“If he has good thoughts about Allaah, that he will be answered, then he will be answered bi’ithnillaah. But if he says ‘I don’t think I will be answered’ and the like, then he will be deprived of the answer – and refuge is sought in Allaah – because he did not have good thoughts of his Lord.”
Shaykh ‘Abd ur-Rahmaan al-’Ajlaan (hafidhahullaah)

Forgive, Forget
These past few days have made me a realise a important part of life. I can be a very stubborn person but Alhumdulillah, my religion teaches valuable lessons which only benefit me. We as human beings are made in such a way that we do commit sins and we do make mistakes. It is a part of life. The prophet Muhammed (PBUH) never held anything against anyone, he always for forgave them for what they did. We need to learn to forgive and forget, and by doing this we will find freedom and happiness. We need to be more understanding of one another and take inspiration from the best man that ever lived, we need to be willing and overlook people’s past. We need to stop holding grudges, have resentment towards one another and instead we need to start advising each other. Forgive people as many times as you would want Allah to forgive you. May Allah makes us amongst the ones who forgive and forget about the mistake of those who have hurt us deeply and may Allah and yourself, forgive me and others for hurting others. Everything good comes from Allah, and anything bad from myself.

Was it hard?” I ask. Letting go?” Not as hard as holding on to something that wasn’t real.

When you turn back to Allah, you feel ashamed. Ashamed to be asking forgiveness of a sin you’re not sure if you can stay away from. Except, you still ask. You still ask, because you know that your Lord is the Most Merciful. That no one can understand what you feel, except Him. You turn back and ask for forgiveness because unlike those in this world, Allāh will always be by your side.

When someone hurts you or harms you, even if it is a deep wound, forgive them. Forgive them NOT for their sake, but as a sign of gratitude to Allah. Why you ask? For making you the victim and not the oppressor. There is no crime in being a victim, rather it brings you closer to Allah and rids you of sins. But as for the oppressor, they’ll have to face their Lord one day. So in reality, they are their own greatest victims.

You need to be broken so you are not proud and not full of yourself.

Don’t feel proud just because you’ve done some good deeds. Think about your many sins. Now remember that there are Angels that worship Allah day and night without sinning. Humble yourself and realise that you’re not doing Allah a favour. Rather, He has favoured you by guiding you to doing good.

Nothing happens by chance. The little instances where someone helped you or brightened your day was a help from your Rabb who is taking care of you. Be conscious of who deserves your thanks in the first place.
