Mama looked at the twin, chuckling as Rebecca only fell backwards to, both of them just lay happily and giving noises to each other âThen Iâll be truly outnumbered, once these two are mobile Iâll be ran into the groundâ she chuckled, smiling as he kissed her cheek. âAhh, yes- sheâs coming along with the baby. I need to go and see just how sheâs doing, I havenât been out a whole lot latelyâ she admitted, having found another reason to stay in. The woman went to speak again until he heard amâs words, her eyes becoming wide and ad. âNo, youâre leaving the nest? I hadnât realize you were serious..â she whined, cupping his cheeks.
âHate to break it to you, mom...but youâve been outnumbered since the day Az was born.â He teased, smiling at her even as she kissed his cheek. âIf anything theyâre outnumbered still since you still have all of us and the whole pack helping to raise them. But as for the Ackermans, itâs okay Iâm sure. Itâs cold and everyoneâs busy. But maybe next time I go with Mia, if you want to come with? Iâm sure theyâd love to see you.â Sam mused, taking another long drink from his water bottle before he (lovingly) rolled his eyes. âYes Mama, Iâve been serious for months. The girls have been helping me look and I finally settled on a place. So youâll just have to deal with me being far, far away...like...seven whole buildings between us.â he teased, grinning at her now.

Anastasia had just finished making the special order deliveries that she had due for the day and was walking back to the bakery. However, the young woman was so lost in thought that she didnât even notice that she clipped the arm of someone, continuing to walk until she heard them exclaim something. âExcuse me?â The words leaving her lips before she could stop them. Turning rapidly on her heel, a soft gasp leaving her as she looked over at them with wide eyes, âIâm so sorry, I wasnât watching where I was going.â She knew better than to get lost in her thoughts while walking. That was the easiest way for her to get herself into trouble. Trouble that she wasnât entirely sure that she wanted.

Sam didnât always venture out of the Underbank, but he needed to get some things for his new apartment, hence heading to the city. He was always on high alert though, just in case, so when a girl bumped into him he tensed for a moment before realizing it was just a human. She immediately blanched, her heart racing, and Sam shook his head, putting his hands up, âNo, itâs fine. You uh..seemed pretty lost in thought. Everything okay?â

Mia smiled a little, pushing forward to wrap her arms around her brothers torso now with a huff. âStill⌠you deserve to be happy, Sammy. You gotta relax sometimes, you and Sentry and all of your guards.â She hummed, pulling away. âI worry about you, sometimes.âÂ
Sam barely hesitated a second before wrapping his arms around her as she launched herself at him, a little smile on his lips as he pressed a kiss to the corner of her head--a smile that faded, turned a bit sad at her words, âAnd you think taking care of you doesnât..make me happy?â He asked quietly, easily avoiding the other meanings to her words before he sighed softly, looking down at her as they broke apart. âWhat for?â

Nova offered a sheepish chuckle, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand at the compliment. âIt was nice to get out, I canât remember the last time I did something like that.â She couldnât remember having that much fun with someone who wasnât Ella either, but she kept that part to herself. Giving his hand a little squeeze, she met his dark eyes, her shy smile quickly turning into something softer. Warmer. Subconsciously she had started to inch closer herself- until her darling daughter reminded them that she was still there.Â
Clearing her throat, Nova tapped the end of Ellaâs little button nose. âWe didnât forget about you, EllieBean,â she joked, watching with fond eyes as Sam set her down in the playpen. The expression on her face was soft, happy, as she watched Ella babble at Sam before redirecting her attention to a toy, waving it around in her chubby hands. âI havenât seen her this happy since we left home,â she admitted, her eyes lingering on Ella for another moment before she was looking up at Sam. âIâm really glad we ended up hereâŚitâs really starting to feel like home.âÂ
Sam had always loved babies (kind of a given too, being the eldest of so many siblings). He felt he was good with them, patient, and so the fact that Ella seemed to like him was definitely a good thing in his opinion. He stayed crouched down by the pen for a moment more, playfully talking back with the little girl like they were having an actual conversation before Nova was speaking again and he stood up straighter again, his already-bright smile warming at her words. âIâm glad you did too.â he told her softly, pushing the curls out of his face as he took a step closer to her. âIâm glad you came here and...Iâm glad youâre liking it, and that you feel safe here. And happy. Thatâs...kinda something Iâve been hoping for since I night I found you two wandering around..â

âThey can hear me, thatâs fine.â She stared, crossing her arms again and staring at her older brother. âThis is deserved in my opinion. I gushed to you about EVERYTHING, and I donât even get a âhey mia try not to be a pain in the ass, Iâm bringing a pretty girl to this thingâ warning? I ruined your date, Sammy.âÂ
Sam rolled his eyes at her, shaking his head at his ridiculous and overdramatic all the woman in his family tended to be at times--and loud. âMia, relax. Itâs not like I was trying to keep it from you. I just....didnât think it was a big deal? I didnât think it was something to tell. Iâm sorry.â he moved over to her then, shaking his head as he reached down, cupping her face in his hands. âYou didnât ruin anything, Amelia. Youâre my sister. Youâre my responsibility. As long as you and the others are safe...thatâs whatâs most important.â

âCome on, Sam. Youâre not gonna have a beer with an old friend? Iâm currently having to escape your little sister who has taken over my placeâŚâ He snickered, throwing a beer can to the other wolf âYouâre a hard man to find, could almost swear that youâve been hiding yourself away.â He mused, leaning himself against the wall. âYou good after all this time?â
@samxcodonaâ
Sam had had a long day at work and really should have just gone home--instead he found himself walking to the bar, a smile on his face as he saw his friend. âI mean, Iâd say sorry, but really you can blame Magnus for getting her knocked up and nesting now in the first place.â he quipped, clapping the other on the shoulder before nodding for them to go inside. âNah man, not hiding. Just...busy.â always busy. âBut I am, yeah. And you? Itâs good to have you back, good to see our numbers starter to grow.â

Mama had been in one of the best moods she had been in years, she felt loved and fulfilled after repairing things with Silas. It was always so obvious when sheâd had sex since she acted like Tiger Woods on a golf streak. âSammy!â she beamed when she saw her eldest, feeling that she hadnât been seeing enough of him lately âHave you seen this? The twins are starting to sit themselves up for longer now? Itâs amazingâŚThoughâ she then gestured when Lucas immediately flopped backwards âStill a lot of work to be doneâ she then softly cleared her throat âAre you okay?â

Sam smiled at his motherâs voice being the first thing he heard when he got home and he followed the sound of it, coming to find her along with the babies and he grinned at them, nodding, âIt is amazing.â He agreed, knowing that their being born prematurely had been concerning, but they seemed to be doing great. âTheyâll be mobile in no time.â He tacked on teasingly, leaning in to kiss her cheek before nodding, âHmm? Yeah, Iâm good. Was with Mia, weâre helping Felicity fix up Prueâs new home. Itâs coming along great.â as he spoke he moved around to the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water. âAnd speaking of..if I tell you I finalized everything for my own place, youâre not gonna start freaking out on me, are you?â

Even though a part of her was aware of the way he was speaking to her, it did work to help soothe her frazzled nerves a little more. âThank you. Although it is also partly my own fault. I think I need to pay more attention until I have muscle memory of the place.â And how far she could walk before she was approaching too far.
She got closer again now, though she didnât invade his personal bubble. A part of her found herself gravitating towards physical contact now that she was able to be around other wolves again and not just her companion while she had been stuck in the show; but she was also cautious about it. âI appreciate that,â Hope said softly, âItâs so nice to be a part of a community again. What Iâve seen here is â wonderful, really.â She was hurting, yes â but seeing the wolves here only helped build her hopes.Â
Sam shook his head again, âNah, this place can get confusing and disorienting even to people whoâve lived here forever, so donât be hard on yourself.â He assured softly. âWhen I was a kid I used to take berries and smear them along tree barks, kind of like marking where our territory ends so Iâd know how far I could safely run.â
He watched her as she came a bit closer, smiling encouragingly at her. Their kind needed each other for survival- even just a day or two away from his family put him on edge, so Sam couldnât imagine the life this poor woman had led, with only one other wolf to keep her alive. It must even be overwhelming for her now, surrounded by a whole pack. âHopefully with time youâll feel even more comfortable here. Safe. Youâre safe here, I can promise you that. And for as long as you want to be, youâre welcome to remain a part of this pack.â

âSAMUEL CODONAâ Mia nearly marched herself down the hall when she smelled him in the home.  But she had quickly figured out that her brother went with someone. Her eyes narrowed as soon as she could see him. âWe are two months into this year, Why didnât you TELL me you had a date to new years?âÂ
@samxcodonaâ
Sam was allowing himself a rare morning in, sleeping in past sunrise and still in pajamas as he made himself some breakfast. His sister practically screeching his name though made him jump and for a solid five seconds he wracked his brain, trying to figure out what the hell he did to upset her. Before he could figure it out though she was suddenly in front of him--and when she spoke he let out a breath, deflating a bit. âI donât think the Evershams heard you yelling.â he grumbled, nodding out the kitchen window towards their neighborâs house. Her question made him sigh though and he put his mug down, âI....didnât know you didnât know?âÂ

As requested of him, Sam had gone to the hardware store in the city to pick up a few more paint swatches of various shades and some wallpaper samples, knowing Felicity was absolutely adamant that everything be absolutely perfect for her sisterâs new home. Given that Samâs own sister was busy that afternoon and couldnât join them, it was quieter as he walked into the mansion and he followed Felicityâs scent, putting the bag down and coming up behind where she was, his arms coming up on either side of her to bracket her against the table she was standing as he peered over her shoulder, âWhatâre you working on?â

In her heart of hearts, maybe Nova had been a little bummed herself about the way their night had ended. But family came first, she knew that better than anyone else- sheâd have dropped everything if it was Ella who needed her, Sam was just doing the same. She wasnât expecting his reaction though. The radio silence from him since the ball made her wonder if heâd just changed his mind about wanting to spend time with her, but the remorse rolling off him now suggested that that wasnât the case at all. âFor what itâs worth, the time we did get to spend together was pretty great,â she started, a little flutter in her belly as he moved closer- itâd been a long time since she felt that. âSoâŚyea. Iâd really like thatâŚâ she answered, clearing her own throat as the faintest blush dusted her cheeks. Nova felt like a bumbling teenager, it was ridiculous.Â
âBut only if youâve got the time, seems like youâre really busy these days,â she added, a momentary flash of concern in her eyes- she hadnât missed the way heâd side stepped her question earlier. Something told her it wasnât a new habit. Following impulse, Nova reached out, her fingertips just barely brushing over the back of his hand. âI know itâs not my place, butâŚI hope youâre taking care of yourself too.âÂ
Sam smiled lightly at her, nodding, âI agree, it was great. And you were...beautiful. I wish Iâd spent more time with you..â he noticed the blush coloring her cheeks, found it made her just as beautiful as when she was all dressed up. âI can make the time. You...--itâd be worth it. Youâd be worth it.â He looked at his hand when she put hers over his, her fingertips gentle, warm against his skin and on instinct he flipped his hand over, taking hers loosely in his hold. âI-I um...Iâll be okay. Iâm fine.â He felt the urge to move closer, to tighten the hold he had on her hand--but Ella suddenly gurgled up and effectively broke the spell.
He had his own blush on his face as she smiled and bounced her, âCome on, letâs go settle you in the twinâs playpen.â he told her, pressing a kiss to the babyâs head and giving a squeeze to Novaâs hand, urging her to follow.

Rowan visibly jerked at the sound of his voice, but settled when she caught sight of him â she recognised Sam, at least even though they hadnât spoken. A few of the wolves had been pointed out to her, others she had just watched and learned about. There had been a few that sheâd approached but mostly sheâd kept to herself; it was only now that she was starting to come out of her shell slightly.
Taking a deep breath, Rowan let it out slowly to try and urge her heartbeat to calm down â gratefully taking a few steps to meet him. âI didnât mean to stray so far.â She was glad her voice didnât wobble. âBut thatâs good to know.â She felt a little safer just for his presence, tucking some loose strands of hair behind her ear and forcing her shoulders to relax.
âYouâre Sam, right?â And head of security, if she remembered correctly, which made it all that much easier to feel safer with him.
Sam noticed the way she jumped and he gave her an apologetic little smile, keeping distance between them to not crowd her, make her more anxious. âItâs alright. Youâll learn the perimeters of our territory soon enough. Iâll show you some markers to remember, to know when youâve gone too far.â He assured her softly, talking to her like a spooked animal almost.
When she took a couple steps closer he relaxed as well, nodding at her question, âSam, yeah. Iâm on the night patrol tonight and when I saw you..well....I just wanted to make sure you didnât get too far. Your safetyâs kinda my responsibility after all.â

Sheâd walked a little too far, she thought. Rowan was slowly getting more bold about exploring the Underbank but that had grown to maybe a little too bold as she started to look at itâs surroundings. Sheâd been trying to stay close, not wanting to dare venture out far enough that she might come across vampires â but then sheâd gotten lost in thought about her old life, and her family. All too soon it would be coming up on the anniversary of her capture, and therefore her loss.
It meant both that sheâd wandered a little too far, and that she was on edge. At least she hadnât left the woods â but she was certainly further from the Underbank than sheâd wanted to be. Immediately she stepped backwards, and turned around to head back â hearing her heart beating loudly in her ears.Â
Sam was always wary with new wolves--but he had to restrain himself too. All he ever wanted to do was help, and keep his pack safe. So once he deemed someone new as someone safe, he was adamant on keeping them okay. So far, he wasnât quite sure what to make of their newest addition. He hadnât spoken with her...and only really knew the rumors heâd heard of her, but he trusted August, so he trusted the other manâs judgement. Still, he kept an eye on her- especially as she walked a little too far from their territory.Â
She was clearly lost in thought, wandering rather aimlessly, before it seemed reality hit her and Sam could hear her heart racing, feel the fear coming off her. âYouâre alright.â He called out, purposefully making his footfalls heavy, twigs and leaves crunching loudly under his feet. âItâs cold enough that most vamps wonât bother coming this way anyways.â

She couldnât help but watch the way Sam and Ella interacted, the baby babbling nonsensically as she patted the manâs cheeks in greeting, clearly very happy about it. Her lips tugged upwards in a little smile when he mentioned that he missed her, admittedly a little glad to hear it- sheâd definitely missed him. âAn apology?â she asked as she stepped inside, closing the door behind herself. âIf this is about what happened at the ball, you really donât have anything to apologize for, Koda. Iâm just glad everyone is safeâŚAre you alright though?â she asked, looking over at him for a moment. âMustâve been a lot.â Â
Sam kept looking down at the baby, smiling at her and easily bouncing her on his side. She let him toy with his fingers while he led her and her mother inside, his expression dimming as he shook his head, âNo, I do. I...I was really looking forward to going with you, spending that time with you..and I ended up pretty much abandoning you. Which was really shitty--â he looked down at Ella, âRude of me.â When it turned onto him though he let out a breath, shrugging, âIâm fine. Itâs not about me.â he brushed her concern off easily, a knee jerk reaction. âAnd everyoneâs okay. And I...â he swallowed, moving a little closer to her. âI wanna make it up to you. If youâd give me the chance.â

Nova hadnât really prepared herself for this possibility, and so for a moment she just blinked at him, watching as his face shifted in surprise as well. It was Ella who broke the moment, letting out a loud gurgle of laughter, clapping her chubby hands and reaching out towards Sam. Not for the first time, Nova envied the ease with which children could express their emotions, never having to worry about all the baggage that came with it. Despite herself, her lips curved upwards as she turned her eyes to her daughter, her insides warming as she saw how happy the baby was- this was all sheâd wanted for Ella. âLooks like she missed you,â she said finally with a awkward little laugh, holding Samâs gaze for a moment before her attention was drawn away by Ella wriggling madly in her arms in an attempt to get closer to Sam. âOkay, okay. Sheâs getting very demanding,â she joked, grateful that Ella was such an effective icebreaker. Without any hesitation, Nova leaned forward so he could take the baby, trying not to focus on the way his arms brushed hers during the exchange. âSoâŚhow are you?âÂ
Even with his nerves, seeing Ella squealing and babbling up at him made a smile tug onto Samâs lips- especially as she said the girl missed him. He watched the wriggling little girl for a moment more before he let out a laugh and he nodded, shifting closer and opening his arms up, easily taking Ella a moment later. âThe feelingâs mutual, I missed her too...â he looked up then, his expression softening, âBoth of you.â He shifted Ella onto his side, letting her gnaw at his finger as he sighed softly. âIâm alright, but...I owe an apology. A big one. If youâre willing to hear it.â he bit his lip before nodding behind himself, âCome in?â

The New Years ball had certainly been eventful to say the least, even though the night was cut a little shorter when Sam learned that his sisters had both managed to get into altercations with the Queen. Nova hadnât heard too much from him since then, and though she figured he was just busy with work or his family, she found that her thoughts strayed to him now and again anyway. Eventually she figured that there was no harm in baking some treats and taking them by the Codona house, and so, with Ella strapped securely to her chest, she set out. Nova was already expecting Sam to have been working or something, so when the door opened and she was faced with none other than the man himself, she couldnât hide the quick flash of surprise. âOh- hey. I didnât think you were home.â
@samuelxcodonaâ
Sam felt shitty for abandoning his date early, on a night that pretty much centered all around a late time. So much so that he admittedly avoided the other wolf out of embarrassment, feeling like she probably regretted agreeing to go with him in the first place. But then those feelings turned into guilt, and he knew he really did owe her an explanation. He just...needed to figure out what to say--and a time to say it. Nothing ever felt right, and as such days kept on passing by, making him feel worse. A part of him figured he should just give up; Nova was so sweet and kind, she was fun to be around...she was gorgeous. Could do a hell of a lot better than him and his mess of a life.Â
Itâd been a thought heâd stuck with for days too, so much so that when he opened the door that afternoon, the last person he expected to see on the other end was her. âNova...â he breathed out, eyes widening a bit. âI, uh...yeah, I was--I am. Obviously. ...Hi.â
