1. Announcements

The weekly Bun & Waffle Assemblies (BWA) have begun. Student House B is open from 12 to 18 on Monday the 1st of February and there are plenty of cheap (1€) cinnamon rolls and waffles waiting to be eaten!

Sitz party on Thursday, yay!

Fri 13.2. @ 6 pm – SHO:n Tykittäjät: Freaky Friday – Student House B

SHO’s movie club begins its spring season with the rip-roaring movies Freaky Friday and 13 Going on 30!

Join in on our biweekly brain annihilation meeting (with popcorn, good company, and stuff).

Fri 20.2. @ 6 pm – SHO 90 years: Prohibition-sitz party – Uusi-S

Student nation of Satakunta and Häme was founded in 1925 during Prohibition. It’s time to celebrate our 90th year of existence like it’s 1925.

Non-alcoholic version costs 10€ (12€ for non-members) whereas the alcoholic version is 15€ (17€ for non-members).

Thu 5.2. @ 12 pm – 3 pm – Book market of TYY – Old TYY Library (Student House B 2nd floor, above Starting Package office)

Old library books on sale at student-friendly prices (as low as 0.50€!) Cash only. Welcome!

Thu 5.2. @ 10 pm – Anglica’s Britpop – Dynamo (Linnankatu 7)

Dance fever is upon us! The traditional Britpop event is organised yet again in Dynamo on Thursday the 5th. The best of British pop is guaranteed to electrify the night!

3. Club activities

Mon 2.2. @ 5 pm – Mahjong club – Student House B

Mahjong is a game that originated in China. It is commonly played by four players. Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. Our club plays the Japance variation, Riichi mahjong. Rookies are more than welcome!

Tue 3.2. @ 5 pm – Billiards club – Student House B

Come and practice your billiards skills with us! The club focuses mainly on 8-ball and 9-ball. Both rookies and pros are welcome.

Tue 3.2. @ 6 pm – Sohon Torwet practice – Student House B

The best (and only) brass band of University of Turku, Sohon Torwet, practises its skills every Tuesday. Everyone interested is welcome to take a look at us in action or possibly join in.

Sat 7.2. @ 4 pm – Magic Card Club – Student House B

SHO & ANC’s trading card game club gathers around the tables of student nation room to play various trading card games (Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, etc.) every Saturday. Skills or cards are not required, the club masters are very helpful!

Sun 8.2. @ 4 pm – Tea club – Student House B

The tea club comes together to socialize and taste different tea varieties every other week. This Sunday’s theme is the Chinese Pu-erh. The club is free of charge for members.

Sun 8.2. @ 6 pm – Card & Tabletop Game Club – Student House B

The game club plays a wide variety of games weekly. The participants are welcome to bring their own games. Every game’s rules are reviewed before the game starts to make sure everyone from rookie to master feels comfortable with their skills.

Sun 8.2. @ 7 pm – Improvisation club – Uusi-S

The impro club meets up to practise impro theatre, with a different theme every week. More information can be found from the club’s Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/486678891457581.

Sun 8.2. @ 8 pm – Academic Sauna Society (ASS) – Uusi-S

The student nations’ collaborative sauna heats up every Sunday. Refreshment sales and towel rental available.
