All you need to know to find the right stroller

A stroller is an essential component, which is one of the first things parents have to buy, and one of the most important baby tools until the child makes the first steps on its own. However, even when your child can walk, you probably will use your stroller even further – probably until the 5th birthday.

There is a huge variety of strollers or buggies out there – so huge, that it is hard to tell which one is he best one for your needs. You should consider the following things before you buy a new buggy: What surface is it used on? Where, in terms of weather, will it be used? How much are you willing to pay for it? For example, if you live in a city, urban terrain, you will have to choose a stroller with high maneuverability and not a bulky one. Maybe it even has to fit in the subway. If you will transport the stroller itself in your car a lot, it has to be easy to fold in a short time.

Maybe you want to take your baby with you when you go running? Then you should take a jogging stroller. As you can see, there is almost a type of buggy for every need and purpose.

Buggy types and forms

Normal umbrella strollers are available in many designs, but they all have the padded seat and belt, which often can be reclined, in common. They have, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger, sunshades and also some boxes for storage or some extras like cup holders. On premium strollers, you even can turn around the baby’s seat. All these features, of course, depend on the price.

Lightweight car seat stroller frames are also available. These aluminum frames come without a seat. You simply can put your child’s car seat inside the frame and there you go. This stroller type has the advantage that it is not that bulky and easy to fold, but it often does not have a lot extra features. Another problem is, that when you kid is too big for its car seat, you can’t use the stroller anymore.

Lightweight strollers with a weight of under 6 kilograms can be folded in seconds and to a very small degree. When folded you can put them almost everywhere, for example under the bed or in your car’s trunk. The disadvantage is that they are often not as much padded as normal strollers and they can’t be reclined.

Double (or even more) strollers are buggies for twins (or just 2 babies). You can carry them in tandem mode. From a functional point of view, they are the same as a single stroller. Double strollers are also available as one of the other three types and are of course a bit more expensive due to more material used.
