To add an addendum to this:
The toddler has at random moments looked at me and said in all seriousness “Mommy, Fuck is a bad word that I shouldn’t say!”
To which I have to maintain a straight face, nod, and agree. “Yes, that’s right, we shouldn’t say that word.”
I swear, if my husband breaks and giggles even once that man is getting his own personal dog house built in the backyard.
Tumblr media
So my nearly 4 year old learned a new phrase... can you guess?
Apparently, my husband and his mother were bickering over how to set up the pack and play for our 1 year old, when he, in a rage, started just shaking the thing hoping to get parts to lock.
In response to the rage, his mother proclaimed "WHAT THE FUCK?!"
With the 4 year old in the room.
Since she didn't seem to react or notice they thought they got it under the radar, until it was time for 4 year old to come home. Once in the car she proclaimed "WTF!!!" which startled Gramma, who then ignored it to try and make it not such a big deal and hopefully go away.
Upon getting home, 4 year old was expecting my father and his wife to be here (they were staying with us over the holidays), however they had not yet arrived.
Gramma stated "well I guess they aren't here yet like we thought."
4 year old enters, throws her hands in the air and states "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!"
To which I responded with the ultimate parent statement "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!?!?!?!?"
Once she repeated it, very clearly, I calmly expressed that this was not a good word and she wasn't supposed to say it. (Gramma got on my case a little bit, but 4 year old understands bad words and quite often tells me off for stating 'darn it'.)
Thankfully, so far, she has listened and hasn't used it again.
I'm just impressed that she took a phrase that was being used towards an action and appropriately used it for a situation.

Reblog if you’re 30 or older
This is an experiment to see if there really are as few of us as people think. You can also use this to freak out your followers who think you’re 25 or something. Yay!

Went to see Santa last night.
Munchie was SO Excited she scared her brother by shouting at him, so his Santa experience was... less than great. He like the lights but was very iffy about sitting with Mrs Clause.
Munchie is old enough to finally tell Santa what she would like from him for Christmas.
She asked for a cupcake because her birthday is coming (it's the 30th), Santa was charmed.
This Santa is done by a couple on their front porch to collect food for the food bank and they have been 'our' Santa since Munchie's first Christmas in 2020. Munchie left such an impression over the years (with her incredible cuteness) that they remember her.
It's a very sweet relationship to get to see them for 10 minutes a year but having them be so meaningful in those 10 minutes.

I used to work in tech support for a software company, but I was the admin. This meant I was the support robot who sent out form emails for standard errors or when a system was down with eta information. I also answered switchboard.
I had a client call in one time and I answered with my name. She asked to be transferred to someone else and probably thought I immediately put her on hold. I heard her mutter “[My Name] is a person?!”
Me: “Hi yes! I am a real person!” (Very chipper)
Her: “Oh well! I always get standard emails from [My Name] so I thought that was the name they gave the support robot!”
Queue me spending the rest of shift doing my best robot impression to my coworkers.
Me: Hi, this is Ebony at work; how can I help you today?
Customer: Oh wow
Me: Is everything alright?
Customer: Oh yes, it’s just that you’re so good at this, I thought you were a recording at first
Me, internally: Your, “most people only call me a robot *after* they know I’m Autistic,” joke is an inside thought until you can get to Tumblr; same with the, “script writer,” bit.
Me: Ha, can you tell I’ve been doing this for a while?

Gotta admit it’s the Babysitters Club books as that’s where I first learned of the name.
Reblog for a bigger sample size.

Adding to the tally:
Cleaned living/play room
Vacuumed living/play room
Cleaned kitchen
Swept kitchen
Get that bird some treaties!!!!
Alright, I'm dragging you all into doing tasks with me today.
I've gotta do a bunch of laundry and dishes and clean floors and stuff, and I hate working alone, so here's what we're gonna do!
When you reblog this and tell me your completed task, I'll add it to a tally and update periodically with a progressive total. Before I go out tomorrow, I'll grab a final count, and that's how many whole food "treat" pieces the birds will get when I get home (a mix of fishies and crickets and mealworms and blueberries and nugget treats and banana pieces etc, all stuff that is a good part of their diet). Tasks can be anything you need to do, but it would make me especially happy for folks to do things they've been putting off or are hard to find motivation to do alone, so the birds can help you back.
So! Let's get to work together today!

Doing all the things
Today is a day for getting. stuff. done.
So far I have:
Finally cleaned up the play/living/family room which will totally be demolished again by the two crotch goblins but it was clean.
Vacuumed the play/living/family room which is a feat, this room is the entire back half of the house, it’s a big room.
Cleaned the kitchen.
Swept the kitchen which is a big task as crotch goblin 2 is learning solids so most of his food ends up on the floor.
Now I have 4 bajillion loads of laundry to do, but can get that done for tomorrow too when the husband is on his weekend.
Have Mother coming over on Friday to help with finally organizing my new craft area, which means going through ALL my craft supplies. Mother in law is taking the kiddos so we can just buckle down and get it done.
We are hosting one of the big family Christmas events here on Christmas Eve and have a lot to do to get this house ready for it. Getting the craft stuff to its proper home will help immensely, then it’s just getting the dining room back in order.
