Sapph? Who she?
Hey, hi, hello! :)
So I guess firstly I should introduce myself, I mean, it would be rude not to... right?
I’m Sapphire, I’m 26 years old, I currently live in Aberdeen, Scotland and I’m here for one more year before my travel adventure starts... it’s never too early to plan, right?  I have actually been planning my travelling life for about 8 years now, but life got in the way so I had to put it all on hold.  Now is the perfect time in my life to just do it, so here I am.  For the next year I’ll be planning, working “like a dog” to save and helplessly counting down the days until my last exams are over and I can leave for good!
... So most people travel, they go away for a year, they do the usual tourist things, get pictures and return home to a “normal” life... but not your gal Sapph, once she goes, she’s gone for good.  My goal was always to go “off the beaten path”, to explore, learn, live and be free.  Whilst that it still my goal, it’s no longer a temporary state of mind, it’s permanent... does that make sense?
I love to cycle, climb and hike so my goals are no longer to visit certain places and take pretty pictures, my goals are to hike mountains, climb rock faces, cycle through cities, soak up culture and live like a local.  So I’m currently studying for my TEFL certificate so I can pick up contacts and work whilst I travel, I’m also *trying* to learn at least the basics in several different languages to be able to converse when I do travel.
I live in Aberdeen but I’ve only been here for 3 months, before that I lived in Dundee for 8 years and grew up in Fife for 15 years before that... but I started my life off in a little place called Hackney in London.  So I suppose you can say I have never stayed in the same place for too long.  I studied Forensic Science at university when I left school at 18, however, that didn’t work out and I started to change my views and perceptions on life and how I was living it.  After a very brief and sad marriage at age 25, I decided to change my life and follow my heart.  As painful as that transition in my life was, it was necessary and truly the best thing I could have done.  I decided to go back to university and study photography.  I studied for two semesters and graduated with a BA in Commercial Photography (technically I graduate in a week).  However, this is not the end of my studies, I am heading back for another two semesters to gain my BA in Fashion Management.  You don’t know this yet but I’m a little fashion obsessed but I guess you can say I’m a jack of all trades, master of none!  Hopefully two BA degrees and a teaching certificate will aid me well in my travels... watch this space!
That might be a lot of information for strangers to read but I feel like getting all my thoughts in my head “on paper” helps me organise better... I’m not the only one, right?  Anyway, I hope you enjoy my journey and travels as much as I do, and if you happen to be in the same place as me, let’s meet for a coffee/cocktail/dinner/climb/cycle/hike.  I can’t wait for my life to really start <3
Bye for now,
S  xo
