Novel Details - Rupe’s seduction
While I see a lot of fans celebrating how fanservicey Ch 121 is, I wanted to point out that it’s actually a well-written plot point imo. To review, Lari chose to leave Rupe and her home, the palace, because after being traumatized by the endless regressions in her dreams, she’s convinced that there is no way on earth she can be with Rupert, there’s no way she can be with him even though he’s different, because she will always have that mental block that “he” killed her - and even if he didnt, she didn’t accept his feelings for her because she felt incredibly guilty for “tricking him and pretending to like him” all these years. So she cruelly and coldly rejected him, and ran away, hoping that he would hate and forget her and move on. She didn’t feel she deserved to be anywhere near him, and it would be better for the both of them to just move on and forget this whole thing. During the separation, she felt guilty for remembering and thinking of him often, but hoped he moved on already on to bigger and better things. of course, she didn’t know he still loved her deeply and was watching her from afar… she was under the impression that he probably forgot her already, because who would want to be with her, the person who so cruelly broke his heart and ruined his world? As we know, Rupert never stopped loving her at all. While he was overcome with hatred and anger, and wanted to kill her for a bit for hurting him so much, that feeling disappeared quickly and he wears left with yearning for her. He tried to forget about her, but it was futile - it was impossible to forget and move on. So he coped with just watching from afar, for at least a good half year. From his POV, with the limited information he had, he didn’t know that she left was to protect him, because she thought she was toxic and harmful to HIM. Nope, after he read her diary, he was convinced that she still hated and feared him, and would faint on the spot if he revealed his identity to her. After all - as a kid she oozed so much hatred and fear - she probably got better at hiding it. Even a few weeks before his coronation to Emperor, she admitted she was scared of him, of who he would become one he he became Emperor. But the key is that in Ch 119 and Ch 120, when he revealed himself to her, and he saw her expression - she gave him a look of relief, and even asked if he was doing well. That was the first spark of hope for him — Lari didnt hate him. She actually chased after him to confirm it was him too! The next time they met again she easily uncovered his disguised, and he had a chance to tell her that he liked her (in past tense!) because he still remembered her words in 111 that she didn’t want him to like/love her anymore. But after he gave her that unprompted confession, again he noted her intense blushing - Lari doesnt hate him!! She had been looking, waiting for him!
That’s when Rupe realized that he had been so stupid and arrogant this whole separation. He tried over and over to forget her, but he knows now it’s impossible. He tried to deny his feelings for her, but again, it’s impossible. Meeting her again like this as himself, he realized - and confirmed - that Lari did not hate him, she didn’t fear him, she was actually the same kind Lari as before, and he CRAVED her warmth and kindness again. His desire for her grew and bubbled: now, he admits he likes her ardently, and instead of hiding it like before, he accepts his feelings. Now that he know Lari doesn’t hate him - nothing is stopping him from trying to EARN her favor and her love either. This whole time he was preoccupied and worried that he’ll end up like the Crazy Emperor who didn’t accept that Eva hated him, and only possessed her, hatred and all. Instead, Rupert decided to earn Lari’s love, and will do anything, and wait as long as necessary until she starts liking him back. The only issue is.. Rupert has no idea how to make others like him. Eva had only taught him how to charm and seduce women to manipulate them, and he didn’t want to manipulate Lari. He wanted her to fall in love with him on her own, and CHOOSE to be with him. So he’s stuck. He thinks long and hard, and even consults Louis, who tells him to just use his good looks to win her over… which isn’t helpful because Lari already knows how good looking he is LOL. So the idiot Rupe, because he doesn’t know what else to do, opts to try a full-frontal seductive attack on Lari LOL. Unfortunately for him, Lari still doesn’t have the “appropriate” response. She’s still shy, she still blushes like mad when he’s shirtless, and even tells him to put his clothes back on hahaha. He reminds her that he’s handsome (while she mentally screams yes, he’s handsome), but when his ‘seduction’ fails and is seemingly ineffective, he stops it and just leaves after Lari seemed to worry more about Belois… :(

Details - Ch 121
To again give a reminder to readers, Rupe thought Lari hated/feared him this whole time, wanted nothing to do with him - but still, HE wants to be with her. So in Ch 120, he decides that given Lari's blushing and kindness towards him when he revealed his identity to her, he wants to be proactive and earn her love/trust. He won't force her affection, but he will EARN it. Rupert has been very careful with Lari's parting words in Ch 111: She doesn't want to see him ever again, she doesn't want him to love/like her, and she wants to leave the palace. He's already broken her request to never see her again, he recently chose to stop pretending to like her, and after witnessing her getting hurt by Fernando, forced her to come back to the palace.
He was so angry that she experienced getting hurt again, but he kept those fuming feelings in check when she woke up in the palace again, as consideration for her.
So while it WAS a little embarrassing for him to get up and close to her shortness and flaunting his attractiveness to her (manhwa original), he was upset that as usual, all he gets is a blushing Lari that didn't think positively of his good looks, and even telling him to go away and wear something. It doesn't help that she brings up her faither/family, and he's super annoyed because he thinks that Belois is still very precious to Lari (He doesn't know that Lari abandoned Belois as well, and only brought them up because she's afraid they'll attack Rupe, who's actually the precious one to her). So he leaves in a huff and doesn't see her for a few days.
A little detail, is that while he left in anger this time, he wasn't ignoring her for a few days because he hated her: he was afraid of her response.
As I mentioned above, he had forcefully brought her back to the palace while she was unconscious, without her consent, and our poor Rupe doesn't have the internal strength to face a Lari that hates him. So he intentionally avoids her during waking hours, and visits every day during the time she's asleep (Lari: whats the point of vising an unconscious person??). So Lari may think he's avoiding her because he's angry (and she's upset because she doesn't want him to be angry towards her and avoid her lol), but it's actually a combination of Rupert being angry + scared of talking to her and hearing her reject him again :(
This messiness should clear up in about 2 chapters, so the happiness will happen soon ~~~!

Details - Ch 121
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The intro to Ch 121 is absolutely amazing. In the novel, it was originally split into two scenes: When Lari was passing out along in the dark from Fernando's poison (Lari POV), she whispered his name out when she was trapped in her nightmares again. When Rupert was looking for her, and found her passed out (Fernando had left), at some point as he held her he heard her call him offscreen. (Rupe POV) Here, the manhwa combined the scenes into one cohesive moment: After catching Fernando in the act of wanting to assault Lari, he bashed his head in before going to Lari and catching her as she fell and lost consciousness. Even though Rupe knew he shouldn't, in the moonlight, just them, he at least allowed himself to gently hug her, glad that she was in his arms and safe, and was determined to bring her back to the palace because it simply isn't safe in the outside, and he can't handle having her be in danger again. But to his surprise - she whispered out his name - then lost consciousness.
I LOVE Rupe's expression as he lifted his head: Remember, for this whole time, Rupe thought she hated and feared him, and only just recently learned that she didn't hate/fear him as much as he thought. The way she blushed at his confession, the way she chased after him - he started thinking that maybe, Lari still cares for him somewhat? he has hope? So that's why in the next scene, he asks her his burning question: Why did she call his name out? Rupert is a very careful guy and doesn't usually make assumptions, but there's hope bubbling in him, that there's a chance Lari could like him?!
But in the meantime, in the cellar, after she calls his name and he looks at her in a complicated expression of surprise, he gently hugs her again as he says "yeah" in response - that yes, he, Rupert, is here with her right now ;___;

Thoughts
Despite being a novel purist, I am LOVING the manhwa original changes so far since the start of S4. Yes, the manhwa team has made some questionable omissions, but one has to keep in mind that this this is the manhwa ADAPTATION, and so they, I admit, have been fairly consistent in their characterization of the characters, as well as the changes they have made so far. For example, both RupeLali have so much more personality in the manhwa. Novel Lari did have personality, but she was much more quiet/polite. I sometimes nickname manhwa Lari as "bubblari" because she's just so cute and funny, with her weird exaggerated quirks. Novel Rupe is very serious and quiet, while manhwa Rupe has many more fun/cute moments, especially his funny faces when he squabbles with Lari. Both of them are so much more expressive in the manhwa - like you REALLY had to read in between the lines to figure out that Lari liked Rupe, that she missed him, while the manhwa just makes it so obvious that without a doubt, she does have feelings for him, even if she's in denial. I LOVE how they changed it from "Rupe walked away quietly and Lari followed him" to "RUPE RAN AWAY from Lari" and "RUPE RAN AWAY AND LARI CHASED AFTER HIM TWICE". To me, that speaks volumes about Lari feels about him - she NEEDS to quell the doubts in her heart that black bread guy is Rupe, and that tells the reader that yes, she DOES have feelings for him, and misses him terribly as well. Some readers complain how toxic Lari is for leaving rupe all alone, for being so cruel in the breakup when he did nothing wrong - I love how Ch 120 handled that: she's been kidnapped, she's being beaten up to the point where she can't think or sit up straight, can't call for help anymore, but the only thing on her mind is how she's wanted to apologize to Rupe, for all the hurt she's caused him, she knows she doesn't deserve to say sorry, but IF THEY EVER MEET AGAIN, she still wants to... Like, our poor Lari has been suffering as well, not just Rupe. Just like how Rupe ran away because he wasn't ready to face her as black bread guy, Lari also ran away because she wasn't ready to face him either. Both are hurting, and after a year, Rupe is the one who finally realizes he can take the first step in the relationship because when he confessed to her again, he saw her response: his words reached her, and she was blushing soooo furiously!! That means, she doesn't hate him!! or fear him!! but rather, she asked if he was ok, and still worried about his well being... that gives him all the strength and confidence to talk to her again, and to show his sincerity to her again, except this time, knowing and accepting his feelings and hopefully Lari will accept them this time. <3 I do think it's a bit mean of the manhwa team to have Lari beaten up AGAIN, but it's a great way to up the stakes and to justify Rupe bringing her back to the palace - he literally saw her getting beaten to the point where she lost consciousness, couldn't speak, and who knows what else the pervert would have done to her... as he says, he didn't let her leave to be exposed to such danger, and he'll risk her resentment as long as she's safe by his side for now.

Chapter 120 Summary
“I liked you”. At Rupe’s confession, and soft smile, Lari is beet red and runs off, awkward, telling him to have a safe trip home.
Rupe watches her leave, and thinks to himself that he didn’t care for his happiness, but he wanted to obtain it because that’s what Lari wanted. But before he could find it, she already left, and since then he’s been feeling as if he’s been hit/hurting daily. He looks at his hand that she had grabbed when she pulled him earlier, and recalls her kindness - that he had gotten a taste of, but she completely took away. He tried to give up on her, but it’s impossible. He recalls her blushing expression again and decided it was arrogant for him to have even tried to forget. He decides that now, if she wont come to him, he’ll just come to her. It’s an easy decision, yet it took him a year to figure that out.
—-
Shortly after, lari is at home. Lehan had sent a LOVE LETTER and gifts to lari, saying he’d be away for a while for work. She ignores it and prepares to go out to work at her governess job, but finds Fernando at her doorstep wanting to apologize. Not wanting to make a scene when he kneels for forgiveness, she tries to get him to stand but in that moment he suffocates her with a handkerchief and she passes out while resisting.
Meanwhile at the palace, Duke Arnbach is trying to appeal to Rupe and makes a tactical retreat. Rupe isn’t impressed and is like “ok cool” and doesnt have much of a response as he accept’s Arnbach knights/funds, because he has more important things to do like go to where Lari is
He had an unsettling feeling.. and was right. Lari’s completely missing from her usual places, and he’s freaking out. He hears a weird sound from a basement, and investigates,
In the basement, Lari was tied and thrown onto the floor. The Psycho baker is trying to get Lari to agree to be his wife, but she strongly declines. He mocks her saying how she’s alone and she agrees - she’s absolutely alone. Shamefully, she can’t help but think of Rupert. As she bites Fernando when he tries to grab her, his anger flares and he violently beats her up all over until she can’t think straight. Despite this, Lari’s thoughts are only about Rupe - she can’t help but think about how he doesn’t deserve her, especially since she knew what his feelings were towards her. Despite this, she still ruined his life… she knows… but she wants a chance, that if they were to ever meet again, she wanted to apologize for the hurt she caused him (for rejecting his sincere feelings). She knew she was selfish, she gave him a lot of trouble.. she’s sorry. After a prolonged period of beating her up, Fernando grabs her shirt and lifts her up again to continue the assault, but then Rupert enters, saying that he didn’t let her go for something like this. Lari “sees” him, but she’s all beat up and her eyes are unfocused. Fernando says some intelligible things. Rupe continues, saying how she’s been in several situations like this, but this is the angriest he’s ever been, as he grabs Fernando’s head and bashes it against the wall, knocking him out. He’s made a lot of exceptions for Lari, but this isn’t one of them. Lari is still looking at him in a daze, but then slumps forward, unconscious as he catches her. The chapter ends with Rupe saying that she can blame him, hate him all she wants, but she’ll do so next to him from now on. :(

I really love how her trauma wasn't forgotten or brushed aside for the romance. It's a constant looming thing. And it changes her into a "bad" person. On paper faking liking someone to gain something sounds bad but with the context given we know why she does it.
Yes! Her ongoing trauma is always on the backburner of the first half of the series, until it explodes at the end of S3. We're meant to feel bad for her, but also be aware that she's caused Rupert so much hurt in the process, and she made even more bad decisions because she was cowardly and wanted to run away from everything. But that's how Lari was developed as a character - she's scared, lonely, and thought she had no one to rely on or talk to about issues like this. So OF COURSE she makes selfish and cruel mistakes and hurts others with those poor decisions... but the good thing is, Rupe is understanding to her situation, why she did what she did, and is more than ready to forgive her and work together to clear up any misunderstandings or issues between them. In the end, it's a story about mutual growth, healing, finding your found family, and finding your own happiness despite all the mistakes and setbacks experienced in life :)

Timeline of the Separation
I don't remember if I typed this before, but here it is again: January/February "winter" - When Lari left. Probably sometime in Jan or Feb. Still cold out, but no snow at the time. March/April/May/June "Lari has been there for more than a season" - It took some time for Lari to settle in, and find a governess job for the villager kid. She's been teaching them for a few months when she is offered the bakery job with Fernando. She works a few days a week at each job. It took Lehan a few months to figure out her location, and shortly after requested to become one of Rupert's knights as a way to atone for his betrayal. That means Rupert spent 2-3 months completely in the dark, before he found out about her diary, and then became MORE miserable. Poor guy. He easily allows Lehan to visit her... because then he could track him and eventually her (implied haha. Lari wonders why Rupert would allow him to take time off easily... was Lehan sucking up to him too? nope... its because he can see her through Lehan ^^) He then spends the next "few months" watching over her from afar, until Lehan catches him in the act in Ch 116. Lehan catches him stalking AGAIN in Ch 117, which is a few weeks later (lol). By this time, it's "Summer". June/July/August "Summer" - My personal headcanon is Rupert's birthday is in August, but it might as well be June or July. The summer months is when Ch 117 takes place. After Rupert feels safe being around her, and not losing control, he visits her almost every other day for a few weeks (which literally could range from 3 weeks to say 8 weeks or something). But it doesn't take long before he does end up hugging her, freaking himself out because there is no way he can keep his hands to himself in self restraint if she's that close to him, so he stops going in person and returns to stalking from afar ^^;. September/October/November "Autumn" - Lari thinks how she Summer and Autumn have passed, and she had no chance to celebrate Rupert's birthday. As the weather chilled, so did her heart :(. November/December/January ish "Winter" - As the weather got chilly, Lari meets Rupert again at the Market square and uncovers his identity. THey part awkwardly, but Rupert finds hope in rekindling their relationship, but continues to watch from afar. She stumbles upon him a few times, and it's pretty obvious she still has feelings for him too, but tries to hide/deny it. This goes on for a few more weeks until Fernando tramples on Lari's good faith and tricks her, causing her to get kidnapped :(. But of course Rupert anticipated that and is able to find her quickly :) "A Year had passed". Still in "Winter", Lari returns to the palace, and comments that she's returned after a year, Louis mentioned it's been a year, Lari commenting that once again she returns to see the flower buds getting ready to prepare to bloom in the spring...

Rupert's simpery - start of S4
As a follow up to this:
So in the first few months while he was SUPER PISSED and hated her for leaving him, him denying he missed her, that anger pretty much disappeared when he read the remnants of her diary - he still feel wronged, of course, but he knows now she had a reason for all of that and he feels empathy for Lari - he then thinks about how much she must have suffered in the palace during her time with him all these years (novel details of Ch 115). But what I absolutely love, that I hope they portray somehow in the manhwa (probably the start of S4) is Rupert's POV, which shows us Rupert that has accepted his feelings for her. So we already have Lari's POV of the bakery scene with "black bread guy", but in these chapters we should be seeing Rupert's POV, and it is absolutely delicious.
Basically in Rupert's POV of Chapter 117:
Tumblr media
He misses her like crazy, and copes by watching from afar because he's afraid she'll hate and faint at the sight of him if she were to see him. He's glad she works at places with a large window, so he can see her more clearly. This makes him feel a little less miserable.
Tumblr media
This particular day, after lehan caught him again, he couldn't help it - his feet and brain worked separately, and he just automatically concealed his identity with alchemy (in the manhwa, stole/borrowed lehan's uniform apparently (?) lol.) But when he was at the bakery door, he couldn't build the strength to actually enter, and his heart was thumping rapidly in anticipation. DOKI DOKI DOKI, so lehan ended up opening the door and entering first. Rupert's feeling stuck because he was scared he couldn't properly hold in his feelings/desires once he was up close to her. HE REALLY WANTED TO GRAB ON TO HER AND HOLD HER TIGHT. Poor guy is afraid of him losing control and simply hugging her.
Tumblr media
When she acknowledged him, his thoughts were all about how she lost weight, how she's a little taller, her hair a little longer - she must have struggled since she left, but she was still so damn lovely. He wanted to touch her cheek/neck so much. But he settled for a kiss on the back of her hand instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though it was a very simple, straightforward kiss, Lari still felt the intensity of his feelings - they were clearly portrayed to her, and she didn't quite understand. It wasn't like it at the debutante when other men out of courtesy kissed it... it was different... just like Rupert's kiss during the debutante.
Tumblr media
He cheers up a bit - he had denied it so much, but he absolutely misses her. He finally acknowledges it completely. He missed her large brown eyes, blushing cheeks when embarrassed, and even how her nose scrunched a bit when she laughs. She's the same as ever.
Tumblr media
After that day, he started visiting almost every other day to buy the dry, tasteless black break (because he hated "soft white things" cough). Over time, he gained the courage to chat with Lari - but he held himself back from talking and getting too close. He just sat there in silence, sipping tea and eating the bread - which tasted sweet whenever she was around - and just enjoying her presence. His fear of being exposed and scaring her lessened over time, and he gradually relaxed around her as well. He allowed himself to at least make small talk with her, who was trying to be nice and chat with him as well. Whenever she stopped at his table to offer some butter or a baked good, he found it difficult to breathe - he could catch her fresh, grassy scent, and her smile was so dazzling. He endured so much to keep himself from getting closer ---! and then he accidentally grabs her in the start of S4 when she stumbles ^^

Update: Hayeon-nim's bday
Thanks to those who participated in sending a nice message and fanart for Hayeonnim's birthday. She seemed really surprised and happy that she received gifts and well-wishes this year too. She mentions that her holiday break period is over, so she's diligently back at work drawing, and putting her efforts into making the art as pretty as possible for us fans. She tells us to wait a bit more ..! Otherwise, we helped make her birthday a bit happier. Thanks everyone again who participated and making one of your favorite manhwa artist's day just a bit happier :) -- As for the next 'event', the manhwa author, Hyeyong-nim's birthday is in July. If I have time, I'll try to organize a small event again. But the big big event will be for the Season 4 end... when it ends ><

Lari’s preferences
It takes Lari forever to admit that she likes Rupert, but it’s unintentionally funny how she reacts to “Black bread” guy and how easily she warms up to him. While she’s annoyed at, and doesn’t welcome Lehan, she’s nice enough to the “unnamed junior” who accompanied him to the bakery. This unnamed junior, whom she nicknames “black bread” because he only buys black bread to eat, doesnt really converse much and just shows up to buy bread, and sometimes sits in the corner eating that bread. He shows up every other day just to buy bread. All Lari knows of him is that he’s probably not a villager from this town, is a former knight, doesn’t like soft, white bread, and is rather rude and condescending, and doesn’t like to talk much. He just sits there in silence most of the time, which she reasons is just his personality (lol).
But after a few weeks of almost daily interactions, she warms up to him and considers him a regular customer, almost a friend. He’s nothing special - she wouldn’t call him handsome - but he does have a hair color that reminds her of Rupert’s. What she finds unsettling, is for some reason, Black Bread guy reminds her of SOMEONE… but she can’t place her finger on it. They’ve only met recently, yet he’s so cold… he reminds her of SOMEONE… It’s interesting to note that when the Black Bread guy accidentally hugs her tight, she was angry and confused for a second, but quickly relaxed and comforted him because she sensed he had his own struggles, and simply told him to not do it again - and that was their last encounter for a while. Surprisingly, she did miss him - her regular customer - and wondered often how he’s doing, if he’s doing well.
The thing is, is that Lari is very conservative and she hates it when others touch her without permission, or when they get too close friend-wise. Yet Black Bread guy is fine to her. That makes me think…. Despite complaining that Rupert has a personality issue with being cold and condescending and rude… is that her kink/preference? Cold and condescending guys like Rupert? Because that’s all she knew about Black Bread guy, and she’s comfortable enough around him…. Or maybe that certain personality trait, that defines Rupert, is what made Black Bread guy *interesting* to her because he reminded her of Rupert?
Again, Lari is a ways off of admitting her feelings for Rupert, but this is just another one of those details that show us she really does like him, but takes forever to realize it. ^^

(Details) Rupert during the separation
So while I do say that overall, Rupert never stopped loving Lari - there’s a nuance to that: he actually kept on cycling through various feelings, including hatred for her for some time.
Rupert has every right to be pissed off at Lari for what she did to him:
He’s upset that she never truly believed in him and his words that he would cherish and protect her from anything. On her birthday he had told her he would cherish her as much as he does for his own life, and on that balcony at the debutante, he clearly told her he’d protect her - yet she still distrusted him
He’s angry she chose to die and keeping everything to herself - why did she never talk to him about that?
He’s angry because she’s so reckless with her own life, in how she thought that HE would let her die so easily??
He was upset that maybe she tried to die because she hated him - he thought he was pretty clear on how important she was to him - she MUST have planned it out because she knew how important she was to him, and that’s the best way to hurt him - through her.
Keep in mind, Rupert’s mind is going in circles to try to figure out WHY Lari tried to die, and why she ended up running away. She basically offered no sort of information or explanation at all. He had thought they got along well, things were comfortable… he thought she had stopped hating/fearing him years ago, but maybe he was wrong, and she still did??? He’s completely in the dark. He’s also PISSED how he so easily fell for her/her capturing his heart completely like that. He thought she was innocent, but she completely manipulated him with that innocence (basically he’s blaming Lari for being so lovable that he he ended up falling in love with her ^^;). He KNEW she didn’t have any special feelings for him, yet he he still felt so strongly for her anyways with his unrequited love. After she left, he felt completely abandoned. Like she wished for, he tried to forget her and move on. After all, she completely broke his heart and ruined his world, so it’s time for him to move on and forget too. Rupert actually tried to forget her. He says he doesn’t like her anymore, that he hates soft/white things…. But in the end, he couldnt get rid of his feelings for her. He’s miserable because he can’t forget her and move on. He’s upset for himself as well, because he WANTED to forget her, move on, and get on his life. He SHOULD be able to coldly and indifferently move on like with everything else in life, but he’s always stuck when it comes to her. He misses her so much that he can’t eat, sleep, or properly live day-to-day life. Things actually worsen a bit after he finds out her regression, because that provides more questions than answers - and he definitely can’t move on because he has to confirm what he learned with her - but there’s no good way to do so right now. He goes back and forth in his mind all the time: he wants to move on, but he can’t, he wants to talk to her and get close again, but he’s so afraid of her seeing him and disappearing again that he’s just stuck.
So in the end, after endless turmoil of being angry with her, hating her, being upset with her…. Eventually he understands that he just misses her and wants to talk to her again ;___;. And that he’s just happy enough being able to see her from afar, and to see her happy and healthy enough.

Novel Detai: Rupert DID want to kill Lari in TL2
That sounds so bad, but hear me out: So while her name WAS on the hit list in Ch 45 as ppl to eliminate (he decided early on he wouldnt), and when he pointed the gun to her in Ch 32 (he only intended to scare her; that worked because he gained +10 hatred and fear from Lari), after she tried to die, he WAS upset and emotional enough that he DID consider killing her/getting rid of her because he hated her that much.
During those days when she was unconscious, trapped in her dreams, Rupert was at the end of his wits. He went back and forth, thinking if he should let her die, or try to save her, and he always chose to save her. It was so bad to the point where he was stuck in the room, because he was so scared the moment he left would be the moment she died alone… He even had thoughts of turning her into an alchemical doll if he WERE to die, but he could never go through it, because he knew, that if he were to do so, she would never laugh and smile at him again, she wouldn’t ever comment on how pretty wildflowers were. He was shocked at how he could see her life like that, she was the only one whom he felt he had to FORCE her to stay alive…. But… that’s not what she wanted, so good thing he didn’t have to. While she was asleep, he felt so upset, angry and helpless, that he even thought about killing her first because she’s the one who made him this emotional. If he didn’t know her, he wouldn’t have learned emotions, and he wouldn’t have felt this horrendous. He HATED how he was so easily was wrapped around her finger that while she was unconscious, his own time was stopped. He’s miserable, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t perform his duties as the new Emperor. He wanted to kill her for manipulating his feelings like that, pretending to be so innocently lovely, but had the capacity to try to kill herself. She’s the ONLY ONE who said that she would remain by his side, who supported him endlessly and cared for him, but she chose to die?? How incredibly selfish?? He trusted her so much, and told her how important she was to him, yet she didnt return those sentiments?? For the first time ever, he felt as though he was shoved from a warm place (being with her) to being naked out in the cold, alone, lost (without her). It’s not to be taken lightly how he felt during the separation - his heart was literally shattered and it took a while to figure out how to cope. So that’s how Rupert felt during the peak of his emotional turmoil when Lari tried to die - he hated her so much he wanted to kill and get rid of her, but ultimately, no matter the thought process, he always chose to stay close and protect her ;__;

Is there any details of the god of Volgorwad's temple in the novel? the name of the god was never mentioned in the manhwa or mentioned what kind of god is it either
Nope. Both RupeLali don't really believe in God. The Vellnelni Empire does have a holy city, St Volgorwad, where there is a temple that houses the the archives of the law and holy scriptures, but the belief in god/the gods aren't very strong in their society, so their religious authority power is very much diminished. The implication that here, the law/religion is somewhat related - so in the current society that is corrupt, religion is at an all-time low as the people don't have faith in them to help them out. Rupert doesn't believe in God at all (To Lari, he's the most blasphemous person hahaha). Lari herself only thinks of God whenever she thinks of her twisted fate/reason why she regressed - what does God/the world want from her? What is she to do in TL2? After she and Rupert rise to power, in order for Lari to properly train in the Law to become a High Court Judge and use the Temple's resources for that, they do end up sponsoring and donating to the temple's funds and helping them out. But otherwise, their society celebrates a nameless god. They do exist, but the story's theme is to promote individuality/freedom/choices made by a person, and "overcoming fate", NOT having something happen because it was "destined to be".
