because they actually suit their roles perfectly and you really believe their acting when you see them. eponine is very edgy and sarcastic and also perfect. gavroche pats javert on a cheek during the barricade and i was speechless about how good his acting is in general. AND ALSO THE ENSEMBLE HELLO???? i always pay close attention to them and here they are doing such an amazing job, all of them (my personal fav is master of the house tbh i’m crazy about this song and scenography in this scene here is hilarious and amazing). i probably missed some details but only because fuuucking hell. fucking hell. please hear me out people this is probably the most important les mis recording in my life.
